Safeguarding Officer

Specific Responsibilities

To provide ongoing strategic development, support and administration for effective safeguarding in RDA by way of:

- developing and delivering the action plan and ongoing objectives from the BEF Audit/ Framework Plan and RDA Safeguarding strategy
- continuous improvement and relevance of all Safeguarding materials and resources, to ensure RDA UK’s Safeguarding policy and statutory obligations and expectations are met, including relevant actions following BEF Safeguarding Action Team (SAT) meetings
- handling communication of Safeguarding reports, concerns and requests for guidance from the RDA UK network
- Safeguarding Case Management support to Membership Services Manager and other RDA UK Safeguarding staff, as appropriate
- working collaboratively with the RDA UK Safeguarding Lead and other relevant RDA UK staff and volunteers to plan, deliver and review projects that improve outcomes for children and adults at risk, within the RDA UK network
- liaising with and advising other members of the RDA UK team and working groups on Safeguarding best practice, policies and requirements, including specific projects or events
- dealing promptly with enquiries received from RDA Groups about policies, procedures and training requirements/ needs and responding to any feedback given
- maintenance of the Safeguarding content on the MyRDA website, to ensure that it is current, clear and relevant
- providing RDA Groups around the UK with guidance, and signposting them to relevant providers of Disclosure Checks; ensuring policies and resources are kept up to date
- coordinating the delivery of regular accredited training courses (both in person and virtual) and training/workshops, in conjunction with regional trainers and relevant external bodies
- developing, maintaining and administering Safeguarding e-learning courses and materials
- provision of accurate data analysis, recommendations, updates and case management report statistics, for RDA UK Board
- acting as Safeguarding Lead at RDA National Championships and other key events, including responsibility for the duty phone
- acting as Safeguarding Lead at RDA National Training Centre
- ensuring related policies are adhered to including Health & Safety, GDPR/ Data Protection, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion etc.

To provide specific Membership Services support and administration, within the Membership Services Team, by way of:

- providing additional support for the Membership Services Team via the main enquiry line
- Supporting with the coordination of the RDA UK Group Annual Return process in conjunction with Communications Team and Membership Services Administrators and providing ongoing related support and guidance to the RDA Groups
- taking the lead on Group Mergers/Closures/Incorporations and providing support and signposting for advice to any new groups in the process of opening, or enquiries from those interested in setting up a new group
- annual membership and insurance payments/renewals process in March/April each year and giving interim support and guidance
- supporting delivery of the Membership Services Survey
- assisting with wider policy review/development and standardisation/tracking, both on an expected annual and as-needed basis during the year

To be pro-active in communicating with RDA groups

- Listen to the achievements and / or concerns of individual groups
- Explain the ways in which National Office can support and enable each group to flourish and meet RDA UK and wider policies and requirements
- Visit groups to build and enhance relationships with RDA volunteers, to celebrate achievements, listen to feedback and encourage good practice
- Seek to promote more widely the best of what is achieved and recognise best practice

General

- To undertake such other duties as the line manager shall from time to time determine
- To be flexible in working from other offices in the UK as required for the effective delivery of the role
- To demonstrate the values and cultural aspirations of RDA in all work that is undertaken
- To ensure due consideration is always given to our charitable aims and objectives and that this is demonstrated in all activities undertaken
- To attend and service the National Championships, providing support leading up to the event as requested, as well as supporting the event itself

Essential Criteria

- Proven experience of implementing and delivering safeguarding policies and resources within a comparable environment (e.g. social care, education, youth or community work with young people/adults at risk)
- Proven experience of case management process from initial report/concern to conclusion
- Familiarity with Disclosure Check processes and requirements
- Experience of delivering and implementing safeguarding training and development
- Proven experience of working in a safeguarding advisory capacity. Experience of promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk, and/or holding a recognised Safeguarding qualification e.g. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

What will you be doing?

As a Service Manager at Hft, you’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible. What you'll be doing -

You'll be a key part of the Statutory and Lottery Partnerships team who have a diverse portfolio of funders and an annual target of £5 million. The achievements of this team have helped RNIB develop innovative projects and support more blind and partially sighted people by securing large value grants from Statutory, Lottery and EU funders.

The Charity Shop Manager (Cover) role, will be guaranteed 8.5 hours a week in our Hornsey charity shop. Harington is an Ofsted regulated specialist college and charity based in north London, working with young people with learning differences aged 16-25. Our students undertake individualised learning programmes that lead to vocational qualifications and other aims, including gardening, retail, English, maths, employability and independent living.  We also deliver a supported internship programme.

Main purpose of the role

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, this post will lead on the development and delivery of Thrive’s community and public fundraising whilst working collaboratively with the rest of fundraising team to maximise and develop opportunities over various income streams.

 The post holder will work with our local centres to develop fundraising opportunities and offerings that are appealing to the local community.

The role will also focus on campaigns and projects which either bring in significant unrestricted income (e.g. The Big Give), or that help to step change Thrive’s ability to fundraise (e.g. Thrive’s supporter journey).

