About the role:

This hybrid role is based in Brighton & Hove with home-working and at least 1 day in the office, you will also need to travel within the local area to meet clients and attend meetings. As an IDVA you will:

• Support the empowerment of survivors by assisting them to recognising the features & dynamics of domestic abuse
• Hold a caseload, prioritising high risk cases & providing a pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service
• Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments to provide individualized support plans, advocacy, practical support & information
• Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)
• Use a person-centred, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma & additional barriers to access that individuals may experience
• Work in partnership with both internal & external stakeholders to ensure that victims' & survivors' needs are met
• Assist in delivering training, and provide consultancy and advice to other agencies as required

You will need:

• An understanding of domestic abuse & its impact
• Kowledge of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management
• An understanding of safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
• Experience of delivering services to vulnerable people

The MYcommunity Gateway Team provides support across Age UK Lambeth’s three Neighbourhoods: North, South and Central. 

Age UK Lambeth and the MYcommunity Gateway team have partnered with Lambeth Adult Social Care in response to the redesign of their Initial Contact Service. Age UK Lambeth provides a busy, in-demand helpline to all new callers to Lambeth Adult Social Care. The helpline provides a triage service, dealing with enquiries, providing individuals the opportunity to discuss their issues and be provided with advice, information and guidance and potentially signposted to a range of services to provide them with support. Where appropriate, referrals are made to ASC for an assessment. 

Call operation times will be Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm, excluding bank holidays.

The service works closely with Lambeth Adult Social Care and we have a base working alongside them at the Civic Centre in Brixton. Staff work hybridly, with the opportunity to work from home at least two days per week.

What you’ll be doing?

1. The Helpline Worker will answer Lambeth Adult Social Care’s telephone line where the caller has selected a new caller to the service. 

2. Answer a range of queries and offer reassurance to all callers.

3. Refer clients to Adult Social Care for an assessment where appropriate.

4. Refer clients into external and partner services to provide support and refer clients to other Age UK Lambeth services.

Purpose of the job

The main purpose of the job is to support with the delivery and development of the Challenge: ELBA programme which provides one-off, team based practical and social volunteering opportunities for member and non-member companies.

The programme is well established and the Challenge: ELBA team delivers circa 8,000 volunteers each year.  The focus now is to reengage with companies that paused in-person volunteering due to COVID and to continue to develop virtual team opportunities. The project manager will be working with the team to take the programme to the next level by proactive marketing of team challenges, developing new materials, including social media presence; working with companies to “adopt” community organisations, and ensure as many challenge volunteers as possible convert to longer term business volunteers. There is also great potential to engage non-member companies and develop an income generation stream through providing team challenge opportunities.

Main duties

• Identify and build relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including charities, community groups, social enterprises, education institutions, faith groups etc

The internship would be an opportunity for an individual to gain experience of working on projects to tackle illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade, with a focus on our Combating Wildlife Trafficking Activity project in the Caribbean.

This role provides an opportunity to enhance your quantitative and qualitative research skills by investigating online wildlife trade to support projects. You will be trained to conduct online market surveys and report findings for key reptile species in the Caribbean. You may also have the opportunity to learn about other wildlife trade data sources such as physical market surveys, literature reviews, interview data or CITES analysis to help research new and emerging issues.

There will be opportunities to learn from and network with Fauna & Flora’s wildlife trade project teams globally, to collate findings from market surveys across our projects. There will be a chance to engage with other NGOs working on the topic to understand best practice approaches to investigating online wildlife trade.

You will also have the opportunity to present back your findings and create communications outputs to promote our work through our internal platforms.

Skills gained would include quantitative and qualitative data analysis, reporting, presentation experience, communication skills and you would gain learning and exposure to many of our wildlife trade projects.

Note that this internship has been designed to create a professional development opportunity for people who are new to the conservation sector. Therefore, applicants should have less than two years’ paid or unpaid experience in the conservation sector (not including academic work).

Our partner is a nonprofit organization providing accessible & effective mental health interventions for youths. They are seeking a part-time CFO to add expertise and oversight of their finance function to ensure financial sustainability. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies, and lead the development of financial projections and scenario planning to inform decision making.
• Lead the finance function, overseeing the day-to-day operations (cash, accounts payable, accounts receivables and payroll) and ensure compliance with accounting and financial reporting standards, as well as legal and regulatory requirements for Kenya and the USA

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with at least 5 years of relevant experience, and willing to be hands on.

• Experience of working in a start-up or of establishing a finance function is strongly desirable.

Our partner is a leading environmental organisation with impactful programmes in PNG. They are seeking a Finance Director to oversee the finance function; provide strategic analysis and advisory support; and to lead through succession planning and capacity strengthening within the country office. 

