About the role
Smart Works Reading exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We aim to support 1000 clients with our Interview and Preparation service per year. As such, we require vital funding from Grants, Trusts, Corporates and Foundations to enable us to achieve our mission. We also need support to deliver our annual calendar of corporate events.
We are seeking a Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to join our small and ambitious team. The successful candidate will build a strong pipeline of grant funders, gifts from Trusts & Foundations, and corporate donations, incorporating both core and restricted funding.
The successful candidate will report directly into our Board of Trustees, and work alongside our small staff team, with the objective of maximizing local funding opportunities, expanding our portfolio of grant funders and corporate donations, and attendant relationships, and contributing to a growth in income for the charity. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and identifying prospective funders and corporate partners, writing and submitting high-quality applications and proposals, and delivering excellent grant management, donation and stewardship updates. They will also work closely with the Events Trustees to deliver an exciting calendar of corporate and community fundraising events, and lead our annual sport challenge, Cycle for Smart Works.
We are seeking a proactive self-starter, with experience in philanthropic fundraising and relationship management, excellent written communication skills and demonstrable attention to detail. We would also love to hear if you have experience working with grant applications and/or funding proposals and using a range of tools to identify new funding opportunities.
Smart Works Reading is a collaborative environment, with dynamic teams and ambitious plans across the UK. It is a rewarding national community with regular liaison with the London Charity Partnerships and Fundraising Team.
This is a hybrid role, working from the Reading centre at least three days per week. Some evening and weekend work will also be required to support philanthropic fundraising and wider fundraising events such as Fashion Sales.

Duties and responsibilities
- Building excellent relationships and networking with corporate and community partners, generating awareness and income of minimum £165k for the centre across grants, events and corporate fundraising.
- Maintain database with relevant income tracking and pipeline data to facilitate regular KPI and financial reporting to the Board of Trustees.
- Lead our annual signature corporate challenge - Cycle for Smart Works - to target income c. £25k, including managing the project locally from planning to delivery, identifying and onboarding corporate and community participant teams and stewardship of the programme.
- Securing one-year and multi-year grants from a range of Trusts and Foundations, including traditional grant funders, local charities, family foundations and corporate foundations to meet income targets c. 100k.
- Researching and identifying prospective grant funders, and corporates, donors and individuals who could support Smart Works Reading, and building and maintaining long-term relationships.
- Writing high-quality grant applications, working collaboratively with the Chair of the Board and staff team to deliver creative and compelling proposals for both core and restricted funding.
- Maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective funders, including the preparation of impact reports and sharing regular updates on grant management.
- Maintaining an accurate data record of pledged, banked and prospective income for the Reading centre, working in collaboration with Smart Works Charity to maintain local management accounts.
- Representing Smart Works Reading to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness within the local community.
- Support the Events Trustee with stewardship of fashion and retail partners, including venue and catering supporters, as well as our corporate partners supporting the charity.
- Support the delivery of our signature fundraising events, including high-end supporter events and fashion sales, where the Events Trustee manages the project from concept to execution and ensures income targets are met.
- Developing and implementing new initiatives to raise funds for the charity, for example, Fashion Club, following other centre’s initiatives.
Personal specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience generating income of at least five figures from philanthropic income. Demonstrable experience securing corporate partnerships.
- Experience in cultivating strong and positive relationships, both internally and externally, with multiple and senior stakeholders.
- Presentation skills, to prospective partners and able to tell the Smart Works story.
- Experience working with grant applications and/or funding proposals, presentations, and utilising arrange of tools to identify new funding opportunities.
- Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports for different audiences.
- Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving, with an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising strategy.
- Passionate and enthusiastic about the mission and vision of Smart Works, demonstrated through clear initial research and understanding in the written application.

