OVERVIEW

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (the Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

We are looking for a creative and proactive individual who has experience of supporting survivors of domestic abuse. Working with survivors of domestic abuse as an outreach worker, you will play a crucial role in advocacy, risk assessment, safety planning and empowerment.

As part of our passionate and committed team of approximately 45 staff, our aspiration is that you will thrive and develop in this varied role. You will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who are impacted by domestic abuse.

JOB PURPOSE

• To provide practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse, including crisis intervention, risk assessment and safety planning.
• To develop individual support plans, which address the risk of harm and offer information, advocacy, advice and signposting to survivors, underpinned by individual risk and need.
• To empower survivors, thereby increasing self- esteem, reducing isolation and helping survivors to keep safe.
• To provide survivors with information relating to their rights and ensuring survivors are empowered to make decisions based on their options.
• To work in collaboration with the adult team and wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery

• Work as part of a team providing high quality support, advice, advocacy and information to survivors of domestic abuse.
• Manage a caseload in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and adhere to confidentiality.
• Work in a needs led way with a specific focus on a trauma informed approach, which recognises domestic abuse and its impact.
• Work holistically with survivors, recognising individual needs, and help survivors to recognise and build on their strengths and abilities to build self-esteem and resilience.
• Offer support face to face or remotely, via phone or video call, depending on the needs of the survivor and current guidance around social distancing.
• Attend regular supervision and appraisals with line-manager.
• Work effectively in partnership with other agencies and refer on appropriately, dependant on need and risk. This may include referral to specialist agencies, to other specialist DVA services or other external processes (for example MARAC).
• Assess risk to individuals on a regular basis using the DASH risk indicator checklist.
• Work with survivors to develop tailored support plans with a focus on reducing the risk of harm, increasing their personal safety (and that of any children) and responding to their individual needs.
• Support survivors to be able to identify and manage the risks to themselves and their children
• Provide information to survivors in relation to their options, including guidance in relation to their housing, legal and welfare rights and advocate on their behalf as required.
• Encourage service users’ participation in service development, continuous improvement and feedback exercised.
• Represent the Rising Sun at relevant community meetings and forums.
• Support Rising Sun’s community services including our One Stop Shop drop in service and group programmes.
• Maintain up to date and accurate records and ensure, reports and evaluations are completed as required.
• Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and building positive working-relationships with team members.
• Contribute to wider team meetings and discussions to share learning and feed into organisational developments.
• Be willing and available to work some evenings and weekends as required to support wider team activities such as representing Rising Sun at events (time off in lieu can be taken by arrangement with your line manager).

• Uphold the rights of women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, and proactively assess the gender specific, trauma informed needs and the safety of children and women to ensure that any risks/needs identified are addressed, having full regard to Rising Sun Safeguarding Children policy and Safeguarding Adults policy.

• Participate in supervision, training and meetings as required.
• Ensure the effective implementation of Rising Sun’s policies and procedures and uphold the core values of the Rising Sun.

• An accredited VAWG/domestic abuse qualification, e.g. IDVA / DAPA (Desirable).
• Good understanding of the impact of domestic violence and trauma on survivors, children and young people, families and communities. 
• Knowledge of issues affecting survivors, and an understanding of the barriers they may face in accessing support.
• Thorough knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures and legislation.
• Good understanding of the operation of the agencies working together to support survivors such as social services, police etc.

Experience

• Experience of working with survivors affected by domestic and sexual abuse.
• Experience of managing own case load, working under pressure and prioritising workload.
• Experience of risk assessment and management, and safety planning.

Overview

Healthwatch Newham wishes to employ a Deaf Outreach Worker.  The role will work with the Deaf community on an action plan of delivery to make improvements across Newham. This is a fixed term contract of 12 months and you will work in partnership with the Newham health and social care system.

You will be a Deaf person with life experience of being Deaf and Deaf culture. You will be fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) and used to working in a bilingual environment with Deaf and hearing colleagues.

Location: Avonmore Library and Askew Library

Citizens Advice Hammersmith and Fulham (CAHF) is a busy, dynamic award-winning service.  We deliver a variety of projects via face to face and digital media.  Since 2012 we have delivered a volunteer led community library service at Avonmore library. 

In April 2024 we embarked on running a second community focused library at Askew Road.  To support CAHF community library delivery at both libraries, we introduced the role of Community Library Coordinator.

Purpose of the role: 

Whilst the role encompasses traditional library duties, our community library service is a hub of the local community, which provides a wide range of activities to library users of all ages across the week.

The Community Library Coordinator role oversees and develops library events with a wide range of community partners. They will promote and support library volunteer delivery.

Reporting to National Veteran Support Programme Manager. the successful applicant will have a track record of providing employment and job finding support. A strong customer focus and an ability to work independently to achieve targets and deadlines is an essential requirement along with strong communication and organising skills, knowledge of the local employment market, training, and adult education opportunities.

This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week with a salary of £28,325 depending on experience. The role is Home based with local and regional travel.Veteran Support Consultants will spend an average of 30% of their time networking within their region.

Job Role: To promote the Forces Employment Charity and Veteran Support Programme across the UK and provide employability and employment support for veterans in order that they find appropriate sustainable employment, or other Preferred Vocational Outcome.

