As the Poppy Appeal Manager in North East London, your main role is to achieve income, expenditure, and contribution targets, ensuring the success of the appeal. Collaborating with the Regional Poppy Appeal Manager, you will create and manage an income and expenditure budget, providing monthly commentary. Responsibilites:
Fundraising – General
- To deliver a continuous fundraising operation to meet the short, medium and long-term revenue needs of the charity as determined by the CEO and Board of Trustees
- Establish and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and an in-depth understanding of the charity’s needs and priorities to ensure your fundraising activity contributes positively
- Development and maintenance of key resources to support our fundraising activity, including case for support, programme schedule and budgets
- To develop corporate sponsorship proposals and be prepared to respond promptly to funding offers and opportunities
- To steward regular donors, ensure they receive appropriate thanks and are kept informed
- Develop strategy to increase number of regular donors through the implementation of a regular giving programme

About the role
We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled Business Development Manager with a passion for relationship building and service sales. Established in 1936 and one of Scotland’s leading wildlife bodies, the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with some 3500 members. The Club Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of running the Club, including its small team of staff, volunteers, an annual turnover of about £350,000 and assets which include built property (HQ). They will champion and drive forward the Club’s vision and goals. There will be emphasis on strong leadership to manage and support staff, volunteers and trustees; ensuring the highest standard of services to members; planning and reporting on the annual programme of Club-wide events and developing future priorities.
KEY OBJECTIVES:

Key Responsibilities:

Role: Centre Manager

Scope and Purpose:
As Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the property, grounds and vehicles and manage the on-site facilities team and volunteers, leading them to support & deliver an exceptional Go Beyond experience for children who come on our Breaks. These are residential breaks for small groups of children aged 8-13, who stay with us Monday to Friday during most weeks throughout the year. Delivery of the breaks will be managed by the Team Leader and their team.
You will ensure the centre is operated and maintained in accordance with all relevant legislation, making sure we are safe, secure, and compliant. We have ambitions to develop our site and you will help us with continual improvement and improving our environmental and sustainability practices.
The role includes the facilities management of the centre to facilitate delivery of daily operations, including children’s activities. We aim to maximise the use of the centre and generate income. Your role will be pivotal in raising our profile in the local community, encouraging people to use our centre, supporting potential events, third-party use of our facilities and including the small, self-contained cottage which we let.
You will lead the local team including; Team Leaders, Maintenance, Housekeeping and Centre Cook along with volunteers (including groups of corporate volunteers who help us with on-site tasks). Ensuring not only the buildings, grounds and on-site activity areas are always at their best and ready to be enjoyed but ensuring the centre is kept clean and welcoming for our visitors and that our children and receive a healthy, nutritious meal during their stay. As a charity, we need to make sure this is all kept within budget.
You will need to be financially astute with a keen eye for detail and have practical and working knowledge of general building and estate management, HACCP, COSHH, Legionella, Asbestos, Fire Safety, Risk Assessment and Waste & contractor Management.
You will have a sound knowledge of Safeguarding and understand the importance of how activities can develop curiosity, confidence, resilience and communication skills in children and young people.
You will be a proactive, independent thinker able to manage themselves and lead a team to inspire and ensure Go Beyond provide the best opportunities to young people whilst they are visiting our centres.
Key responsibilities
Operations:
- Responsible for assessing risks, ensuring Health & Safety compliance, asset management, planning, and delivering action plans and regularly reviewing these.
- Responsible for ensuring all contractors are fully inducted and follow the site safeguarding protocol.
- Responsible for Contract management including reviews and renewals.
- To manage the onsite Housekeeping, Maintenance, Catering personnel and Team Leaders including; managing performance, target setting, planning staff training needs, cascading operational objectives, and managing leave and absences.
- Develop, implement and review the Land Management and Centre Management plans.
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of all resources assigned to the centre, including site security, buildings, vehicles, land and equipment and ensuring they are maintained and fit for purpose, replaced as required and set out in the management plan.
- Maintain GDPR and other legal, regulatory and compliance records and planning and oversight of servicing, maintenance and regulatory safety checks.
- To manage resources in a cost-effective manner and improve sustainability in all aspects of our work, including reducing energy, improving recycling, and harvesting rainwater.
- Manage and liaise with customers and agents for lettings (Farmhouse and Cottage) providing assistance as required.
Breaks:
- Accountable for the safety and welfare of the staff, children and young people
- Deputy Safeguarding lead.
- Responsible for defining the strategic growth and development of the centre delivery programme.
- Produce centre based quarterly reports for SLT regarding H&S, Incidents and accidents, Centre and Land development projects including those completed by Corporate Volunteers
- Produce centre based quarterly reports for SLT regarding breaks, young people and volunteers
- Manage the allocated expenditure budget and reporting
- Develop new and existing relationships with the local community and partner agencies e.g. youth organisations.
- Ability to deputise for Director for Children and/or Director of Development and Sustainability as required.

