A prestigious London Local Authority with a large regional jurisdiction over both the City of London and the county of Greater London is looking for a number of 12-month front of house and administrative staff to join a busy and expanding team based in Stanford-Le-Hope/Tilbury/Corringham area.

Your new role

To provide clerical and administrative support to the staff in a busy and expanding office. To work as one of the team of Support Assistants within the Service, in the provision of an effective, efficient and responsive service.Hours: 37 hours per week within the hours of 6am - 10pm on a shift basis

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out reception duties and act as 'first point of contact' for visitors to the office.
• Sorting, date stamping, scanning all documents received and distributing post and documents received into the office and verifying delivery of documents, parcels and other goods in accordance with office procedures.
• Provide clerical and administrative support to the field staff, as required.
• Arrange the collection of all samples on a daily basis that need to go to the labs, preparing for collection and liaising with the couriers.
• Use office equipment, including the postage franking machine, facsimile machine, scanner, photocopier and computer system to carry out the duties of the post.
• Answer all incoming calls and respond to telephone queries from a wide range of sources regarding the current status of imported food cargo and charging procedures, including passing calls on to the relevant staff.
• Under the direction of the Officers, or Technical Officers, carry out documentary checking with regard to consignments of imported food (not of animal origin), and maintain all necessary electronic and paper-based records.
• Input data into internal and external database systems and carry out general internal database maintenance, e.g. modifying tables, queries and reports.
• Maintain and update electronic and paper-based filing and record systems, including the equipment inventory. Assist with the archiving of items, and deal with confidential documents appropriately.
• Under the direction of Official Veterinarians or Officers, record Products of Animal Origin and other imported food consignments on the computerised cargo handling system and port manifesting systems.
• Under the direction of Official Veterinarians or Officers, they undertake the initial documentary check for third country consignments of products of animal origin in accordance with ISO procedures and ensure that documents for charging purposes are sent to the Finance Section on a daily basis.

Our Young Person’s Crisis Service offers a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment outside of normal school hours for those aged 14 – 17 who feel in mental distress or crisis.

About the Role

The Youth Mental Health Worker will support young people aged 14-18 to deescalate crisis and improve their mental health and wellbeing, through focussed 1:1s and structured crisis interventions. The role will involve assessing needs and offering one-to-one support to service users to enable them to begin the process of improving their mental health and well-being and to provide clarity on services and pathways available in the area. The role will be part of a larger Young Person's Crisis team made up of Youth Mental Health Workers, Managers and volunteers.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people (under 18) with mental health issues, experience of assessing level of need and experience working in a team or small service.

Service Delivery

• Deliver crisis focussed 1:1s and ensure outcomes which supports young people experiencing a mental health crisis in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed crisis service and requirements as well as contract requirements.
• Assessing need and suitability for the service in line with the access to services process, and undertaking 1:1s.
• Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).
• Carry out health and safety and cash handling in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures and guidance.
• Carry out health and safety responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s H&S policies, procedures and guidance (risk assessments, reviews, reporting, safeguarding, incidents/accidents, premises).
• Carry out responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader for the collection, updating, monitoring and reporting of service data in line with Mind BLMK’s contract and systems requirements and procedures.

The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Purpose of the Visitor Experience Assistant role:

The Visitor Experience Assistant will deliver a range of visitor experiences, providing consistently high standards of customer care and actively support strategic priorities of the museum especially in relation to interpreting the story of the RAF and increasing commercial income.

The role is an essential element to maintain visitor and site safety and security, ensuring safety checks and monitoring are completed and reported to the Duty Manager.

This position is permanent, working 1000 hours annually. The working hours each week will be dependent on business requirements (maximum 35 hours per week during peak season and minimum 10 hours per week during off-peak season). You will work a flexible pattern which will include working some weekends, bank holidays and occasional evening/overnights.