The Fundraising Development Manager role is a real opportunity to help Somerset Wildlife Trust develop a sustainable fundraising strategy and bring together the Fundraising and Supporter Development Team to retain and grow donations. Responsible for our 23,000 members, as well as appeals, adoptions, our online shop and member events, the Fundraising Development Manager will lead the team to bring in a significant proportion of unrestricted income, as well as managing the relationships with some of our most passionate supporters.
We are looking for an insightful fundraising manager who can help us maintain our existing fundraising channels as well as developing our corporate membership strategy and investigating new sources of giving and opportunities we have yet to take advantage of – essential if we are to achieve our ambitious strategy. You’ll be working with the entire wider fundraising team to help develop leads and pipelines to support the wider fundraising efforts, as well as having the opportunity to diversify our fundraising actions.
Meet Fundraising Strategic Targets
Supervise and line manage the Fundraising and Supporter Care Team by building integrated programmes of supporter development activities that retain and grow donations and fundraising from existing supporters and deliver growth in income by recruiting new financial supporters to achieve financial targets.
Responsibility 1: Leading Public Fundraising Activity
Manage fundraising activity through:
- Leading the fundraising team to build integrated programmes of activities that increase donors and deliver growth in income.
- Growing annual membership numbers by managing and maintaining current recruitment channels. Oversee relationships and engagement with our membership including complaint management.
- Managing the relationship with the Trust’s face to face membership recruitment company, SWWFL, to deliver best efficiency and returns on investment.
- Planning and implementing integrated appeals and other ways for members and the public to give which deliver strong results to support the Trust’s fundraising priorities and targets.
- Working as fundraising leadership team with the Philanthropy and Trusts & Grants Managers, supporting the Head of Fundraising on strategic projects.
- Developing and testing activities based on insights and analysis to ensure the best return on investment across all segments of the supporter base, to support fundraising colleagues.
- Managing existing corporate relationships to maintain and improve corporate fundraising levels, supporting account management of corporate partners.
- Establishing a data collection strategy in line with current data protection rules and which creates a pool of warm leads to convert into donors.
- Ensuring our new supporter database (Raiser’s Edge) is fully developed within the Trust and developed to maximise our integration with existing systems. Supporting teams across the organisation to use RE to increase knowledge of existing relationships and creating opportunities for fundraising and engagement.
- Managing the workload, performance and personal development of the supporter development team to drive more support and income for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
- Being accountable for setting the Supporter Development budget and reporting on performance against targets, to help inform planning and product development.
- Championing the use of best practice marketing techniques, including data collection and GDPR, throughout the Trust, with a particular commitment to delivering high standards of supporter care and fundraising practice.
Responsibility 2: Developing sustainable income streams
Be proactive and nurture strong relationships by:
- Identifying, developing and testing new individual giving fundraising activities based on insights and analysis, to ensure sustainable fundraising income across a variety of sources that target all segments of the supporter base.
- Identifying and testing membership recruitment diversification channels and growing annual membership income via techniques including upgrades.
- Designing and implementing a fundraising strategy for corporates, including identifying targets, developing relationships, and significantly increasing income from this fundraising channel. Work with other corporate functions across the Trust to ensure a combined corporate offering that benefits everyone.
Responsibility 3: Developing Fundraising pipelines
Provide management and accountability by:
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to contribute ideas and knowledge to deliver integrated engagement and fundraising campaigns and the growth of other income streams, including gifts of £1k+, gifts in wills, Community Fundraising and Grant Fundraising.
- Creating user journeys and stewardship for our supporters to help retention and increase giving propensities.
- Developing a warm lead generation and development program to increase the number of potential donors within our database, supporting all areas of individual giving including Community Fundraising, Legacies, Major Donors and Patrons.
- Working with the Database Officer, Philanthropy Manager and Community Fundraising Manager to identify segments within the database that could be developed into Major Donors or to support other fundraising income streams.
- Investigating and developing an event strategy to help support specific demographic groups including Corporates, members and other key supporters, including the annual AGM and members day.

