Job Title: Fundraising Officer

Background:
Central London Samaritans (CLS) is the largest of Samaritans’ 201 branches.
Based in the heart of Soho (*), 450 volunteers deliver the Samaritans service round the clock, every day of the year providing support for anyone struggling to cope. Our core objective is to deliver services that support the Samaritans vision that fewer people will die by suicide. Assisted by a small staff team, volunteers manage over 100,000 contacts a year of which, pre-pandemic, 4,500 were face to face visits.
As well as delivering services in our Marshall Street centre, we also work in the community across seven London boroughs. From providing emotional support for London’s homeless, to running peer-to-peer listener programmes at Brixton prison, and delivering talks and workshops to schools and workplaces, we pride ourselves on the support we give to our community. Our volunteers also offer emotional support following any form of crisis affecting Londoners, such as the London Bridge attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.
Role description:
Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community events fundraising plans and activities. You will be managing a select number of events, along with engaging with the community and businesses to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage branch Community and Events, taking a lead for specific awareness events and fundraising events or activities.
- Organise events, including liaison with venues, suppliers, monitoring expenditure, volunteers and participants and ensure all preparation is complete.
- Ensure an excellent level of supporter care and stewardship with supporters is maintained and developed.
- Provide regular reports and information about activities, supporters and volunteers.
- Previous experience working in fundraising in either a community, challenge or mass participant event capacity.
· Manage our external communications, including our website, Mailchimp newsletters and Twitter account.

Experience and Skillset:
- Experience of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with individual fundraisers/supporters and/or, managing fundraising events.

· Knowledge of and ability to develop and coordinate online giving donation platforms.
· Ability to work independently, and as part of a small team – including with volunteer stakeholders – when required
Hours of work and Location:
The basic hours are 28 hours per week spread over four working days. Within these hours there may be need to work some evenings and weekend days depending on when events happen, so flexibility is essential. The core responsibilities should be carried out during weekdays.
The amount of out of hours work will be agreed on an ongoing basis.
Time off in lieu will be allowed in agreement with the Head of Branch Operations and in line with the staff handbook and the European Working Time Directive.
(*) - At present, the branch office is located in Soho but Central London Samaritans, as an organization, will be moving location to a new site in Marylebone in early 2025. We are disclosing this now as the successful candidate would be expected to move with us when the branch office is rebased, so please do take note of this.

The post holder will be required to work within the rules and regulations of Samaritans and accept the authority of the Director and the Chair of the branch’s Board of Trustees, who have discretion to delegate authority to the post holder and to withdraw it.

Responsibilities and Duties
- To establish a fundraising strategy and ensure fundraising compliance.
- To generate income from individual donors at the low, mid and major gift level. To support the Executive Trustee steward existing, and cultivate new, major donors.
- To research and develop a trust and foundation pipeline and prepare and submit grant applications and draft progress reports
- To grow our income and diversify our donor pool through targeted campaigns
- To grow our network – including influencers and organisations that can help to raise our profile
- To ensure appropriate stewardship processes are in place so that donors at all levels feel well thanked and informed of their impact.
- To grow our presence amongst small to medium businesses, London schools and local residents
- To build partnerships with businesses to extend our profile and find new funding opportunities
- To effectively engage schools and businesses to support the Foundation, to raise awareness and help raise funds
- To liaise with the team on a regular basis to explore better community engagement, local connections, and fundraising opportunities
- To report regularly to the Board on income, prospects, and strategic objectives in alignment with our objectives
- To help foster a positive culture of fundraising across the organisation
- To promote the MEF widely, through the written word and social media
- To research and plan fundraising events, with other MEF staff and the charity’s trustees

When someone sustains a spinal cord injury, it is a life changing experience.
Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.
As a Regional Coordinator, you will build relationships and take ownership for what happens in your geographical area. Whether it be providing peer support to newly injured people in a clinical setting, facilitating wheelchair skills sessions, making referrals for ongoing support or supporting volunteers and fundraisers – you will be passionate about being able to demonstrate the impact of what we do, and will see for yourself how Back Up quite literally transforms lives.

The Role

Willingness to travel across Wiltshire, and, when needed, connect with regional service teams.
Full driving licence and access to a roadworthy vehicle.

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease which is uncommon, complex and poorly understood. It affects the immune system and can cause lasting damage to the kidneys, skin, heart, lungs and/or brain. Salary: £38,000 to £42,000 per annum depending on experience

As Development Manager you will be the primary contact for all individual fundraising at Lupus UK. You will drive and manage all the charities community and challenge fundraising events working to support and build fundraising relationships with the lupus community, Lupus UK’s key regional volunteers, community groups and a wider range of individuals and organisations. The focus of this role is to build strong relationships with financial and non-financial supporters to fundraise on behalf of Lupus UK and donate directly to the organisation.
They are looking for candidates with demonstratable track record of success in fundraising from challenge events and community groups, and working with individual financial supporters to funds. The ideal candidate will have experience working with producing copy and communications to general supporters, fundraisers and event participants.
