Community Fundraiser Jobs in Flexible Location
The Community Fundraising team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for securing income from individuals, regional businesses and groups fundraising in the community, effectively managing relationships to maximise income.
The Regional Fundraising Officer role will play a significant part in contributing to a high-performing fundraising team. The role will cover the Kent and Sussex region.
You will report to the Community Fundraising Manager and support the Head of Regional Fundraising to drive the continued growth of the charity’s community fundraising income in your area. You will also be required to show excellent relationship-building skills to support community partnerships and volunteer groups, driving towards agreed targets.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract, or on return of the substantive post holder, to cover a period of maternity leave.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Strategy, finance, and reporting
· Responsibility for 3 income streams within the Kent and Sussex region including corporate, community groups and Do It Yourself (DIY) fundraising.
· Identify and apply for ‘Charity of the Year’ partnerships with corporates in the region, account manage these relationships up to a value of £50,000 per annum and support the Partnership Development Team with partnerships in your region with a value of up to £100,000.
· Support existing volunteer fundraisers to encourage continued loyalty to the charity and to maximise funds raised, following fundraising legislation and good practice.
· Recruit new fundraising supporters in line with strategy.
· Support the Community Fundraising Manager (CFM) and Head of Regional Fundraising (HORF) in developing the Community Fundraising strategy for ARUK to increase income within this stream.
· Support and extend volunteer networks within the geographical area in line with strategy.
· To ensure that fundraising activity is implemented and managed locally to deliver budgets, targets and income in line with strategy. To achieve this by supporting and facilitating the development of groups and volunteers across the geographical area.
· Work across a diverse geographical area and within a geographically dispersed team, whilst managing own workload cost-effectively and proactively.
Supporter Management
· Provide excellent customer service to community fundraising supporters (including maintaining a polite, enthusiastic manner with prompt responses to enquiries), to acknowledge support and increase long-term loyalty.
· Provide high-quality account management to volunteer groups in geographical area.
· Effective management of volunteer relationships within geographical area.
· Support, motivate and develop local fundraising volunteers, ensuring they have a clear understanding of ARUK to enable them to represent the charity’s work effectively.
· In liaison with the Partnership Development Managers and Partnership Development Officers, provide high-quality account management to corporate supporters within the specified geographical area and/or of relevant value.
· Keep up to date with fundraising legislation and codes of practice to be able to provide relevant advice to fundraisers.
· Ensure volunteers and fundraisers have all necessary materials for fundraising initiatives.
Increasing Community Support within geographical area
· Use own initiative to extend volunteer networks, develop new groups and supporters, and respond to fundraising opportunities within the geographical area, in line with strategy.
· Run volunteer events with both a recruitment and cultivation function, liaising closely with the Stewardship and Events team to ensure a seamless supporter journey, and with the Press team to include media volunteers.
· Manage the recruitment process of new ARUK volunteers in the geographical area, providing relevant support and training.
· Liaise with local community organisations (e.g., golf clubs, educational institutions etc.) – both previous and new potential supporters – to extend income and activity in line with the strategy.
· Initiate and roll out community fundraising events in the geographical area with evidence of effective ROI and achievement of strategic goals.
· Provide face-to-face talks and presentations to community organisations for recruitment/ cultivation purposes.
· Arrange appropriate volunteer representation at events in the community (for example, for cheque collections and talks), spreading the charity’s reach cost-effectively.
· Identify, research and target prospective community organisations, in liaison with CFM.
· Identify, research and target prospective local corporates in liaison with CFM / HORF and ARUK’s Partnership Development Managers and Partnership Development Officers, in line with both community and corporate strategies.
· Accurately track and record contact with both community and corporate prospects for planning and reporting purposes.
Monitoring and Reporting
· Ensure that your activity is monitored and evaluated, clearly communicating progress to your Community Fundraising Manager.
· Manage relevant information on the charity’s database, keeping detailed, up-to-date records of activity and income.
What we are looking for:
· Experience in partnership fundraising and/or relationship-building.
· Experience in public speaking, such as giving presentations and talking at events.
· Knowledge of recruiting key volunteers and fundraising supporters.
· Experience and a keen interest in building long-term relationships with supporters.
· Proven ability to provide excellent stewardship.
· An ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Excellent organisational skills.
· Full driver’s license with access to own vehicle.
· Flexibility to work some unsocial hours and willingness to travel independently.
· Live within Kent and Sussex region.

Ways of working: As part of our Remote ways of working you will be home based. You will only need to attend the office for specific requirements of the role and the business needs.
Roles that are classed as part of the Remote ways of working are able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals. This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

• We are looking for someone who has experience in lottery management and administration in a charity environment. It is essential to have a working knowledge of the Gambling Commission, LCCP and it would be advantageous if you had experience of working with external lottery providers.

