The charity is now seeking its first Development Manager to play a pivotal role within this small but ambitious organisation to support with its celebratory anniversary event and longer-term goals. The event will be ambitious, fun, a spectacle to inspire and create a sense of community. The aim is for the event to act as a springboard to a structured fundraising programme, increased public engagement and reputation-building efforts to keep the Bomb Factory’s doors open for the next ten years.
The role has potential to scale with the charity and would suit someone who is experienced and hands-on with development, a team player, willing and confident to contribute to decision-making and shape fundraising strategy.
Job title: Development Manager
Reporting to: Strategy Manager and regular liaison with Director, Head of Operations, Trustees
Hours: 3 days (21 hours) a week flexible between the hours of 9am and 6pm - to be agreed with the Manager
Length: 6 month contract (immediate start) with potential to be made permanent on a 2-day a week basis
Location: The role can be worked on a hybrid basis, with an office currently based in the Bomb Factory Holborn building. Applicants must be able to come to the London office at least one day per week
Salary: £35,000 FTE per annum (prorated for part time)
Job purpose
To plan and project manage the charity’s 10 year anniversary celebratory event to be delivered in October 2025 and to kick start the charity's fundraising prospects.
Specific responsibilities:

The Director of Philanthropy will be part of the Executive Team and be responsible for overseeing the successful creation and delivery of a new income generation strategy for the mission of the Lodge.
Focusing on Ultra High Net Worth Individuals and Corporates, this role will lead the relationship mapping, building, and the fundraising ask. It will convey the unique offering Cumberland Lodge can bring to potential donors and work towards multimillion pound income levels to ensure the growth of the charity's educational programme delivery and activity. This role line manages one staff member and has direct support from the CEO to achieve income generation growth. A key opportunity is the upcoming 80 th anniversary of the Educational Foundation in 2027.
The successful candidate will be able to evidence extensive high value fundraising experience, with notable examples of successfully securing six and seven-figure gifts from major donors and corporates.
This person will have proven experience of creating and leading successful philanthropy fundraising strategy to achieve income and engagement growth of a multimillion-pound level. They will also be an experienced senior leader and ideally have knowledge of the education, youth, social impact, and social values sectors. They will champion an inclusive culture and align with Cumberland Lodge's mission and values.

- Responsible for the end-to-end management of the Legacy Marketing Programme, including Gifts in Wills
- In collaboration with the Individual Giving and Philanthropy Manager, develop and evolve the Legacy Marketing Programme, including In Memory and Tribute Fund marketing, in alignment to the Charity’s mission and strategic goals
- Execute and further develop a comprehensive legacy strategy, with a focus on retention and income growth through, tested supporter journeys, digital channels and automation. Planning for journeys to end with a gift in a will
- Optimise and create supporter journeys to increase propensity to give and drive loyalty and consideration among legacy and individual giving prospects
- Responsible for aligning legacy acquisition and retention marketing to the individual giving programme, to maximise uptake and engagement. In conjunction with their manager, work together to develop new ideas and best practices to improve the number of legacy pledges and the income from In Memory fundraising to increase annual gift amounts
- Achieve income targets that support the delivery of fundraising goals aimed at delivering in excess of £3m+ per annum
- Campaign Management: Plan, execute, and evaluate multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, and social media, to maximize giving. Keep track of results and flag under or over performance in a timely manner

Myeloma UK is looking for a driven and pro-active Events Fundraiser to join our growing Community and Events team. You’ll be joining the team as we continue to refine and expand our mass participation events portfolio including London Paris Ride, Great North Run and 100 miles for myeloma. You will have experience in event delivery or project planning, delivering these activities within tight deadlines while successfully building effective relationships.
The role holder will have strong administration skills, attention to detail and work as part of a team. You will be self-motivated and able to work remotely with little supervision, managing a wide range of tasks and having an interest in sporting and mass participation fundraising events.
Previous experience or knowledge of digital marketing, virtual fundraising events and using Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM system would be an advantage but not essential.
About the role
As the Events Fundraiser you will be required to research, promote and deliver fundraising events, campaigns and activities, providing excellent stewardship to supporters, whilst working to help achieve monthly fundraising income targets. You will work to deliver an annual calendar of runs, walks, challenge and sporting events across the UK as well increasing support through Myeloma UK virtual and Facebook events.
The role holder will work with the Senior Event Development Fundraiser to provide the highest quality of event delivery as well as developing relationships, securing support, marketing, delivering and monitoring the event ensuring post event evaluation and future recommendations are made. They will also work closely with Community Fundraisers, supporting them as they identify opportunities to expand and diversify their fundraising portfolio.
You will work with other teams, develop materials required to support all marketing and promotion of events, ensuring organisational brand, style and key messages are adopted and ensure maximum use of database and other technology to increase operational efficiency within event fundraising.
