Job description
Place-Based Physical Activity Clinical Champion (PACC)

Location: Kidlington, Oxfordshire, OX5 2DN
Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 (FTE)
Hours: 15 hours per week
Job Type: Part time
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

This is an exciting opportunity to join Active Oxfordshire and to work as part of a Sport England project evaluating a place-based approach to the highly valued national training programme. This is a key programme that supports achieving Active Oxfordshire’s strategic priorities and is a fantastic opportunity to lead and drive forward the delivery and development of the PACC programme.

About the role:

You will be responsible for organising and delivering clinician-to-clinician training on Physical Activity for the Management and Prevention of Long-Term Conditions to other NHS health care professionals.

You will work closely with both Active Oxfordshire and the central PACC team, make use of their own networks and build relationships with local and regional stakeholders and organisations, developing a local online community of practice and encourage healthcare professionals in Oxfordshire to continue to develop their knowledge and skills.

About you:

Your background will be from a range of clinical settings, and you will be able to demonstrate good clinical decision-making skills and knowledge of the healthcare system

You will have experience of formal classroom and clinical-based teaching, and of developing staff development and education programmes. You will have exceptional online teaching and presentation skills, and be able to engage an audience and deliver information in an interesting way

You will have proven knowledge of the role of physical activity as a tool for primary and secondary prevention and management of long-term conditions. You will have a good understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy, and appreciate the implications of this on engagement

What we offer:

The role is a fixed-term position until 31st March 2027, working 15 hours per week.

You will receive a salary of £26,000 – £29,000 (FTE) per annum, and benefits including a generous 10% contributory pension scheme, Cycle to Work scheme, 38 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata) and our new bespoke Employee Support and Wellbeing Programme.

If the best candidate for the role is currently working in a regional NHS organisation, we will actively support a secondment arrangement for the duration of the project wherever possible.

Hybrid working is available, which means typically one day a week is in the office (Monday) with the rest of the week working remotely from home, within the community or with partner organisations.

Active Oxfordshire welcomes applications from all sections of the community and actively encourages diversity within our team to maximise achievements, creativity and good practice. We know that people from certain backgrounds can be hugely under-represented in our sectors, and we want to change this. We are therefore genuinely keen and particularly interested to receive applications from people from diverse ethnic communities, from disabled people, neurodivergent people, people who identify as LGBTQIA and people with experience of facing barriers to physical activity.

We want all candidates to have an equal chance to shine in this process – please let us know if there’s anything we can do to make sure the application process works for you (Further contact details can be found in the job pack).

How to apply:

Please refer to the job pack for further information on how to apply and closing dates.
Please note a satisfactory DBS check will be required for this role.
By applying for this role, you are stating that you are eligible to work in the UK. Active Oxfordshire is unable to apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.