The Responsibilities

• Develop the customer experience for your caseload to world class standard. Ensure gifts and donor relationship information is accurately recorded, processed, thanked and reported on in a timely and confidential fashion using Raisers Edge and developing a strong relationship with the Giving Team and other internal stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively and accurately with other entity Fundraising Teams. Support and collaborate with wider fundraising opportunities and to attend all relevant fundraising team meetings to have a rounded understanding of what we are trying to achieve in our fundraising across the group.
• Responsible for keeping updated on relevant fundraising and volunteering best practice, regulations and opportunities. Ensuring you undertake the training offered to you, proactively seek out learning opportunities within the third sector and Christian or Corporate philanthropy networks.
• Other ad hoc projects as they arise. Including but not limited to working with our network to facilitate partnership opportunities with Churches and LYN Hubs, being willing to support with advice for developing their local fundraising. The Right Candidate
• A 3 year track record of demonstrable growth in income against targets.
• Experience of identifying and developing funding partnerships using research, networking and delivering timely proposals for funding and engagement with a high conversion rate.

The Digital Fundraising Manager for WWF International will work to deliver effective digital strategies and techniques across selected markets, with the ultimate aim of maximising short and long term income (primarily unrestricted). The post-holder will create and implement online donor acquisition and retention strategies, as well as develop a diverse portfolio of fundraising products for WWF International. The role is also responsible for providing vision and leadership for WWF International in the fast-moving area of digital fundraising.
This is an exciting time to be joining the team. WWF International is aiming to strengthen its digital fundraising capacity by optimising the current technical infrastructure (contact management tool, mass engagement tool, etc) and develop a strong online donor experience to acquire and retain donors in selected WWF International markets.
The ideal candidate will have significant levels of experience in the field of digital fundraising and of using digital to drive supporter action online and offline. This should include experience of designing, planning and delivering successful digital activities, such as designing and optimising the donor journey, SEM/SEO/SMO, social media (paid social) and/or digital advertising campaigns (paid search, Google grants) that generate incremental income. In terms of skills, you will need to be creative, entrepreneurial, be able to think strategically, design effective data-based action plans, and possess excellent project management skills. Knowsley Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice, and a voice for carers living and caring in the Borough of Knowsley.
Knowsley Carers Centre is a growing charity, established in ~October 1997 to support the borough's 16000 unpaid/family carers.
A highly motivated and experienced person is required to identify and support unpaid carers.
Proven experience of the sector and an understanding of unpaid carers’ issues are essential along with the ability to work independently.
Job Purpose: To find and assist Carers in the Knowsley area by providing advice, information, drop-in sessions, facilitating support groups, home visiting, training and a variety of other methods highlighted by Carers in Knowsley.
Duties and Responsibilities
Information and Support
All staff are expected to be familiar with the range of services and events provided by Knowsley Carers Centre.
The Carers Support Officers specifically: -
1) Provide Carers with advice and support to improve the quality of their lives and the person they care for:
This will include:
a) Completing current procedure for Carers’ Assessments and to support Carers through the Assessment process.
b) Offering Carers the opportunity to take up other services offered by KCC such as coffee mornings and Holistic Therapies.
c) Providing an empathetic and supportive ear to Carers about the difficulties they may be experiencing. Remind carers that we are here to provide a listening ear and offer our counselling service if appropriate.
d) To signpost Carers to relevant voluntary and statutory organisations.
2) Keep up-to-date with services, benefits and organisations relevant to Carers.
3) To assist in the promotion of the work of the organisation by use of media, talks, presentations, displays etc.
4) Make links with relevant statutory and voluntary organisations.
5) Use any of the above opportunities to identify hidden Carers and
Casework
1) Work on behalf of Carers both by phone and in writing to help them to obtain the services they need.
2) Make home-visits as necessary to carry out this aspect of the work and initial support to new carers via home visit with the agreement of line manager.
3) Liaise with other advice/advocacy organisations to develop and maintain referral systems.
4) Complete all the necessary administrational tasks related to the role including updating all contacts on the database.
Groups and Events
1) Setting up, administering and facilitating Carers Support Groups.
2) Organise outings and events for Carers. To liaise with the manager to raise small funds to assist with one to one support or group support.
3) Work with other members of the Knowsley Carers Centre staff team to plan, organise and facilitate special events and activities e.g. During National Carers Week.
Administration and Monitoring
1) Complete contacts on the database for every interaction with each carer. All phone calls, drop ins, home visits letters, emails and texts to have a separate contact.
2) Ensure attendees at group events whether in house or at another venue complete the signing in sheet. Complete the register for these events on the database if requested to do so.
3) Add names to waiting lists for trips and events following the standard procedure. Make appointments for carers to attend holistic therapies following the standard procedure.
4) Write up case studies and other reports as requested by line manager.
5) To be primarily self-servicing including word processing letters, keeping appropriate records of work undertaken, write reports and complete monitoring forms.
6) All of the above are necessary for management to produce statistics and other monitoring reports to comply with funders requests outlined in the main contract and other sources of funding.
General Tasks
1) To work as part of a team contributing to the smooth and effective running of Knowsley Carers Centre.
2) To produce articles for the Carers Centre newsletter and to distribute
to various establishments around Knowsley.
3) To attend and actively participate in regular supervision, team meetings and annual appraisal sessions.
4) To undertake relevant training and staff development activities as required.
5) To undertake occasional evening/weekend work where necessary.
6) To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Centre Manager.

About the Role
The Africa Death Penalty Team Project Manager is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. Our casework includes work on individual cases on behalf of people facing a death sentence; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing; and long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter.
Regional context
There is a trend toward the abolition of the death penalty in Africa. In recent years, countries across the continent have taken the decision to limit the application of the death penalty or to abolish it altogether. This has been seen as a turning away from old laws and systems that were imposed by former colonial governments, which obstructed alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and were designed to remove discretion from the local judiciary. African lawyers and judges are now at the forefront of a wave of progressive jurisprudence on issues related to the death penalty including methods of executions, torture, sentencing practice, conditions of confinement, and intersections of gender, disability, and socioeconomic status with criminal justice. This jurisprudence has become a model for the international movement to limit the death penalty, and is being held up as best practice in jurisdictions around the world.
Contract and location
This is a full-time, permanent role based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model with staff working part of the week from home and part of the week from the office. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

The role

The Fundraising Systems & Data Analysis (FSDA) team of the Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking applicants for the position of Senior Manager, Analytics and Insight. The Senior Analytics and Insight Manager will be responsible for instilling a data-driven and data-informed culture to make evidence-based decisions, increase efficiencies, improve overall departmental return on investment (ROI), grow new fundraising streams, and achieve long-term profitability.
The Senior Analytics and Insight Manager will generate, improve, and analyze fundraising data, both quantitative and qualitative, from internal and external sources to produce strategic information that supports data-driven and informed decisions, tactics, and strategies that consistently maximize HRW fundraising results. This role will feed into both the quarterly reforecasts and annual budget data and supporting methodology and collaborating with the Finance team as needed for the Development department.
This full-time position will ideally be based in either the United States or Europe, preferably in one of the cities where HRW has an office and will report to the Managing Director of Fundraising Systems and Data Analysis based in London. The Senior Analytics and Insight Manager will manage at least one direct report.
The successful candidate may have the option to work remotely but is expected to work from the office 1-2 times a week. We aim to be as flexible and supportive as possible in both the recruitment for and onboarding of this position.
Responsibilities:
Product Management Oversight:
1. Provide strategic, tactical, and operational planning of all Business Intelligence (BI_ Systems and tools utilized by the Development Department;
2. Implement and build the BI structure of the Development Department, working closely with CRM (Salesforce) team and working with vendors as needed to understand the desired outcomes;
3. Partner with the Training & Support team to promote user adoption of BI reports by developing and implementing communication plans, training campaigns, and incentives to encourage staff engagement and utilization;

