Job description
We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Senior Development Manager to identify new funding opportunities and develop high quality funding proposals that generate income for CSE’s work in line with CSE’s strategy and objectives. The successful candidate will nurture new and existing partner, client, and funder relationships.
Pay and conditions
- The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week (minimum of 30 hours to be considered for the right candidate).
- The starting salary for the role will be grade H £41,802 - £50,071
- Flexible, hybrid working permitted for this role with a minimum of two to three working days presence in the office expected.

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Work effectively with others to develop funding proposals for CSE projects.
- Lead the response to competitive Invitations to Tender, which require a specific and timely response to a client’s brief and the ability to highlight and sell relevant CSE strengths and expertise.
- Support our development process by giving direction, supervision, and support to all contributing staff.
- Work with delivery teams and colleagues to set project budgets, costing work accurately using CSE’s development and financial tools.
- Ensure effective set up of new projects and facilitate the handover when a project bid has a successful outcome.
- Ensure appropriate quality checks are carried out on all proposals.

All CSE staff receive training and are given study time to complete the NEA City & Guilds in Energy Awareness.
Essential attributes for this role include:
- Minimum Maths and English GCSE
- Extensive experience in a project development or fundraising role with a proven track record of securing funding for projects or services.
- Familiarity with project management practices and systems.
- A commitment to CSEs work and charitable mission.
- The ability to construct clear and effective project proposals and tender documents.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good administrative skills with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Self-motivated with a flexible attitude and a proven ability to manage own time and multitask.
- Empathy towards the challenges people face and communities face on their journey to net-zero.
- A general understanding of sustainable energy, fuel poverty and climate change.

About the role
We have a new and worthwhile opportunity as a Project Manager to join the delivery team to increase the impact of our behaviour change work in schools across Wales. You will be working to create a culture that makes it easier for children to walk, wheel, scoot, or cycle.
You will provide project management for 'Active Journeys’, involving effective line management and coordination of a project team of School Officers that deliver behavioural change activities.
As the Project Manager you will lead in the development of educational resources, supporting the integration of active travel activities in schools. You will also support with organising key events and workshops that showcase Active Travel Schools best practice.
This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to the nominated hub/office base in Cardiff.

You will be competent in leading, motivating, and managing a diverse team. Having excellent coaching and supportive skills, you will help others’ growth and development, while placing importance on their well-being.
You will have the ability to engage and build relationships with ease across a wide range of people from various backgrounds and marginalised communities, and to produce inclusive content for these diverse audiences.
You will be able to plan & prioritise your own workload and those of others, in addition to taking an imaginative approach to problem solving.
You will be highly skilled in project management with a meticulous approach to record keeping and report writing.

Global Canopy is a data-driven not for profit delivering real transparency and accountability for market impacts on nature and people. Our special focus is on ending deforestation – an essential step in achieving urgent global goals on climate, nature and human rights.
We are looking to appoint a Nature case writer within Global Canopy’s education and learning team.
Education is critical to GC’s goal to drive uptake of nature-related risk management practices in financial, business and policymaking communities in both emerging and developed markets; and to help strengthen capacity among civil society to help hold powerful actors to account.
Case studies and use cases are an important part of capacity building through education and learning, helping market participants develop an understanding of key nature concepts in the context of real-life scenarios, and support the development of critical analysis, problem-solving, decision-making, and implementation in relation to nature-related issues and nature-related finance.
To be successful in this role, these are the things that will matter the most:
- Strong writing and research skills, as well as excellent analytical, communications, and interviewing skills.
- An ability to navigate multi-stakeholder projects with emotional intelligence
- Communication skills that enable engagement with senior professionals across a range of sectors from policy to finance on potentially complex and sensitive issues
- Knowledge and experience of either nature-related finance and/or global trade and supply chains gained ideally either working with or within the private sector
Essential behavioural competencies:
