About IKWRO

IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.

IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.

As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.

We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.

Purpose of Job

The Fundraising Officer will work as part of the Fundraising and Marketing team and will be responsible for:

• Nurturing relationships with existing and prospective donors

• Sustaining and developing our group of individual and community-based supporters.

• Growing income, including regular giving, donations, appeals, legacy giving, community groups and other fundraising activities.

We are looking for a strong communicator with some experience of fundraising who is keen to develop their career in this area.

This post can be undertaken on a hybrid working basis with some days home-working and some days working in IKWRO’s offices.

We are seeking a skilled individual to join our dedicated team to develop and deliver existing campaigns and new products to help us maximise income.  You will be passionate about customer experience and understand the benefits of supporter journeys.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience of delivering marketing campaigns, and identifying and creating new fundraising products to generate and maximise income opportunities.

About the Role

We have a new and exciting opportunity for someone who is an ambitious and self-motivated individual, to join us in an exciting phase for the Community Fundraising Team, so we can continue to support everyone in the Armed Forces Community enabling them to live well after service.

• You will be responsible for creating and developing engaging and inspiring marketing campaigns for our Do Your Own Thing audience, and helping us to maximise opportunities to raise income with new and existing supporters.

• You will develop and deliver our National Collection campaign, working with key stakeholders across the charity to engage our loyal fundraising volunteers.
• We need you to develop excellent supporter journeys that maximise opportunities and builds long term relationships.
• You will need to be a skilled communicator both written and verbally to ensure all stakeholders are engaged and inspired.
• You will be personable team player, a strategic thinker and have a track record of developing and delivering marketing campaigns to a variety of audiences.
• You will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to effectively manage and prioritise your time.

About the Team

You will be part of the Help for Heroes Community Fundraising Team, who work together to build support in the community to secure donations and build long time partnerships with community organisations / supporters and volunteers to deliver the annual community fundraising budget year on year. You will report to the National Senior Fundraising Manager and work collaboratively across the charity to drive income to support our veterans and their families.

As Supporter Engagement Officer you’ll play a key role in helping us to engage new and existing supporters as well as helping to deliver first-class stewardship to retain support and build trust. In addition you will develop appeals and communications that engage and inform supporters which help to raise more voluntary income.

Directly supporting the Direct Marketing and Legacy Manager and working closely with all of the Supporter Engagement team it would be beneficial if you have previous experience or an interest in Fundraising. Being a confident communicator with a “can-do” approach is essential as well as being able to demonstrate proven administrative skills, the ability to manage a varied workload and be highly organised.

We offer flexible working patterns, both in terms of hours and remote working. Please note that all employees are contractually required to work from the office a minimum of 4 days a month.

2. Researching, identifying, and prioritising appropriate trusts and foundations to maintain and convert a pipeline of new, prospective trusts and foundations.
3. Working with colleagues across the organisation to help shape projects for funding and creating strong Cases for Support to ensure effective applications.
4. Writing and submitting high quality targeted funding applications.
5. Maintaining an effective stewardship programme for trusts and foundations including appropriate accurate records, ensuring the fundraising e-Tapestry database is kept up-todate and that fundraising income is processed efficiently with timely thank you letters and acknowledgements.
6. Managing relationships with existing and new funders to encourage maximum funding, multi-year funding awards and repeat funding.
7. Monitoring outcomes, updating the Funding Matrix and producing timely reports and information as required externally by funders and internally for Management reporting.
8. Promoting the support of funders through press releases and social media posts.
9. Adhering to standards of fundraising best practise as set out in the Institute of Fundraising’s Code of Practise and ensuring all activities comply with relevant Data Protection obligations and any other legislation

The parental engagement model used will be based on the successful Parent Power South London and Oldham Parent Power projects.

They are now wanting a brilliant fundraiser to join them as their new Major Gifts Officer (Trusts).

You will be joining Barts Charity at an exciting time, during their most ambitious fundraising period to date which is raising funds for two important health projects - a Clinical Research Facility in Whitechapel and a Breast Cancer Centre in the City of London at St Bartholomew's Hospital.

What the Major Gifts Officer will do:

• This role will be mostly focused on growing and maintaining a portfolio of low-level prospects and donors (c. 4- and 5-figure gifts) though targeted approaches and high-quality written applications.
• In addition to soliciting gifts for two capital projects, the role will also identify funding opportunities for other projects.
• Provide support to the Senior Stewardship Manager with stewardship activity, as well as Senior Major Gifts Fundraisers with major funding proposals where required.

Ideally the Major Gifts Officer will have experience of:

• Experience of working in fundraising for a charitable organisation with a proven ability of securing 4- or 5- figure+ gifts
• Excellent writing skills to produce high-quality applications and proposals and other fundraising communications
• The ability to identify new funding streams and generate and convert leads into gifts
• The ability to manage a high-volume pipeline of donors/prospects, while ensuring the CRM data on the pipeline is accurate and up-to-date
