Job description

Step into a pivotal leadership role where you’ll shape and drive the income and engagement strategy for a mission-led organisation at a critical stage of growth and change. This is a permanent interim opportunity offering hybrid working, with just one to two days per month required on-site in Kent, giving you the flexibility to balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.

About the Role:
As Director of Income and Engagement, you will lead the organisation’s income generation, fundraising, and engagement functions to deliver sustainable growth and diversification of revenue. You will set and execute a clear strategic direction, aligning income and engagement activity with organisational priorities and long-term goals. Working closely with the executive team, you will ensure that financial performance, stakeholder relationships, and organisational development are tightly coordinated to support impact and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive income and engagement strategy, covering fundraising, partnerships, and supporter engagement.
* Lead the planning and execution of income generation campaigns and initiatives to meet and exceed agreed financial targets.
* Oversee the management and development of key stakeholder and partner relationships, including major donors, corporate partners, and strategic alliances.
* Provide robust financial management and budget oversight for income and engagement functions, ensuring effective allocation of resources and cost control.
* Use data analysis and performance reporting to monitor income streams, track engagement metrics, and inform strategic decision-making.
* Drive change management initiatives within the income and engagement portfolio, ensuring new ways of working are embedded and understood across teams.
* Lead organisational development within the directorate, shaping structures, processes, and culture to support high performance and collaboration.
* Provide clear leadership and people management to multi-disciplinary teams, setting objectives, coaching managers, and ensuring accountability for results.

Key Requirements:
* Proven track record in senior-level income generation and fundraising leadership within a complex organisation.
* Demonstrable experience in strategic planning and execution, with evidence of delivering sustainable income growth.
* Strong expertise in stakeholder and partner relationship management, including building and maintaining high-value, long-term partnerships.
* Solid financial management skills, including budget oversight, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring.
* Advanced ability to interpret and use data analysis and performance reporting to drive decisions and improve results.
* Experience leading change management and organisational development initiatives in a fast-evolving environment.
* Established background in team leadership and people management, including leading managers and specialist professionals.
* Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, with availability to attend the Kent office one to two days per month.

Desirable Skills:
* Experience in the charity, non-profit, or public sector, particularly in roles focused on fundraising and engagement.
* Familiarity with digital engagement, and supporter journey optimisation.
* Background in income diversification, including trading, social enterprise, or innovative funding models.
* Experience influencing at Board level and working closely with trustees or non-executive directors.

If you are a strategic, results-focused leader ready to drive income and engagement in a hybrid role with minimal on-site commitment in Kent, we’d like to hear from you.
