InterAct Stroke Support is a small, established national charity that uses the power of live readings to support stroke recovery. Our professional actors deliver one-to-one readings to stroke survivors in hospitals and stroke clubs across the UK, helping to improve mood, confidence and emotional wellbeing.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and resourceful freelance fundraiser to join our friendly team and help us build on our existing fundraising successes while developing new sources of income.

Our funding currently comes primarily from charitable trusts and foundations, and maintaining these relationships will remain an important part of the role. However, we are particularly keen to expand our fundraising into the corporate sector and develop individual giving.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Researching and preparing applications to trusts and foundations.
• Identifying and developing new corporate partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
• Helping to establish and grow individual giving initiatives.
• Building and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective funders.
• Managing fundraising records, monitoring income and producing regular fundraising reports.
• Contributing ideas and initiatives to help develop and diversify the charity's income.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience of successful fundraising, particularly from trusts and foundations.
• Experience using CRM platforms and managing fundraising databases.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including preparing and maintaining fundraising reports.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to produce persuasive funding applications.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
• Experience in reaching targets.
• The confidence, initiative and enthusiasm to identify and pursue new funding opportunities.

Experience in corporate fundraising, individual giving or fundraising within the charity, arts or healthcare sectors would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Working Arrangements

This is a freelance role, initially for two days per week, with the possibility of increasing to three days as funding allows.

We would expect the successful candidate to spend at least one day each week working alongside our team at our Bermondsey office. The remaining day can be worked from home, with flexibility over working days.

The successful applicant should be available for handover and training during early December 2026, before formally taking up the position in January 2027.  Initial interviews will be via Zoom week of 23rd November.    Shortlisted candidates will  then be invited to our office for an in person interview.