We’re looking for an experienced prospect researcher with strong analytical skills and an excellent knowledge of the global philanthropic space to join our Private Sector Fundraising team. You will be joining a growing major gifts programme with ambitious goals and a strong new business focus.
Someone with prospect research experience in a global health, scientific or medical non-profit setting, and the ability to move comfortably between the worlds of research and philanthropy and to identify opportunities beyond the obvious will be ideal.
Specific responsibilities focus on:
- Assist in developing a proactive and growth-focused prospect research strategy that aligns with DNDi's fundraising plans and strategic priorities.
- Contribute to developing a visibility strategy for DNDi through the identification and tracking of prizes and relevant philanthropic and global health conferences.
- Identify, track, and report on prospective donors for various funding priorities, ensuring they meet fundraising ambitions.
- Make data-driven recommendations to support the cultivation of new prospects and the management of key donor relationships.
- Present research results through written reports and presentations for various audiences.
- Conduct ethical screening and due diligence research on prospects and donors to ensure compliance with DNDi's policies and data protection regulations.
- Manage prospect research related relationships (contractual and budgetary aspects) and monitor expenditure for resource optimization.
An interesting candidate would be someone with
- A deep understanding of the global philanthropic landscape and strong in-depth knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in at least 3-4 countries (US, UK landscape is vital and knowledge of additional markets (Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands or Sweden) highly regarded) with some focus on prospect research experience in developing markets.
- Master’s degree or equivalent with a Minimum 6 years’ relevant experience in prospect research experience or a strong equivalent (eg other roles within fundraising) for international NGOs, scientific organisations or organizations with global public health relevance. Some experience with medical research or neglected tropical diseases would be highly regarded.
- Someone who is driven and able to work effectively in a remote team environment and matrix structure
Location: UK, remote or hybrid in London. (The person may be based remotely or with the possibility of being able to work in a hybrid mode in London from MSF’s office 2-3 days per week.)

Support/Support Services
- Responsible for the development of a portfolio of high-quality support services for people of all ages across the UK who have experienced meningitis.
- Responsible for (and contribute towards) the delivery of support services, including events and out of hours peer support as and when required.
- Provide a ‘senior lead’ safeguarding role for Meningitis Now, ensuring that our safeguarding policy, which includes eSafety, is fully implemented.
- Embrace digital technology to develop a range of services to meet the varied and often complex needs of individuals.
- Oversee the appropriate use of evaluation and outcome measures to ensure that we can demonstrate the difference that we make and continually improve service delivery.
- Support the development of the reach of the organisation to enable more people to access support working with other members of the team and organisation.
- Oversee all marketing activities relating to support and working closely with the communications team.
- Assist with reviewing and updating policies and procedures relevant to the team and the wider directorate.
- Ensure the integrity of data collected on Salesforce to enable accurate reporting and monitoring of activities against key performance indicators.
- Work closely with the partnerships team to secure funding for support services and ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Information and Support Management Team
- Assist in the development and delivery of strategy.

- Work closely with the Director of Information and Support, to oversee financial elements of support including budget setting, monitoring expenditure, and overseeing budget lines.
- Work closely with the Director of Information and Support and Helpline and Information Nurse Manager to put in place a reporting structure that allows the collection and dissemination of information and data.
- Deputise for the Director of Information and Support as required.
Line Management
- Responsible for the line management of staff within the support services team including recruitment and selection, planning out development, performance, training, and support.
- Deal sensitively and promptly with personnel issues when they arise in line with established procedures and reporting, and in keeping with the values of the Charity.
- Ensure policies, systems and processes are in place, utilised and regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with legislation such as data protection and safeguarding.
- Liaise and relay information between the senior management team, HR, and the organisation.
- Responsible for overseeing the external supervision of staff including yearly reporting.
- Manage and contribute to a programme of continual professional development for all staff across the directorate.
