The Finance Systems Analyst is a newly created role which will have responsibility for the efficient running and maintenance of ClientEarth’s finance systems, including Access Focal Point- which has been in use for over five years and Workday Adaptive Planning, a new system for the organisation. This role is required due to the rapid growth of ClientEarth and investment in new systems. You will provide essential support for current finance processes, suggest improvements to those processes to maximise their value and provide input into systems strategy for the finance department into the future.

Meet your Manager

In this role, you will be managed by Catherine Adams. A finance professional for thirty four years, Catherine has had a career of two halves, first in the corporate sector working for BDO Binder Hamlyn,  Boots UK, Waterstones and Tesco and then in the Charity sector, gaining an MSC in Charity finance from Bayes Business school, working for MSI Reproductive Choices and joining ClientEarth in 2021. As Head of Finance, Planning and Analysis, Catherine manages a team of ten business partners supporting the programme and core staff in their vital mission to use the power of the Law to bring about systematic change to protect the earth. 

Main Duties 

Systems improvement and efficency

• • Supporting the Head of FP&A with the Workday Adaptive modelling and build to enable value added performance review and reporting in line with organisational strategy.

Systems Administration

• • Administrator for Workday Adaptive and Focal Point to include maintenance and regular review of users, user profiles, password management.

Role requirements

• An accounting qualification – part or full or qualified by experience
• Previous experience working in a finance team, able to demonstrate an understanding of financial processes (essential)
• Experience with Access Focal Point and Workday Adaptive or similar finance systems (essential)
• Experience working with and reporting from large databases and an understanding of data structures (essential)

Transition Together is seeking to continue the work of deepening connection and growing the voice of the Transition Movement in England and Wales through the freelance engagement of three Network Weavers. This exciting project will see this team, supported by Transition Together staff, co-design an in person Transition Assembly early next year to guide the future of our Movement in the UK as well as build relationships with Transitioners across Wales and England and connect to emerging and established networks across the UK. About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced fundraiser to join a successful and thriving team. Working within the Trusts and Foundations team, the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager will grow income for the charity through high value grants and support the directorate’s ambition for securing sustainable long-term funding. The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is a high-profile organisation and trade association leading the international clean energy transition as the world seeks to stay within 1.5c global warming target. Our mission is to ensure that wind power establishes itself as the answer to today’s energy challenges, providing substantial environmental and economic benefits.

Over the next two years, GWEC expects to rapidly scale up the number and size of the grants that we are managing globally. The post-holder will play a pivotal role in securing new grants, and building the capacity of the global staff team to effectively manage the grants once secured. Headline overview of responsibilities: 

- Grant identification and pipeline management: Conduct research to identify potential grant funding opportunities. Conduct research and analysis on the reporting and financial requirements of prospective donors. Maintain the funding pipeline/ grant management database

- Grant application oversight: Manage the end-to-end grant application process for new grants.

- Budget and financial management: Collaborate with the project and finance teams to develop project budgets. Monitor spending against grants in relation to activities delivered. Ensure Project Leads receive monthly spend updates. Ensure donor budgets are utilised as directed, financial reporting is on-track, and any alterations are communicated internally and externally. Support Project Leads to re-forecast budgets.

- Grant compliance: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the project delivery team is inducted on contractual obligations, and provide support and advice regarding adherence to contracts throughout the grant period. Support on grant management documentation, including quality assuring processes. Support the project delivery teams in the preparation and submission of donor reports, through until grant close-out.

- Grant Performance Management: Ensure that all grant management tools are set up with each grant’s inception period. Coordinate quarterly grant oversight meetings, and hold project delivery teams to account for delivery of projects. Ensure GWEC fulfils its obligations to donors as per grant contracts. Support the finance team to liaise with auditors throughout audits.

- Knowledge sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and statutory funding. Share technical advice, grant specific guidance and project management best practices and tools. Contribute to GWECs grant-related systems, policies, processes, and guidelines.

- Strategy delivery: Support the Grants Director in the delivery of the fundraising strategy, including assuming responsibility for the delivery of identified tasks within the team’s annual work plan. Engage in regular monitoring of progress against the work plan.

Essentia Person Criteria:

• Right to work in UK or Portugal

• Fluency in written and spoken English

• University Degree (BA or Bsc)

• 3 or more years relevant  experience, in either a non-profit organisation or a grant making organisation

Wader populations have declined dramatically across the UK in recent decades. The RSPB and its partners are working to try and reverse these declines in Norfolk and Suffolk. Farmers and land managers play a crucial role in creating and improving habitats for iconic species such as Lapwing and Redshank, with the support of experienced advisers. Could this be you? Are you inspired by the challenge of restoring populations of our precious farmland wildlife across two nationally important landscapes? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

The post holder will work closely with our local RSPB team. They will identify opportunities and work with landowners to improve grassland habitats for species such as Lapwing, Redshank, Avocet and Oystercatcher. This will be delivered by carrying out site visits, liaising with the landowner to ensure the needs of and benefits to the farm business are incorporated, suggesting improvements to water level management, developing grazing schemes, and developing funding applications with landowners. The role will also involve liaising with partners including Natural England, Norfolk and Suffolk Wildlife Trusts, National Trust, the Broads Authority and the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape.