Ruils is a user-led charity that supports disabled adults and people with long-term health and/or mental health conditions to live independently, be part of their community and live life to the full. We provide information, advice, practical support, befriending and accessible activities to our clients and families.

We are working with the SWL ICB and local GPs to deliver an exciting new service within Hampton North. The Community Health and Wellbeing Worker will speak to households about health and wellbeing, alongside offering support to connect people to services and activities in their local community. The role aims to empower people to take control of their lives.

It involves working with people who may be experiencing a number of issues, so you will need outstanding listening and communication skills, empathy and enthusiasm. You will need excellent organisational skills, be adept at seeking out information for relevant community services and have the tenacity to help people achieve sustainable improvements in their wellbeing.

Main duties include:

• Managing a caseload of households, providing monthly home visits and providing a continuous point of contact for all members of the household.
• Working with the client to assess their needs, create personalised action plans and locate support within the community.
• Supporting clients to prioritise and address practical, health, social and emotional issues in their lives which affect their wellbeing.
• Engaging with community organisations and specialist services that provide support to ease the pathway for your clients.
• Building and maintaining relationships with primary care networks, GPs, health care professionals and services across the borough.

Your role

As Assistant Shop Manager at Scope's Wakefield shop, you’ll work alongside the Shop Manager, and use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be be generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You may also deputise and be responsible for running the shop when the shop manager is absent. A great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important as relevant experience.

About you

You’ll be a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic and committed to providing excellent customer service. You do not need specific retail experience. But we do ask that you are business minded and have worked in a fast paced, service environment where you put the customer’s needs first. You’ll also need to showcase a great attention to detail, solid IT skills and have a creative eye for displays. It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day, so some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. We work 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

What will you be doing?

The Quality Lead role is critical to ensuring that Hft is a great place to work with a culture and a support network that enables our people to thrive. Reporting to the Head of Quality and Improvement, you will be part of a team of Quality Leads working together to drive strategic quality improvement across Hft’s services. This team sits as part of the wider Quality and Governance Portfolio.

You will be responsible for undertaking internal audit and assurance activities, and for supporting services to deliver quality improvement initiatives in line with Hft’s Quality Assurance Framework. You will provide services with appropriate advice and support, and work closely with various management teams to develop and improve best practice across services. You will analyse and use quality and safety data to prioritise improvement activities to ensure Hft offers “outstanding” care and support to the people we support.

In addition, some flexibility may be required for you to support colleagues in other areas, to meet the needs of the organisation and cross over to support your team.

The role is home based but requires regular travel and overnight stays to deliver a programme of audit and assurance and improvement initiatives, assessments, incident management and support visits to ensure safe, high-quality services. This requires a high-level of organisational skills and flexible, effective time management. A full driving licence and own transport is essential.

Who are you?

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a CQC Registered / Regional Manager or Quality professional, with experience of auditing within Health and Social Care, and a proven track record of leading services to “Outstanding.”

You will have an in-depth knowledge of safety, health and social care regulatory compliance and supporting legal frameworks, to be able to coach, advise and mentor care and support colleagues within your designated areas. You will be skilled in embedding processes to drive quality standards, and have a solid understanding of assurance and “what excellent looks like.”. A self-starter, you will have a continuous improvement mind-set and enjoy building strong relationships with your stakeholder, and will have excellent communication skills.

A level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, and a recognised Auditor qualification (or willing to work towards one) is essential. You will have experience in quality improvement methodology, risk management and root cause analysis, with a willingness to work towards any required qualifications.

Headway East London is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Working across 13 London boroughs we offer specialist support and services for survivors and their family. About the Role

We are looking for a Day Service Co-ordinator to join our art studio team and support people living with brain injury in our day centre in Haggerston.

You will take responsibility for organising and delivering activities in the Submit to Love art studio, such as supporting members in creating new artworks, planning and delivering events and outings, and engaging members in a variety of other activities in response to their needs and interests.

The role also involves providing advocacy and support (key working) for up to 12 members and ensuring the smooth running of the day service as a member of the co-ordinating team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Activities in the art studio:

•  Support members to engage creatively and develop their personal artistic practise.
• Work alongside the studio manager, day service members and volunteers to plan and deliver events, including artist led workshops, exhibitions and open studios.
•  Plan trips to cultural events and experiences.

Key working:

• Act as key worker for up to 16 members, checking in regularly about their engagement in the centre and their general wellbeing, and supporting them with information, advice, and advocacy as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain contact with members’ families, carers, and relevant statutory partners to facilitate good communication and better provide appropriate support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including comprehensive individual risk assessments.

Day Service co-ordination:

• Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in the day service and other teams at Headway East London to create a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating environment for members.
• Share responsibility for practical tasks in the day service to ensure its smooth running.
• Work sensitively with volunteers, supporting them alongside the volunteer co-ordinator to take on meaningful and rewarding roles in the day service.
