Role purpose:
The Procurement team is crucial to ensuring ShelterBox is equipped with the supply infrastructure we need to work, fundraise, budget, manage data and ultimately deliver vital aid. In addition to working on Indirect Items, the Procurement Team is a skills resource for the rest of the business, identifying and supporting with best practice in procurement and negotiations at all levels.
The Senior Buyer will join a busy and dynamic Procurement team of three individuals (two Senior Buyers and the Procurement Manager) and will quickly become integral to the day-to-day running of the Procurement function. It is expected that the individual will have substantial procurement experience.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for a variety of Indirect spend and suppliers. Additionally, the Senior Buyer will support the Supply Chain team and the rest of the organisation as a subject matter expert on negotiation and procurement activities.
Who are we looking for?
ShelterBox is seeking a proactive individual with proven procurement experience to add capacity to the team. Attention to detail and diligence will be at the forefront of your skillset and you'll need to be comfortable with numbers, data and sensitively posing challenging questions to understand business requirements.
We are looking for someone with excellent communications skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks with competing deadlines. The individual should be confident with developing and maintaining relationships both internally with other departments and externally with suppliers and partners.
This role would suit someone currently in a Senior Procurement Role who is looking to expand their responsibilities and skillset. CIPs qualification is desirable. Charity experience is appreciated, but we welcome applicants with appropriate experience in any sector.
Job Description
Main role and responsibilities:
Ensure effective procurement of goods, services and works by conducting market research, performing supplier due diligence, implementing rigorous contracting procedures, managing contracts, negotiating favourable terms, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and preparing and maintaining documentation to guarantee best value, efficiency, and accountability to both donors and recipients.
Handling a variety of stakeholders and manage expectations as well as delivering on promised outcomes.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Management of a broad range of categories across the organisation, focussing predominantly on indirect, non-stock purchases.
- Work with Senior Management to identify procurement improvement priorities by analysing forecast spend, supply markets and specification options.
- Design, plan and lead the tender process for a variety of buying categories up to a contract value of £2m.
- Contribute to the specification-writing process, leading to formal technical, performance and supply specifications that can be used in tendering; it is expected that the individual will write the final versions of those specifications and hold them on file.
- Regularly review and improve procurement processes for allocated categories, adapting to organisational strategic change.
- Working with the team, assess and manage risk across all allocated categories.
- Write, negotiate and sign off contracts with suppliers to achieve the maximum value for ShelterBox.
- Develop and maintain appropriate supplier and contract management processes for all allocated categories.
- Report on cost savings and avoidance and added value.
- Upskill individuals across the organisation on commercial processes, offering strategic advice and ensuring compliance with internal policies.
- Manage procurement-led projects such as procedure implementation, and software introduction.
- Develop and deliver sustainability improvements within the procurement function according to the Environmental Policy.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes, industry trends and market developments.
- Sign off on supply chain compliance as per the delegation of authority level.

- Ensure that the procurement administration is kept up to date and that all filing is in accordance with policy.

Context and Background
The NSPCC relies on voluntary income for the majority of its work to keep children safe, prevent abuse and ensure every child has a voice. To secure long-term sustainability, the charity has reshaped how it engages supporters through the Engagement and Fundraising Directorate.
Within this, the Philanthropy and Partnerships Department brings together high-value audiences and supporter-led income. The Volunteer Board Fundraising team leads income generation through regional and national volunteer boards, volunteer-led fundraising initiatives and delivery of special events through our high value event committees. These activities play a vital role in maximising sustainable income, engaging senior volunteers, and supporting long-term supporter relationships.
The volunteer boards are made up of influential and successful senior stakeholders who feel passionately about the NSPCC and volunteer their time to help the NSPCC generate income and awareness. They employ a range of fundraising techniques to reach their goals – their focus being to use their networks and influence to secure income generating opportunities via events, corporate partnerships and major gifts from individuals.
The team works closely with colleagues in Philanthropy and Partnerships (corporate partnerships, major gifts, trusts and statutory), Public Engagement (marketing, brand, digital), and Fundraising Operations (data, compliance, finance, procurement) to ensure volunteer fundraising is integrated into supporter journeys, delivers excellent experiences, and achieves strong ROI.
With the support of a Fundraising Manager, the role of the Fundraiser is to cultivate and steward key relationships and deliver special projects across the volunteer boards and their network to deliver against annual income plans.
Job purpose

Main duties and responsibilities
Contributing to Volunteer Partnerships Strategy and Income
· Contribute to the delivery of the Volunteer Partnerships annual business plan to maximise net income and long-term value through the volunteer boards
· Support the high-value volunteer boards and their networks, ensuring their fundraising and engagement delivers sustainable income and long-term value
· Lead on delivery of specific fundraising projects
· Contribute to KPIs for income, supporter experience and ROI, addressing risks and identifying opportunities for growth

