Talking Matters Northumberland is a partnership between Mental Health Matters and Sunderland Counselling Service; two local and national providers of psychological therapies with a strong track record of success.
About the role
We are seeking a qualified and motivated High Intensity Psychological Therapist to join our team. The post holders will provide high intensity interventions - predominantly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). They will work with clients who have a range of complex Anxiety and Depression related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
We offer training opportunities in a secondary High Intensity modality (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Couples Therapy for Depression). We also have 4 clinical CPD events planned for 2024/25.
The post holders will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities.
About you
You will hold a Clinical Qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; typically the Post-Graduate Diploma in CBT or in High Intensity Psychological Therapies. We also welcome applications from candidates who have other Post-Graduate qualifications in an IAPT appropriate evidence based therapy.
We welcome applications from trainees approaching formal qualification in any of the above.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a high volume, performance managed service, manage your own caseload and time and be an effective communicator both in written and verbal communication.

You will go through our comprehensive training program in your first few weeks with MHM, which will give you the tools you need to succeed in the role, as well as offering a great opportunity to get to know your new colleagues.