Key responsibilities of our Visitor Experience Supervisor include:

• Providing high standards of pro-active and re-active customer care, providing a warm welcome to all our visitors
• Enriching the visitor experience by pro-actively sharing your knowledge of the Museum and its collection and stories, with our visitors
• Regularly monitoring the condition and cleanliness of front of house facilities, taking corrective action and/or reporting issues, as appropriate
• Supporting in the management of volunteers working on front of house activities. • Support commercial and fundraising activities, including undertaking collections
• Understanding the Museum’s commercial activities, products and offers, and promote these to our visitors
• Discretely and sensitively safeguarding the security of visitors, colleagues and Museum assets, responding to heightened incident measures as appropriate, in line with Museum policy and procedures
• Monitoring and reporting defects associated with the Museum’s facilities, exhibits and/or interpretation
• Monitoring the safety of the Museum and visitors and comply with the Museum’s incident and accident reporting procedures
• Assisting with the effective evacuation of the Museum in the event of an emergency, in accordance with procedures

Purpose of Post

To produce major outdoor events as part of an ambitious new Plan for the City of London, which is set to transform its attractiveness, and to build on its reputation as a destination that is fun, inclusive, sustainable, and welcoming. To deliver a high-quality and popular visitor experience that appeals to a diverse range of audiences within this context.
To support the Events Manager in planning, executing and establishing an annual programme of high impact 'must do' major events that are bold, popular, inclusive, sustainable and truly stand out in the national calendar.
To deliver value to defined audience groups, inviting people to share in the City's unique treasures and providing them with memorable opportunities to experience these through the events programme.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Undertake planning, coordination, production and stakeholder-relations duties for the major events programme.
• Manage internal approval processes, including required applications to Highways, Environmental Health, City Surveyor's and other internal teams.
• Coordinate production logistics, including infrastructure, power, cleansing and security.
• Support the Events Manager by ensuring compliance across licencing, health and safety and other areas; creating, collecting and processing relevant event documents supported by the role (e.g. risk assessment and method statements, public liability insurance certification etc).
• Support the Events Manager to programme and schedule major event content, contributing ideas, assessing timings in relation to the proposed calendar, and advising on logistics.
• Attend all events designated for the role and assume an event/stage manager function as appropriate, responding to any issues as they arise during the event (deferring to the Events Manager where necessary) and ensuring that the highest standards of production and visitor experience are maintained at all times.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure all relevant teams are aware of the events programme, there are no clashes with the wider organisation's events calendar and all relevant information is circulated internally and communicated effectively.
• Be the main point of contact for artists, event producers, production teams, agencies, suppliers and contractors regarding all event specifications and requirements.
• Support the Events Manager so that all events are delivered on time and to budget, updating budgets and records as required.

• Experience required

• Project management qualification or significant experience of managing event-based projects, ideally (but not essentially) within a cultural or tourism context.
• Training (or good level of experience) in compliance, to include licencing, health and safety, crowd management and/or traffic management.
• Experience of managing cultural events, ideally in an outdoor context. .

• The ability to multitask, prioritise and manage multiple events and projects against challenging deadlines.
• Proven event and stage management skills with demonstrable experience of planning and delivering events
• A well-organised and methodical approach to event planning and delivery.
• The ability to think on your feet; to crisis manage and take corrective action at events if required.
• Demonstrable ability to work closely / communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to discuss detailed arrangements for events and form successful working relationships with people at all levels.
• A demonstrable interest in the culture, the creative industries and/or public events.

Working hours: 35 hours p/w (Mon-Fri); occasional evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work at events will be required with TOIL offered in return.

In October 2022 Salford City Council commissioned Salford CVS to undertake research into the strengths of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector as part of their Joint Needs and Strengths Assessment.

Every three years since 2008, Salford CVS leads on State of the VCSE Sector research in Salford and also across Greater Manchester. Working with other local infrastructure organisations, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the VCSE sector. Our last research report was published in 2021 and we have started planning for the research to be conducted this year.

In August 2023 we further developed our VCSE sector research and insight work with the commencement of our Salford 99 longitudinal study. This research project is designed to understand the issues affecting the VCSE sector in Salford and aims to track 99 VCSE organisations every six months for a three-year period, so that we gain ‘live’ insight in between our three-yearly State of the VCSE sector large research project. Alongside this work we conduct a Pulse Check survey with a variety of VCSE organisations to get a snapshot of what is changing for them each quarter.

This exciting VCS Research and Insight role involves a combination of VCSE engagement and insight work across Salford.
