Job description

Regional Finance Officer (12 month fixed term contract)

Manchester Based (hybrid role with 2 days per week in the Manchester office)

Starting salary for this position is £27,360 per annum (plus contributory pension)

About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

We are seeking a Regional Finance Officer to join our Finance team which provides day-to-day financial support and advice to MAG’s programmes in countries across the globe. Ideally the candidate will be part qualified.  This is an exciting and dynamic role, where your finance skills and experience will help us make a real difference, supporting our lifesaving work across the globe.

Based in our Manchester Office, you will provide an important bridge between the Finance Managers based overseas and in the UK producing central management accounts. You will have the ability to provide specialised diagnosis, support and advice on the majority of programme finance issues related to the role. You will also review variances on contracts and create financial reports for our donors and budget proposals as well as support country programmes to spend in line with contracts.  You’ll therefore need self-motivation and excellent communications skills, as well as a background in reporting financial information, including data analysis, variance investigation and general bookkeeping.

About you:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in reporting of financial information, including data analysis and variance investigation. This is a fast-paced role, which will require high levels of initiative, pro-activeness and strong multi-tasking skills. It will give you the opportunity to use your finance experience for an international charity. Above all, you will need to be approachable, flexible, have a good eye for detail and be ready to work in a busy and varied role. You will also recognise that good financial support can make a real difference to MAG’s success in saving lives and building futures.

Ideally you will be part-qualified in ACA. CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.

Further information and how to apply:

For the further information on the role, the application pack and details of how to apply, please visit the MAG website by the closing date of 27th May 2024.

Please note that as part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed. MAG is committed to the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion. If you think you would be suited to one of our roles we would welcome your application regardless of your background. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment where all employees feel respected and supported in fulfilling their potential.