Responsibilities

• Financial oversight of the programme – this includes ensuring that there is a strong control environment across the HQ and regional offices, that policies and guidelines are properly understood and implemented, properly manage and account for income, and monitor banking, cash and cash advances and expenditure.
• Prepare and submit the annual accounts & statutory returns, ensuring that these are compliant with local laws and requirements.
• Financial management – creation and review of the organisational budget, oversee the monthly close and reconciliations, and prepare financial & KPI reports, and cashflow management.
• Grants compliance, management and reporting – supporting in budget creation for new grants proposals, monitoring expenditure versus grants income, ensuring that all project finance activities are compliant with grants requirements, providing financial oversight to sub-grantees, and preparing donor/grants reports.
• Undertaking due diligence on, and overseeing compliance and reporting from sub-grantees, supporting them with capacity building as required..
• Lead in the preparation of donor and other local audits, ensuring that the organisation is tax & legally compliant to the regulations in PNG.

Requirements

• A bachelors degree in accounting or finance; additionally an MBA or an accounting qualification is strongly preferred.
• Senior finance professional with at least five years of experience of leading the country finance function of a charity that is complex, both in terms of projects, but also portfolio of funding. Previous experience of working in a complex environment such as PNG is desirable.
• Willing to be hands on, alongside offering strategic advisory support.
• Strong technical accounting, financial management, reporting and grants compliance, management and reporting experience.

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Developer to design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases that support our business applications and operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL programming, and database performance optimisation.

Working alongside our solutions architect, you’ll be responsible for the development and management of our data import processes by managing and onboarding new data feeds through our bespoke ETL tool, the Message Broker. You’ll be focused on developing and translating business reasoning into data transformation. You’ll act as a key conduit between teams – ensuring new functionality is rolled out effectively to become business as usual. Find the best ways of importing and validating customer data, so we can build long term relationships with our customers and keep them coming back for more. You’ll get involved at the briefing stage and see it through to delivery of data, championing security, governance, quality and accuracy at every step along the way. 

This is role is currently seconded to the Technology Directorate, working on the delivery of the charity’s key IT systems such as the current migration from Raisers Edge 7 to Raisers Edge NXT CRM.

Night Reconnection Assistant - Rough Sleeping Services

Are you looking to start your career supporting vulnerable adults; working for a charity who makes a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless every day?

Our client's Pan London Rough Sleeping Teams (No Second Night Out and Somewhere Safe to Stay) provide a rapid response service, intervening to ensure no one needs to sleep rough. They are currently looking for people to join their teams as Night Reconnection and Night Assessment Workers in their services. In these roles you will: 

• Work as part of a busy team environment working closely with those affected by rough sleeping. 

• Provide a safe and supportive environment at night to clients; and support a team of Assessment and Reconnection Workers, with key tasks; such as implementing reconnection or assessment plans and supporting clients into appropriate accommodation.  

• Work on a 7 day weekly night rota pattern with an average of 3 waking night shifts in a row (for example 8pm–8.30am or 9pm–8am) 

About you 

These crucial roles will suit people with an interest in in developing key skills to build a career working in a support role, as well as:

• Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or customers in a busy service environment. 

• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others effectively to get things done.

Reporting to the Head of Programmes, Gender and Humanitarian the post holder will identify, prospect and approach new institutional donors, converting them form prospects to secured funds. Ensure the effective delivery of a portfolio of institutional and corporate grants, making sure projects are achieving key milestones and that day-to-day activities are on track. The Programme Development Manager will provide high quality project information to both internal and external stakeholders, extracting and quality assuring project data relevant for reporting, and making sure all projects are compliant with donor requirements. You will proactively manage relationships with existing donors, developing engagement strategies, sharing key information, and laying groundwork for follow-on funding. Finally, you will lead proposals for new and existing donors, coordinating inputs from Hand in Hand International and network colleagues, drafting technical inputs, and engaging with funders where required.

We are looking for an innovative thinker and self-starter with a clear track record of raising funds from and engaging directly with large institutional donors (governments, corporate foundations, etc). Strong experience working directly with FCDO and/or USAID is desirable.You will have exceptional experience managing complex international development projects within an NGO, government, or the private sector. You will be confident working with project management tools such as logframes, workplans, and risk matrices and will have excellent relationship management skills, strong attention to details and an ability to effectively prioritise between competing deadlines and objectives. A working knowledge of Afghanistan, or a background in Humanitarian contexts would be desirable.

The are now currently seeking a temporary Grant Support Officer, to join their team on a temporary basis, initially for 3 months, with the potential of extension. 

In this role you will support the delivery of the service by providing independent person-centred expert advice, guidance and case management support. You will be responsible for carrying out comprehensive reviews of applications for financial assistance, on behalf of service users. You will write accurate and objective ‘reports’, prepare financial statements, make recommendations for donations and present to their Support Fund members panel for approval of financial assistance/donations/grants.  You will assess and manage service users requests in terms of declines and grant approvals up to the support officer limit and attend support fund meetings and contribute accordingly as decision-making members thereof. 

To be considered for this role, you will have knowledge and understanding of case management, person centred working, case work processes and compliance, as well as strong service user service experience, supporting individuals with multiple and complex support needs. You will also have experience using databases and case management systems including input and retrieval of data. They currently use 365 Dynamics system, so candidates with experience using this/and or similar are encouraged to apply. 

Please note, this is a full-time role, 35 hours p/w, Monday – Friday. The role is based in Rugby, offering hybrid working (2 days a week in the office and 3 days WFH).