Managing Volunteer Relationships
· Steward senior volunteers and board members, ensuring they feel supported, inspired and connected to the NSPCC’s mission
· Provide tools, resources and guidance to volunteers to support their fundraising and advocacy
· Carry out research through a range of sources, to contribute to proposals, donor strategies and fundraising communications.
· Develop and create engaging materials for external audiences

Collaboration and Centre of Excellence
· Act as a centre of expertise for volunteer-led fundraising across the NSPCC
· Collaborate with colleagues across Engagement & Fundraising to embed volunteer fundraising within wider supporter journeys and campaigns
Budgeting, Finance and Evaluation
· Contribute to the budgets for volunteer fundraising activity, whilst supporting the Fundraising Manager to accurately monitor income and expenditure
· Work with the Fundraising Manager to ensure accurate data capture and reporting
· To provide financial administrative assistance to budget holders, including processing invoices, placing orders, undertaking financial analysis, cash handling and banking in line with NSPCC policies and procedures.

· To update databases and supporter information systems as directed, in line with Data Protection legislation and NSPCC policy and procedures.

Person specification
1. Experience of building effective relationships through face to face interactions with existing and new high-level individuals and/or organisations, leading to securing fundraising income via long-term partnerships.
2. Commercially minded; ability to apply commercial knowledge and understanding to fundraising partnerships ensuring that NSPCC activity has a competitive edge in the market place. NSPCC fundraising activity must be appealing and commercially viable.
3. Exceptional project management skills; ability to see a project through from start to finish, reaching a desired income target. Must have meticulous planning skills and show great attention to detail. Must be self-motivated and highly proactive.
4. Target driven with proven financial management and reporting skills, including accurate budgeting and contingency planning. A track record of achieving financial and departmental objectives.
5. Knowledge of corporate social responsibility and individual philanthropic motivations and current trends in high value and corporate fundraising across the UK.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver fundraising pitches, ideas and project updates to a range of audiences in a clear, inspiring and confident way.
7. Able to work harmoniously with internal colleagues across teams to achieve joint objectives. Working collaboratively; demonstrating an understanding of other team’s goals and priorities. Able to negotiate successfully with others to achieve a desired outcome.

Brief Outline of Job:

SDT has the overall responsibility for managing and thanking all supporter donations to CAFOD made through a variety of channels and schemes. SDT works within the Finance and infrastructure group, liaises across all teams in CAFOD, and external service providers to ensure donations are processed within agreed service levels and quality standards. Due to the nature of SDT’s role, SDT has particularly close ties to CAFOD Fundraising activities and actively engages in our fundraising programmes and schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Supporter Care:
- Handle telephone, email and postal enquiries from supporters; identifying and resolving queries in a prompt, warm and sensitive way.
- Provide phone cover to the Supporter Care team as required.
- Provide reception cover to the Supporter Care team as required.
Donations:
- Accurately code donations received, ensuring agreed departmental procedures are followed.
- Process, set up and administer instructions and payments through a variety of donations channels and schemes such as Online, Direct Debit, standing orders, BACs, Payroll giving schemes and online giving platforms.
- Input and maintain data on CAFOD’s supporter database, ensuring high degrees of accuracy on our donor records.
- File and archive financial data, while adhering to strict audit controls.
Gift Aid:
- Understand Gift Aid and its application within CAFOD.
- Assist with all aspects of tax effective giving, in accordance with agreed procedures and priorities, including preparation of regular tax claims for submission to HMRC.
Thanking:
- Produce and dispatch letters to thank and acknowledge donations received.
- Write bespoke letters of thanks to supporters to respond to exceptional donations and provide a personal touch.
- Contribute to ongoing enhancement and improvement of supporter thanking
Post/banking:
- Assist with all incoming and outgoing postal duties held by SDT to maximise effectiveness of processes and delivery of key service levels.
- Preparation of daily banking, cash handling and initial reconciliation of all monies received daily.
All SDT staff are expected to:
- Attend and contribute to regular team, section, divisional and CAFOD-wide meetings and briefings.
- Work as a supportive member of the team, providing cover for and training of the section staff and volunteers as required.
- Participate in training and other activities as requested by the line manager
- Assist with the rapid set up of projects and work packages in response to major emergency and disaster appeals.
- Rotate through all key tasks within the team / section.

The Role
As Youth Work Coordinator, you will take a lead role in the planning, coordination and delivery of youth clubs and activities. You will be responsible for setting up and developing new sessions, coordinating day-to-day delivery, supporting youth workers and volunteers, and ensuring high-quality youth work practice in line with the YMCA Youth Work Strategy and Principles.
You will also work closely with local partners, schools, and community stakeholders to strengthen engagement and create positive opportunities for young people. This is a hands-on role combining direct youth work, outreach, and leadership responsibilities.
The role includes working 2–3 days per week after school, with some evening work required. Additional daytime hours are allocated for planning, coordination, partnership working, and administration, bringing the total to 37.5 hours per week.