Principal Responsibilities:
​

• Provide advice and guidance to support veterans into employment.
• Develop links with local and regional businesses and business forums to develop relationships with Corporate Mentors and to provide enhanced local level employment opportunities, working collaboratively with Employer Relationship Managers (ERMs).
• Facilitate veterans to access suitable training courses.
• Post and maintain an exemplar professional LinkedIn profile and engage with appropriate content from FEC and partner organisations.
• Link with local and regional Ex-Armed Forces support agencies initiatives to create a flow of veterans requiring employment support. This will include as a minimum creating working relationships with Armed Forces Charities and DWP and regional Armed Forces Champions (including Armed Forces Covenant groups).
• Contribute to FEC’s online community engaging veterans with the self-help tools and Corporate Mentors.
• Attend all CTP Employment Fairs in your region as an exhibitor. Publicise the role of FEC in supporting veteran employment.
• Co-ordinate with partner charities and refer clients to that support as identified by their needs assessment.
• Manage client caseload on Salesforce in accordance with work instructions.
• Represent the values and professional expertise of FEC to all external audiences.
• The 30% networking time will involve attending partner meetings, employment events and collaboration with other charities/agencies that specialise in support to veterans. The time spent doing this will be captured on our CRM and will be measurable.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Westway Trust as a Property Assistant, providing efficient and responsive administrative support across the full property team. You will be a friendly, motivated, and active administrator who will play a key role in the smooth running of the property department.

You will be pro-active, organised, with good initiative being the main point of contact responding to estate and property related enquiries and reports of issues, from tenants, customers, contractors and the community.  You will therefore need to possess or demonstrate a willingness to provide a good level of customer service with property knowledge.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Provide efficient and effective administrative support across the Property team, including daily active filing, archiving, photocopying, scanning and record keeping.
• Initial point of contact for enquiries to the Property team.
• Provide a responsive customer service handling system to record such enquiries.
• Coordinating the general day-to-day activities of the Head of Property & Estates in relation to emails, posts, and voicemails.
• Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of property particulars, void reports, and reviewing property marketing websites for current information.
• Cross-referencing and managing the prospective tenant’s selection list with the historical enquiry list and alerting the team of any repeat/active enquiries.
• Regular visits to Trust premises to record any Health and Safety/Fire Risk Assessment breaches and reporting these to the appropriate Facilities Management team member. 
• Assist with attending Unit Base Parking/Filming/Events on the estate, recording any infringements of agreements on site, and notifying the appropriate team member for further follow-on action.
• Preparing notification details for relevant authorities for entry and exit of tenants – rates, utilities, etc.
• Assisting with servicing property meetings (i.e., circulating papers, coordinating actions where required).
• Responsible for the recording of void premises and issuing of building keys.
• Occasionally provide assistance to the Trust’s reception/office manager for general office duties and reception cover if required.

Knowledge and Experience:

• A minimum of one year’s experience in a busy property department.
• A broad understanding of commercial property or demonstrable experience of transferable skills if you are from a different sector.
• Customer focused, with the ability to provide a friendly and efficient service to customers, staff and tenants.
• Good time management, attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure with changing priorities.
• Excellent administrative skills.
• High level IT skills and experience of using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Personal skills:

• A personable and collaborative approach, with experience of developing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Good communication skills, orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multi-cultural and diverse environment.
• Connections to/understanding of the local area would be highly desirable.

Senior Development Officer (Fundraising)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Role:The Senior Development Officer ​plays an integral role within the Development Team at Forces Employment Charity (FEC). You will work with the Head of Development to produce high quality, bespoke proposals, and reports to demonstrate impact and outcomes to help drive the delivery of FEC across the UK. You will also work within the team to research and identify new fundraising opportunities from trusts, foundations and companies and convert these into long term business relationships.

This position provides a full-time, permanent contract with hybrid working hours, consisting of a 35-hour week. The role allows for hybrid work, including remote work from home, with one day per month at our head office in London.
​

Principle Responsibilities:
​

• To work closely with the Head of Development to research and identify new opportunities.
• Develop, prepare, and submit high quality funding applications, acting as bid writing SME.
• Peer Review support to mentor other team members.
• Work with Head of Development to increase the accuracy of our Salesforce data, resulting in data dashboards suitable to the reporting needs of our funders.
• Collaborate with Development and Senior F&R Officer to implement a team strategy and support a lean process of reporting.
• Work with Senior Finance & Reporting Officer to report impact to our funders in line in the funding requirements.
• To work closely with Head of Development to develop and implement our fundraising strategy.
• Represent the organisation at research based events, developing our understanding and enhancing our delivery.
• Identify new opportunities and working with the team to covert these to applications and funding.
• Lead on individual Giving Strategy, working with Head of Development and Development Officer to expand opportunities.
• Any other relevant duties at the discretion of management.

About the role:

We are delighted to have been awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver an exciting four year initiative to further support and develop communities in our local area.  Street Action will co-develop a programme of work with communities in the Scarborough area which helps individuals and groups to celebrate the good things about where they live whilst also providing the support needed to enable them to work better together to tackle the common challenges.  This is a grassroots up approach, driven by communities themselves and the Project Officer will be key to its success.

The post holder will be expected to be out and about in communities, making themselves known, developing new contats and learning about what makes the area tick.  They will utilise a variety of community locations to learn about and work with local people.  They will identify individuals with vision and passion and help them with the practical steps needed to gather others around them to create community solutions.
