Main Purpose of Job

To ensure the smooth running of the sales floor and main office to offer a high-quality service to donators and customers.

Main Responsibilities

1. Serving customers, dealing with enquiries, arranging delivery when necessary
2. Processing cash, card and other customer payments 
3. Arranging for approved donations of furniture to be collected
4. Handling product returns and payment refund requests
5. Helping with movement, inventory and presentation of stock in the warehouse
6. To assist in the movement of stock by road transport, including van driving. 
7. To assist and support new volunteers as directed. Ensure that volunteers understand the customer service standards that we aspire to as an organisation
8. To follow all statutory Health and Safety requirements and those detailed in the organisation’s Health and Safety policy and risk assessments
9. Work flexibly and to be prepared to contribute to all areas of work in the organisation
10. Collect and share feedback from volunteers, work placement trainees, donors and customers with the CEO
11. To undertake any other reasonable tasks as deemed necessary by the CEO

You will work across the programme team, developing relationships throughout the UK, training professionals to understand the impact and risks of gaming and gambling. You will also be responsible for promoting and marketing the work of Ygam at conferences and events.

You may, on occasion be required to arrange and deliver our City & Guilds assured workshops, both online and face to face and provide support to delegates post training, updating all relevant records and CRM systems.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the research activities of the Patient Evidence Department of Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE).

Main Duties and responsibilities

Perform the following duties in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Head of Patient Research:

• Plan and conduct assigned research individually or jointly in accordance with project deliverables and department strategy
• Document research output including analysis and interpretation of data, maintaining records and databases, drafting progress reports and publications
• Maintain accurate records of patient data, safeguarding the confidentiality of patients and patient data, as necessary
• Writing for internal / external audiences (including academic journals, lay summaries, and, progress reports)
• Contribute to the dissemination of work including presentations at international and national conferences, internal and external meetings and workshops
• Contribute to the development of proposals to secure funding to support future research
•  Engage with patients, families, clinicians, patient organisations and other stakeholders involved in MPE patient evidence projects and other myeloma research
• Represent  MPE at internal / external meetings

Other responsibilities

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of Patient evidence
• Support the wider MPE team with research and evidence requests
• Critically appraise and provide advice to MPE wider team on academic research findings
• Build good relations with members, internal and external stakeholders (including doctors, researchers and medical representatives within companies)
• Respond to external patient organisations’ requests on research and evidence topics
• Attend scientific congresses and meetings
• Develop content for MPE website and social media and other communications
•  Participate in advisory boards for the pharmaceutical industry
• Engage with training and continuing professional development

About you:

• A good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area and either postgraduate qualification or equivalent research experience
• Knowledge and experience of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
• Understanding of principles of Good Clinical Practice in research
• Knowledge and experience of ethical review procedures (desirable)
• Ability to work from home in a virtual setting with a team spread across Europe
• Experience in a related field desirable – preferably working in a non-profit organisation, academic / clinical research, or medical/scientific setting
• Experience in working with patients, researchers, doctors and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry desirable
• Organised, with excellent project management and time management skills

About MPE

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is a pan-European organisation representing 52 myeloma and amyloidosis patient groups from over 33 European countries. It is registered as an international non-profit organisation under Belgian Law. A Board mainly composed of patients and caregivers is elected by the membership to oversee the strategy and governance of the organisation. A team of 13 staff members runs remotely the day-to-day operations, programmes and services within 4 divisions: Access and Policy, Medical Education and Scientific Engagement, Patient Evidence and Member and Patient Community Programmes.

MPE is dedicated to improving the treatment, care and quality of life of patients with myeloma and AL Amyloidosis. To this end, the main goals of the organisation are:

• Collaborating on projects to the benefit of the myeloma community
• Exchanging information and best practice
• Developing existing patient groups and encouraging and facilitating the setting up of new groups
• Helping to shape appropriate health-related policies and initiatives on a European and national level
• Ensuring patients across Europe receive timely access to new treatment

• Developing a strong evidence base for the needs and wants of patients and their role in research

About the Patient Evidence department

The MPE Patient Evidence department was established in 2020 to generate evidence important to patients with myeloma and their families and is led by Dr Eilidh Duncan. Our goal is to understand unmet needs in the patient population and design patient-focussed research questions which will support new understandings and knowledge. MPE partners with academia, other patient organisations, industry and regulatory bodies where possible to understand more about what gaps exist within the myeloma landscape and how to best generate evidence on these. We work alongside MPE’s policy and access team to anticipate what questions need to be asked and what the data needs are for upcoming medicines approval processes.

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children a hope and a future. The Church Relationships Lead will work as part of the national Volunteer Programmes (VP) Team, reporting to the Early Intervention Network Support Manager and collaborating with staff responsible for programme training and development.

This is an exciting time to join our growing VP team to support an increasing number of churches who have chosen to partner with TLG through running the Early Intervention (EI) programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting EI Coordinators to effectively run their centres, as well as training new EI coach teams.

• Provide expert telephone nursing advice, support and information on Parkinson’s, signposting clients to appropriate internal and external resources as necessary.