The Wet Grassland Adviser will play a key role in supporting farmers and land managers to improve wet grassland habitats for nature, including through:

• Building partnerships with and between landowners, NGOs and other stakeholders
• Providing advice to farm businesses with new and existing agri-environment scheme agreements
• Designing habitat enhancement schemes which benefit breeding waders (with support from other staff)
• Managing a team of volunteers carrying out breeding wader surveys
• Developing communications and organising events for land managers to build support and share experience

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Demonstrable experience of conservation and/or agricultural land management, or of providing landowner advice
• Demonstrate an understanding of the farmed environment and the economics driving it.
• Excellent knowledge of wet grassland ecology and general natural history, with a focus on breeding waders.
• In depth experience of agri-environment schemes (e.g. Countryside Stewardship, Environmental Land Management Schemes) and their application.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentational) - including an ability to speak confidently in public to a variety of audiences.
• Demonstrable experience of engaging with the farming community.
• Experience of building productive relationships with land managers and partner organisations.
• Ability to manage volunteers and set clear work priorities.
• Competent user of core MS Office programmes.
• Ability to travel and work flexibly; able to drive in the UK as sites may not be served by public transport.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• A good understanding of hydrology and water level management techniques, although on the job training and support will be provided.
• Ability to carry out wetland bird surveys.
• Competency in use of GIS.

This is a fixed-term, full-time role ending 31st March 2026. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.

We’re looking for an experienced project officer with a passion for working with communities, to inspire and support people to discover, explore and take community-led action for nature in Greater Manchester. This role will work closely with established partners and existing RSPB local groups and volunteers, including the Greater Manchester Swift Champions, to develop new opportunities to work with community groups, focusing on supporting creating new habitats for swifts, one of the UK’s most threatened species. You will explore opportunities for working more closely with young people, with the aspiration to establish two RSPB youth groups in Greater Manchester and a Swift Youth Action Group focused on 16 – 24-year-olds. You will identify where the RSPB can best support and enhance nature, with guidance from local conservation staff.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead front-line delivery of RSPB’s community engagement work at a local level, inspiring people to connect with nature through an 18-month programme of events and activities. Central to this will be recruitment and management of a network of volunteers. The Project Officer will be responsible for developing and running a rolling programme of training to enable volunteers to develop skills to allow them to continue to support nature-based initiatives. 

You will have experience of delivering community projects, events and experience of volunteer recruitment, induction and management, and the ability to motivate volunteers to independently deliver organisational objectives. The confidence to make decisions that enable the continued delivery of key objectives and to keep the project on track is crucial, as is the ability to communicate these decisions, where applicable, with stakeholders and partners.

Specific tasks:

• To lead our community engagement work in Greater Manchester, inspiring local communities to take action for nature, ensuring work is resilient and sustainable beyond the life of the project.
• To build a full picture of local environmental networks and the range of nature recovery and environmental work taking place locally, identifying opportunities to develop new partnerships.
• Act as an advocate for nature recovery within a diverse range of sectors including local government and private businesses to further our support for nature.
• Build links and strengthen existing relationships with RSPB Local Groups and other volunteer-led work taking place in urban green spaces, liaising closely with partners.
• To lead and continue to grow the Greater Manchester Swift Champion network of volunteers with the support of the Species Volunteer Network (SVN), which will allow us to do more for Swifts within local communities.
• Identify opportunities for youth involvement in establishing a Swift Champions Youth Action Group and two new RSPB Youth Groups, working closely with relevant stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver a series of volunteer recruitment, induction, and training days to increase numbers of new active volunteers within Manchester as well as building resilience and upskilling existing volunteers.
• Develop and deliver an 18-month programme of diverse nature-based events and activities (with a focus on Swifts including the installation of Swift boxes and/or bricks).
• To embed evaluation measures and provide regular reports to show impact across Greater Manchester.

• Experience of developing and managing projects.
• Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers.
• Great verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience or understanding of community led nature conservation action including working with both adults and young people on co-created outcomes. 
• The ability to deliver reporting and evaluation to show impact against agreed objectives.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage and deliver a diverse workload ensuring effective prioritisation and balancing of the needs of a range of stakeholders.