The Role
The Liturgy and Music Co-ordinator role has a variety of responsibilities including, amongst other things:

“Bogs and Bitterns": Somerset Wetland Restoration is one of twenty schemes being funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund.
As Project Ecologist you will be at the forefront of delivering, working with landowners and communities to undertake the survey and monitoring work across Local Wildlife Sites (LWS) in Somerset.
This project is funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency. “Bogs and Bitterns: Somerset Wetland restoration is one of twenty schemes being funded across the country. Within our project area we aim to deliver 50 hectares of wetland habitat, restoring and expanding to improve and create quality ‘stepping stone’ sites of high quality biodiversity and to enable species abundance across the wider county.
As Project Ecologist you will be at the forefront of delivering, working with landowners and communities to undertake the survey and monitoring work across these sites. The outcome of the project is to better understand the condition of our Local Wildlife sites and to have delivered targeted individual small-scale actions.
Responsibility 1: Develop and Oversee Relationships
Share knowledge and expertise by:
- Taking responsibility for a range of ecological and habitat consultancy and advisory projects.
- Being responsible for corresponding with landowners and communities to access survey sites.
- Carrying out preliminary appraisals.
- Undertaking LWS habitat survey work and producing high quality technical reports within the project area whilst liaising with the SERC LWS Ecologist on this delivery.
- Undertaking and coordinating with volunteers and the wilder project team including Reserves and Nature Recovery Team species survey monitoring and evaluating work across the project area.
- Undertaking a wide range of complex, technical and professional tasks in differing situations, with a degree of personal responsibility and autonomy. It is important to be able to work both alone and as a member of the team.

- Capturing and recording LWS habitat/species and condition data and aid in the inputting of this data, supporting updating of LWS records and feeding into the SERC database.
Responsibility 3: Project Fund Management
Support and be accountable by:
- Identifying, coordinating and delivering small scale capital funding and actions across LWS and PCNR network, whilst managing project budgets.
- Working with the communications team where applicable to promote and highlight the project achievements.

Part 1: Role Purpose:
This role aims to offer financial and operations management support to Great Lakes and Central Africa Region programs, focusing majorly on Street Child Programmes in DRC. The role reports to both Great Lakes and Central Africa Regional Representative and Head of Finance in Africa.
The role holds a senior position within the Street Central Africa Region team and will oversee Street Child – financial and operational setup to support operationalizing all program/project implementation in full compliance with donors’ and SC operational standards. The role will also provide financial support to programs across Great Lakes and Central Africa and partner organizations to support the development and implementation of robust financial management and reporting systems and assess and strengthen the control environment, financial management, grant management, and reporting. It will be building the finance and grants management capacity of Street Child staff and partners. A vital part of this is facilitating communication between Programmes and Finance staff.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
Finance Management:
- Supervise the country's standard financial systems establishment and maintenance in line with STREET-CHILD Financial Policy and Procedures, donor and local legislation requirements to provide appropriate levels of security and controls over the organization's resources and operations across the country to ensure success, consistency, and compliance.
- Develop and update quarterly the country's Master Budget to ensure that all funding gaps are covered.
- Provide strong leadership to the Finance and Admin team in all offices, whether with direct line management or technical, ensuring competent and motivated staff are hired and retained.
- Provide financial advice to the budget holders and local partners, ensure adequate support is provided to the program, and ensure the alignment of resource allocations with organizational priorities at the budgeting and implementation stages.
- Ensure that monthly accounting closure is timely, accurate, and compliant with STREET-CHILD financial policies and procedures for all Street-Child field offices and perform the bank reconciliation as appropriate.
- Using the Street-Child accounting system, produce the Budget Vs.—actuals for internal use by the country team and budget holders on a monthly basis.
- Oversee all financial and logistical requests made by the technical team and ensure they are in line with the Street-Child guidelines (Advance request, travel request, leave request, Toil request).
- Lead on applying Street-Child anti-fraud and anti-corruption policy and ensure all DRC staff understand and adhere to it, including Zero tolerance.

- Elaborate, review, and update Finance Standard Operating Procedures for STREET-CHILD DRC and across the Central and Great Lakes region as required and relevant.

Grant Management and Budget proposal:
- Collaborating with other managers during proposal development, lead on the costing in proposal writing.
- Produce grant financial reports for donors in their formats.
- With the Senior Programme Manager, co-lead monthly grants review meetings involving all active partners.
- Manage the budget review, cost extension, realignment, and alert on any potential risk.
- Ensure appropriate measures are taken to address audit findings and recommendations associated with all grants.
- Conduct grant management training for local partners and provide orientation on finance matters and tools to non-finance staff.
Operations Oversight:
- Lead all aspects of HR, administration, procurement and logistics in the region
- Adequately manage internal and external HR and admin risks, highlight & resolve relevant issues with national institutions with support from the country leadership team (Taxes, labour inspection).
- Maintain daily responsibility for local staff issues, i.e., contracts, payroll, job descriptions, salary scales, leave, and benefit in support of the HR and Admin Assistant.
- Facilitate frequent staff meetings, and update the staff on the new Street-Child guidelines, regulations, etc.
- Lead the outsourcing of some services such as staff medical insurance, legal issues and the adherence to national labour laws, taxation systems and rules, social security, and insurance rules, etc.

