Visitor Experience Manager
Location: Slimbridge

This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays.

Slimbridge Wetland Centre is looking for a Visitor Experience Manager to lead both our paid and volunteer teams, champion cross departmental working and achieve an inspiring and engaging visitor experience.

Working with the General Manager, you will ensure that visitor experience is at the forefront of everything we do, including how we engage with our visitors before, during and after their visit.

As our Visitor Experience Manager, you will lead and support our Learning, Engagement & Events, Visitor Services and Administration teams. You are responsible for conveying a warm welcome at the admissions desk and the business reception, delivering events & engagement programmes throughout the centre and overseeing formal learning, and the Scott House Museum.

You will also act as duty manager on a rota basis ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day activities within the centre, communicating to all on site the expectations of the day.

Responsibilities:

The Role
An exciting and varied role, you will come in and work to ensure the smooth running of the gift processing within the department, liaise with Finance for reconciliation of income and expenditure, and manage the fundraising database efficiently and effectively.

Your role will involve the management of the database for the Charity, regular reporting on results from the database, ensure monthly reconciliation of the database with SAGE along with working with the Fundraising team to identify and deliver improvements to the database to ensure the smooth running of processes.

Essential to this role will be data selections and donation processing. This will involve selecting data for appeals, appeal emails and Investigator and Year in Review mailings. You will manage data received from acquisition activity, including lead generation, cash, regular gift and new weekly lottery players and add them to the supporter database.

The Candidate
We are looking for an energetic self-starter with a positive attitude who has strong analytical and excel skills. You should have previous experience of working with a supporter database or CRM (Access Charity CRM would be an advantage but not essential) Furthermore, you should have knowledge of selecting and importing supporter data through bulk imports and exports. Ideally, you will have worked within the Charity or non-for-profit sector, but we do welcome applications from other sectors.

In addition to this, you should be proficient in Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365.

The Environment Investigation Agency investigate and campaign against environmental crime and abuse. The Role

The fundraising team at EIA, is responsible for raising income across trusts and statutory funders, as well as raising funds from individuals. The income raised from public fundraising has increased in recent years and they are investing in this area to further increase unrestricted income so that we can conduct even more investigative and campaigning work to protect our natural world.

It is an exciting time to join EIA, as we embark on a new organisational strategy and a new fundraising strategy. The Role

This role will support the Financial Controller to deliver a high-quality payments and cash management service. The role of the Cash and Payments Manager is to oversee the Operational Finance team (3 people) and be responsible for managing, monitoring, and reporting on all cash transactions. You will manage cash management systems and processes, recommending and implementing any improvements to current processes and controls.

You will review and approve bi-weekly supplier/expenses payment runs ensuring that there is sufficient cash available and review, sample check and provide second stage approval for payment run files on the banking systems to ensure accurate payments.

The Meridian One Community Garden serves as a space where we focus on cultivating fruit, salad, and vegetable produce. We involve the local community by hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions, welcoming school visits, and organising various community events.

TCV is seeking a Senior Project Officer with expertise in community engagement, event coordination, and managing community facilities. The garden, which was established one year ago, encompasses facilities such as an office, a community meeting/education room, toilets, and a spacious polytunnel.

The Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including planning and executing community events, maintaining site Health & Safety, leading volunteers in practical projects like building wooden planters, tending to garden plants, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties such as procurement, risk assessments, social media updates, and task reporting. They will also lead activities for the under 5’s Nature Explorers group, school visits, themed evening events, and family weekends. Additionally, they'll organise corporate volunteering sessions and cover holiday shifts for the Green Gym gardening program. Previous events have included 'Pampering and Enrichment,' 'Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent' workshops, and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photo exhibition, as well as our weekend family events featuring free food, music, and arts and crafts activities.

This role involves being friendly and open to various people who visit, from the toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, to our volunteer gardeners, to senior staff from the local authority. There are two other people working part-time at the garden, and TCV provides thorough training and support from a helpful local team.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what’s equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We’d therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, with perhaps experience of working in a community centre setting.

In Spring 2024, TCV will be taking on the management of an additional nearby meanwhile space. The new Senior Project Officer will join us at an exciting time when we begin to turn that space into a new community tree nursery. Working with local people to gather seeds from significant trees in the surrounding area, we aim to grow saplings which will go on to be distributed for planting around London.

Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times. Occasionally, to avoid lone working in the absence of another colleague, there will be the opportunity to work from home. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. This post holder would be expected to attend those evening and weekend events.

The Public Affairs Manager will play a key role in delivering the organisation’s external affairs strategy, helping to communicate their research and shape government policy, with a primary focus on Westminster. As a leading organisation in the green homes sector this charity has ambitious goals to influence public policy to accelerate the drive to decarbonise homes, heat and energy and this position will play an integral role in supporting this work. 

You will help deliver the public affairs function developing political briefings, meeting politicians, forwarding the charities positions, and attending parliamentary events.  When needed you will also engage with devolved administrations and cross-party groups, as well as support in party conference engagement and work with partners and coalition groups to help deliver aims and objectives.  

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced Public Affairs professional who understands the political environment in Westminster and across the UK and is passionate about tackling the climate crisis.

You should be knowledgeable on how legislation and policy is developed across government and how to influence it and inform the debate. You will also have a passion for driving practical solutions to the climate emergency.

This is a home-based position that would suit a candidate living within close proximity to London for regular attendance at meetings and events.

The Operations Team comprises a number of functions within our organisation, including finance, people, compliance, governance, facilities and IT, and works cross-functionally to provide critical resource and a centre of expertise.

We are now seeking an IT Manager to join our Operations Team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role

As an IT Manager, you will ensure our information technology infrastructure, systems, policies and applications are secure and reliable.

You will provide thought leadership regarding our IT systems, policies, and applications, alongside having oversight of IT risk management and the implementation of our IT strategy.

Spending the majority of your time managing our IT estate, you will also be involved in IT strategy and associated policies and risk management and business continuity activities. You will take the lead on IT training and awareness and undertake some system administration for our MS Dynamics system.

Additionally, you will:

- Manage our IT budget and equipment
- Review existing IT contracts for outsourced services
- Lead in the development, review and execution of our IT strategy
- Develop an annual work plan for implementation
- Identify, evaluate and mitigate IT risks
- Develop and implement existing IT risk management policies and procedures
- Devise and deliver comprehensive cyber security awareness training to staff

About You

To be considered as an IT Manager, you will need:

- Experience with business continuity planning and disaster recovery strategies
- Experience leading IT training programmes
- Experience presenting to colleagues and running training sessions
- Strong knowledge of cyber security practices and risk management frameworks
- Knowledge of data privacy laws
- Relevant qualifications and experience in information technology, computer science or a related field
