Tasks and Responsibilities

You will support the Director of Operations and the wider staff team by:

• Handling day-to-day administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, booking travel and venues, ordering supplies, and keeping systems and records up to date.
• Providing operational support across the organisation – for example, setting up Zooms, responding to enquiries, keeping our staff directory current, or helping with room bookings and access.
• Assisting with HR administration such as onboarding new starters, booking training, keeping HR records, and supporting recruitment processes.
• Helping with database and records management, including updating spreadsheets or CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and pulling off simple reports.
• Supporting internal communications, such as keeping our policies and procedures well-organised, sharing reminders or updates, and circulating documents.
• Taking minutes at meetings when needed – including Board of Trustees meetings – and making sure decisions and action points are clearly recorded and followed up.
• Supporting governance and trustee engagement, such as helping to organise away days, induction processes or learning sessions for trustees.
• Working closely with the Director of Operations on other operational tasks that may arise, which could include areas like office management, HR, IT or governance – helping to make sure these run smoothly and efficiently.
• Working collaboratively as part of a small team and wider organisation with a willingness to undertake other tasks commensurate with the Operations Assistant role as agreed with your line manager.

In this fixed-term role, you will support the Direct Marketing Manager - Loyalty to manage the donor loyalty programme. You will develop and manage existing and new supporter communication programmes growing loyalty in our supporter base. The aim is to maximise the value of our long-term relationships with individual supporters.

This role is a varied one, with superb development opportunities. As part of a small team, you will be responsible for the print-based communications we send to our supporters but also email production with the view of developing the loyalty digital journey. Furthermore, you'll contribute to the development of our legacy and in memory activities, and high value offer. You'll also have the opportunity to support the supporter acquisition team on projects to gain new donors. Consequently, the role gives you the opportunity to grow your experience in supporter acquisition, as well as loyalty. And you will play a key part in delivering emergency appeals - when the work that you do will have a direct impact in saving older people's lives during a crisis.

As we continue to develop our Individual Giving strategy, you will have the chance to be involved in new initiatives and communications.

We offer hybrid working, with a minimum of one day a week in our London office - One America Square (EC3N 2LB) and the last Thursday of the month in the London office. Please note that our core working days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Travel costs to the London office are not covered by the charity.

We’re recruiting a fundraiser and project development manager to build on our creative, award-winning work addressing climate change and fuel poverty in practical, tangible ways. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who shares our vision of a different energy future: one in which energy is generated renewably and used sustainably whilst leaving no one behind in the journey. We are looking for someone who understands the energy sector and the unique role that a community energy group can play in the energy transition. It is a role for someone who can imagine community solutions to energy sector issues and to translate these into fundable projects. 

Your role will be to work with our board of Directors and staff to come to an understanding of our mission and values and our strategic priorities and develop and resource projects that will enable us to meet those priorities filling gaps in provision. In a practical sense, you will work with stakeholders e.g. our staff, our members, local community groups, local authorities and clients to generate ideas for future projects. The direction of travel should be broadly determined by our recent strategic review.

You will work closely with our CEO and our Board of Directors to prioritise project ideas. You will develop partnerships, refine project ideas, identify sources of funding (Trusts and Grantmakers, Corporate Giving), draft bids and cost delivery on a full cost recovery basis, submit bids and if funding is awarded, mobilise the team to deliver the work. This role provides a big and exciting challenge for someone who knows the energy sector, understands the opportunity of community and grassroots solutions, who brings excellent written communication skills and is willing to learn how to fundraise.

Responsibilities:

Grant Fundraising Support:

• Work with the Selce community (the board, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders) to generate new project ideas that support our strategic mission 
• Research and identify potential grant-making trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies that will fund project proposals
• Prepare high-quality grant applications; this includes calculating budget requirements, formulating proposals, writing proposals
• Manage the grant administration process and maintain accurate records of funding opportunities and applications in the fundraising calendar.

Commissioned Work & Tendering Support:

• Assist in researching and identifying opportunities for commissioned work.
• Support the preparation of tender documents and proposals, including gathering necessary information, budgeting and formatting submissions.
• Provide administrative support for contract negotiation and agreement finalisation.