About the role
Aspire is a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking organisation, at the forefront of tackling some of the most complex social issues that our community is facing, including the cost-of-living crisis.
We are seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to take over from Paul Roberts, who, after for seven years leading Aspire Oxfordshire is moving to a national role in another organisation.
To achieve our social mission in these challenging times, we are looking for a leader who will work closely and collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Board of Trustees (Board). An excellent communicator and relationship builder, your leadership will shape our strategic direction, ensuring our services remain person-centred and responsive to the evolving needs of our community. You will also be a strong people leader who can navigate organisational change, nurture and develop relationships with our many stakeholders and partners, and inspire and empower our team to deliver excellence, every day.
To thrive in this role, you'll need a demonstrable track record of senior leadership in an employment development, supported housing & homelessness or directly comparable field.
Main Purpose of the Job
The CEO is responsible for providing leadership for Aspire’s continuing success and to improve its organisational resilience, working closely and collaboratively with the Board and the SLT. You will lead the strategic planning and delivery, general management and performance of Aspire, with a team of c. 60 employees and an estimated annual turnover of £2.8m, ensuring the organisation can provide effective, holistic person-centred support to people facing significant barriers or disadvantage to securing employment and independent living, including through strong partnerships with like-minded organisations.
Key tasks
Key tasks are intended to be a guide to the range and level of work expected of the job holder. This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks and the post holder will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
Strategic leadership & development

Work with the Board and Senior Leadership Team to develop then lead on the delivery of the Aspire multi-year strategy, including the ongoing co-production during 2024 of a new multi-year strategy to 2027. Horizon scan for external environmental challenges and forward plan for responsive delivery scenarios.

Deliver the Aspire strategy effectively with a two-fold approach: empower a capable, resilient senior leadership team (C-suite) and further develop and empower senior and middle managers at Aspire; and oversee investment to enhance systems so that the team is better able to support clients and staff and responsibility can be delegated as appropriate within fit-for-purpose infrastructure.

Lead Aspire to respond effectively to the environmental sustainability and inclusive economy agendas and to continue embedding equity, equality, diversity and inclusion approaches into its workplace.

Develop further Aspire’s delivery role to help realise ‘system change’ upstream, of a more inclusive and sustainable economy, including through encouraging community wealth building and a more regenerative and distributive local economy model.

Maintain regular contact with the Chair and the wider Board of Trustees to facilitate full engagement of the Board and derive maximum benefit from individual and collective Trustees’ experience and connections.
Effective people leadership

Support leadership team and senior fundraiser colleagues to set and meet their professional development & personal objectives, aligned with Aspire’s organisational strategy, contractual requirements and commitment to flexible working and maintaining a healthy work/life balance while delivering against business need.
Effective delivery of charitable programmes

Forge strong, positive relationships – including through alliances and partnerships and alongside our Senior Fundraiser and Chief Programmes Officer (CPO) – with representatives from our service commissioners, statutory partners, key donors/trusts and senior stakeholders for the effective delivery of our charitable programmes, including meeting stipulated funding commitments and performance targets.

Work with the CPO and Senior Managers to build the capacity, range and quality of Aspire’s charitable programmes provision in our strategic priority areas to help ensure we retain contracts in coming years and make the most of emerging opportunities, whilst ensuring our activities focus around our core mission. Support the CPO to strengthen our charitable project data insight, opportunity assessment, lived experience participation and management framework.
Embedding new funding streams and priority project development areas

Identify and develop income-generating activities to strengthen the charity’s financial resilience and carry forward the business development for Aspire’s expanded housing activity, including evaluating and, if appropriate, securing Registered Provider status for Aspire.

Work with the Senior Fundraiser proactively to seek out continuity and expansion funding for our strategic priority charitable programmes.
Compliance

With the Board and SLT, particularly the Chief Operating Officer (COO), ensure Aspire meets all its organisational compliance requirements with respect to existing, and new programmes.
External relationships and brand

Leverage external relationships and brand to support our fundraising strategy, notably any matched fundraising campaign, keeping abreast of stakeholder perceptions and ensure it links to our strategic objectives.

Protect and grow Aspire’s brand and reputation including as an innovative, enterprising, problem-solving organisation including through articulating and implementing a strategic communications plan, representing Aspire at high profile events and initiatives.

An exciting opportunity to join Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT), a vibrant East London charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by homelessness and addiction. This role is crucial in ensuring excellent relationships with fundraisers and donors while supporting the administrative functions of the fundraising team.
Role Overview:
- Responding to Supporter Enquiries: Handle emails, calls, and postal enquiries, providing high standards of customer service.
- Fundraising Stewardship: Thank supporters and acknowledge key events.
- Platform Management: Manage Just Giving, Go Cardless, and other online payment platforms, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Financial Records: Maintain up-to-date financial records and donor databases.
- Event Support: Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events.
- Communications Support: Aid in producing marketing materials and distributing them to SCT shops.
Salary: £24,324 pa FTE
Benefits: 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 with length of service) plus bank holidays (pro rata on basis of 35 pw full time equivalent), 5% employer contribution pension, BUPA Employee Assistance Programme, BUPA Health Insurance cash plan, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme.