• Develop and update professional knowledge of all aspects of Parkinson’s and Parkinsonism to ensure that the information and advice provided is accurate and based on best available evidence.

• Undertake national helpline work to ensure cover across the helpline’s working hours and in line with guidance and as part of a dedicated team.

• Maintain your own knowledge of the work of the charity and other health and social care providers.

• Ability to provide information on Parkinson’s medications without prescribing or recommending specific drugs. 

• Knowledge of the importance of raising safeguarding concerns.

About the role

The Regional Communications Officer role is an exciting, varied position working with Emmaus communities located in the South East region of the UK to increase their profile and engage supporters.

As part of a wider team, you will also share ideas and draw on each other’s experiences to maximise PR, digital and communications opportunities.

A typical working week within this role can include:

This is a part time position working four days per week (30 hours), Monday to Friday.

Within this role, you can be based at home or in an Emmaus community. Wherever you are based, maintaining positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is vitally important.  The current patch for this role is Emmaus Brighton & Hove, Emmaus Greenwich and Emmaus Dover. Regular travel to these three communities will be required (usually one community visit per week). Travel to team meetings, usually held in Birmingham, and other locations will also be required on occasion.

Who are we looking for?

We require someone with a strong skillset and at least two years’ experience working in a busy communications, public relations or marketing role. Although not essential, knowledge and understanding of homelessness and the charity sector would also be an advantage.

Creativity and passion are a must. You will have a broad range of communications skills, love seeing your creative ideas come to life and keen to develop your skillset within a national homelessness charity.

SUDEP Action is the only UK charity focused on preventing epilepsy-related deaths. We have the only epilepsy bereavement service freely available to anyone suddenly bereaved by epilepsy (including SUDEP). By representing the voices of those who have died and who are bereaved, we aim to learn from deaths, and use research, policy and campaigns to raise awareness and take action that helps save lives. 

Working both independently and with the wider team you will deliver a high-quality community fundraising service. We’re looking for someone who has worked in a fundraising department and/or similar role before, preferably in the charity sector. Engaging confidently with people and feeling comfortable in adapting your approach to different audiences is a key skill for this role - whether they are major donors, corporates or community fundraisers. This is particularly important as many of our supporters & fundraisers are bereaved.

About the role

This tole is based in Cumbria. Turning the Spotlight is a busy service supporting families experiencing domestic abuse including perpetrators. You will manage case workers and facilitators in our dedicated healthy relationships programme.

As a Team Leader you will:

• provide leadership, advice and guidance to your team
• monitor the progress & quality of support delivered to service users
• develop your team, addressing any individual development/performance needs, setting both individual & team objectives & undertaking annual appraisals
• provide safeguarding advice & guidance as required
• promote effective communication channels including coordinating & facilitating regular team meetings, sharing feedback & highlighting best practice
• manage external project specific work & relationships as required

You will need:

• Experience of managing & supporting a team; including performance management, one to ones and staff development
• Experience of supporting victims and vulnerable people
• Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection requirements
• To be able to work without direct supervision, prioritising effectively to deal with competing demands
• Good communication, negotiation & advisory skills, both written & verbal when interacting with a range of agencies & individuals
• Experience of delivering behaviour change programmes to perpetrators of domestic abuse & those at risk of becoming perpetrators

About the role

The Welfare Scheme Assessor will be a part of a small, but committed team with big ambitions that works cohesively and effectively together to get things done.

You’ll be an important and valued member of the team and, with the support of North Lincolnshire Citizens Advice, will be responsible for ensuring client focused outcomes are met in a pressurised environment.

You’ll be the first point of contact for residents applying for support from the welfare assistance scheme. You’ll offer applicants a holistic assessment designed to maximise household income, reduce expenditure and build greater financial wellbeing.

You’ll enable people to move as quickly as possible to problem resolution and to manage their essential needs so they are less likely to fall into debt and manage cost of living increases.

You’ll be responsible for making decisions on applications for financially based welfare support and will administer funds to households who would otherwise struggle to buy food or pay essential utility bills or meet other essential living costs.

You’ll enable people to take control of their financial wellbeing and signpost them to local statutory services and community groups that provide practical, social and emotional support.

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with Sustrans as part of our Strategic Communications team. 

As the Internal Communications Officer you will work collaboratively with diverse teams across the organisation, to schedule and produce a range of inspiring, informative and engaging internal communications.

The Role

Reporting to the Service Delivery Coach in the East of England, you will have the ability to support stroke survivors to identify their goals. Using strong assessment skills and a person-centred approach enabling them to maximise their recovery and improve communication.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Supporting new stroke survivors and their carers to adjust to life after stroke following hospital discharge into the community.

· Providing personalised information, advice and support.

· Enabling stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.

· Working with other health and social care professionals across the stroke pathway to ensure high quality support.

About You

You will have experience in:

· Experience/ background of providing person centred support to people with a disability or long-term health condition and their carers.

· Excellent IT skills and an ability to maintain accurate records.

· An affinity with the values of the Stroke Association.

· A flexible approach and an ability to effectively manage a caseload.