Community Share Capital

• Draft community share offer brochures and associated documentation
• Support the implementation of strategies to raise community share capital.
• Assist in planning and executing share offer campaigns, including preparing marketing materials and organising investor events.
• Help manage investor communications and data, ensuring compliance with cooperative principles and financial regulations.

Develop and Maintain Relationships

• Assist in building and nurturing relationships with funders, commissioners, and community investors through effective communication.

Skills & Experience:

The ability to imagine and innovate and thereby build fundable project-based solutions working in partnership with stakeholders is more important that fundraising experience per se. This post would suit an Energy Policy graduate that has experience of either community energy or journalism (and therefore brings strong writing skills) or environmental projects

• Knowledge of the Energy Sector: Understand the energy markets and the energy industry. Also bring a good understanding of community energy, fuel poverty, and energy efficiency

Sustainable Living Project Manager 

Salary: £35,500p.a. FTE

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Fundraising to develop and drive Iswe’s income generation strategy and grow a high-performing fundraising team.

This role is ideal for someone experienced and confident enough to lead the function with minimal oversight, but still eager to be hands-on. You will bring a good understanding of the climate, democracy, and systems change funding landscape, ideally along with existing funder relationships. You’ll be creative and entrepreneurial, with the ability to craft compelling cases for support, develop new income streams, and build the operational systems required to raise and manage funds effectively.

Your goal will be to secure £10 million over the next 3–5 years, and position Iswe for long-term financial sustainability.

You will report to the CEO and will manage a Senior Fundraising Officer, with the opportunity to expand the team over time (e.g. an individual giving lead and a high-net-worth donor lead).

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy aligned with Iswe’s organisational goals, including project-specific income generation and unrestricted funding. 

• Identify and pursue diverse fundraising opportunities, with a focus on: 

  • Grant fundraising

  • Institutional partnerships

  • Innovative pooled funding mechanisms

  • Individual giving and public campaigns

  • High-net-worth individuals

  • Revenue-generating partnerships and services

• Provide regular reporting and strategic insights, including risks, opportunities, and performance against targets.

• Work with the CEO to transition key donor relationships smoothly and represent Iswe externally at high-level events and convenings (e.g. COP, Bonn, Davos, New York Climate Week).

Fundraising Execution

• Lead the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of funders, donors, and strategic partners.

• Write and oversee the development of high-quality grant proposals, donor reports, and communications.

• Coordinate funding strategies for individual projects, and support project teams to embed fundraising into their planning and delivery.

Person Specification

Essential

• Substantial fundraising experience (minimum 5+ years), with a proven track record of raising six to seven-figure income across grantmaking, institutional funders, or major donors.

• Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills — with the ability to own a multi-year fundraising roadmap and deliver results with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering fundraising strategies across multiple income streams (e.g. grants, high net worth individuals, public fundraising, or partnerships).

• Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling funding proposals and reports.

• Working knowledge of individual giving strategies, including use of digital tools for donor acquisition and retention.

• Working knowledge of GDPR.

Role Overview

You will lead key delivery areas of the marketing function, focusing on planning, running and evaluating effective, segmented email campaigns, creating compelling assets, building trust through social proof and coordinating our presence at events. Email Campaign Management

• Design and implement segmented email marketing campaigns that generate leads and drive nurture, conversion and engagement

We are looking for an experienced Designer to lead Product and Service Development priorities from our growing Design and Innovation Team at BookTrust.
The Designer, Product and Service Development will lead on activating the key design priorities that have come out of our new strategy. The successful candidate will need to be a multiskilled, ambidextrous designer who can apply human-centered design approaches to online and offline products/services and design end-to-end experiences.
We’re looking for someone with a track record of working with multiple functional teams to design brilliant products and/or services and who has hands-on, practical design experience.
The successful candidate would be involved in projects such as; developing a new group storytelling offer, setting up new co-design cohorts and experimenting with approaches, leading the definition of a new age range product for our early years subscription Story Explorers.

Key Deliverables include

• Lead the design of new products or re-fresh our existing products using design thinking/human-centered approaches. This may include a variety of types of online and offline products incl digital touchpoints and content, in person experiences, resources and books, engagement and training.
• Work with our Research & Impact team to establish a robust design learning approach, that supports us to make rapid progress in designing and delivering new or improved products.
• Work closely with our supply chain, IT, digital, books and content teams to develop prototypes and pilots that will test and refine our product offerings.