ROLE SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice President, Partnerships based in the UK, you will work closely with the teams in our dual headquarters (Toronto, Canada and London, UK), as well as programme and fundraising teams across Africa, Asia, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. You will be responsible for coordinating a variety of functions that support Right To Play’s (RTP’s) global business development and grant management strategy, supporting proposal development for new funding opportunities and grant management for existing donor partnerships. The role will also include internal support for different fundraising offices globally, to ensure joined up approaches are undertaken to secure and manage grant funding across RTP.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
#1. Funding Identification (15% of Time)
- Lead global prospecting for new business development by tracking funding opportunities, and researching suitable new funding opportunities from governments, private organizations, and foundations in line with RTP’s theory of change and organizational priorities.
- Research and understand the current funding strategies of institutional donors and philanthropic giving organisations to support strategic decision-making on new business development. This will include a focus on regional, country, and sectoral funding trends relevant to RTP’s geographic and thematic areas.
- Monitor funding opportunities and ‘calls’, ensuring that the relevant departments globally within RTP are informed in a timely manner with tailored information.
- Act as the global focal point for the internal application approval process by ensuring documentation for go/no go and proposal processes are compliant with procedures and stored in appropriate online portals.
#2. Proposal Development and Grant Management Support (30% of Time)
- Work in conjunction with relevant departments across RTP (including Global Programs, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, and Communications departments), to lead the development of different thematic and programme funding materials that will support new donor acquisition and strong donor stewardship.
- Support programme funding personnel across the organisation in the development of specific materials to assist in new business development and equip fundraisers to seek relevant funding opportunities.
- Support the development of proposals in response to specific funding opportunities as required by the Global Partnerships team and occasionally the Country Office teams, in some cases this will be leading on certain proposals.
- Support programme funding personnel across the organisation in the development of project narrative and financial reports, to ensure high standards of reporting and donor stewardship are maintained. In some cases, this will be leading on certain reports.
- Provide additional ad-hoc support to fundraising activities, personnel and offices across the organisation globally as required across the programme funding cycle to ensure strong proposal development and grant management practices are maintained.
- Participate in, and represent, RTP in external meetings and networks as required.
#3. Data Management, System Compliance and Coordination (40% of Time)
- Track funding applications, pipelines and reports across all fundraising departments globally, using RTP’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) platform and other tracking tools as required.
- Work closely with fundraising offices across the organisation to ensure timely and accurate use of RTP’s CRM platform so accurate fundraising data is maintained in the system.
- Support quarterly reporting and analysis of global funding progress, funding pipelines, funding priorities, tracking against targets/objectives, and disseminate the information globally to all relevant staff.
- Support the preparation of materials (including presentations) on organisational funding performance for the senior Executive Management Teams.
- Manage internal information databases and Microsoft SharePoint sites ensuring documents related to proposals, donor reports, fundraising materials etc. are stored according to agreed protocols and disseminated across the fundraising and program delivery offices.
- Work closely with the Global Fundraising Operations Manager and Global Business Analyst to ensure the platform remains an accurate and effective database of donor information and responding to ad-hoc tasks as necessary.
- Lead on the preparation and coordination of various monthly procedures as required.
#4. Global Partnerships Team Support (10% of Time)
- Contribute to strategic discussions within the team to support planning and priorities.
- Support the planning and implementation of internal meetings and/or conferences.
- Keep up to date with the major issues pertaining to children, child rights and development, as well as the donor environment and developments within RTP.
- Additional tasks as requested by the members of the Global Partnerships Team.
- Undertake general office administrative tasks as needed.

- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in international development, political science, international relations, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience
EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years’ practical experience in managing multiple and varied projects
- 2 years’ experience in supporting proposal development and donor reporting
- Fundraising experience for not-for-profits including developing applications, securing funding from a variety of sources, and a track record of identifying and researching donors

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. The Services Manager will be the key operational lead for the Alliance, and oversee successful delivery of housing casework services to young people fleeing violence and exploitation who are referred in. You should have experience of working in services that support young people fleeing violence or who are impacted by the criminal justice system, and have a solid understanding of housing options for young people under 25. You should be exceptionally well organised and have excellent partnership management skills.
