Terrence Higgins Trust is recruiting a Head of Public Fundraising to lead and grow our individual giving, legacies, community fundraising (including our shop), database and supporter care programmes.
You will drive supporter engagement, develop effective fundraising campaigns, and maximise income to help us deliver our mission. You will bring strong leadership and strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a track record of delivering results. The Fundraising and Communications team source the vital income needed for the organisation to create impact and maximise that impact for our service users and beneficiaries. General Overview of Role
The post-holder will be responsible for writing bid applications within Combat Stress. This will include:
- Support the development and delivery of Combat Stress's bid writing under the leadership of the Director of Fundraising (DoF) and Head of Trusts and Foundations (HTF), in order to support our role as a specialist UK-wide provider of mental health services to veterans with complex mental health needs.
- With guidance and support from DoF and HoTF contribute to the various stages of a bid or tender process.
- Support the team in managing service contracts.
- Ensure compliance with the business development framework and governance processes - with support from DoF and HoTF.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Complete bid writing in support of the business development agenda of Combat Stress, working with all departments in promoting our services to attract new business and supporting cost-effective service delivery.
- Contribute to our revenue generation agenda by owning and contributing to bid documents such as mobilisation or communication plans.
- Support the assessment of the healthcare market within which we operate, to ensure we are best placed to achieve growth and have the appropriate strategies to mitigate risks
- Support the development, monitoring and delivery of business developments plans, systems and processes in line with our strategy and targets
- Work across departments in order to adhere to the full service specification of the bid or tender.
- Work with the DoF to develop existing partnership arrangements and to develop the case to support new service and business partnerships, commercial ventures, and creative contract solutions to further our strategic aims.
- Manage the "bid/no bid" process to lead our responses to ITTs, lead on bid writing and project management of bid submissions
- Produce reports and proposals, including spreadsheets, involve bids for additional funding from commissioners.
- Review and refine all business development processes and templates to maintain "fit for purpose"
Contract Management
- Assist with the development, monitoring, management, and review of contracts.
Communication
- Contribute to the communication strategy within and external to the Charity
- Support the team on any other projects as requested by the DoF
General responsibilities
- Ensure data collection in general is kept up to date, in accordance with legislation and the policies of the Charity, and incident reports are completed in accordance with the policies of the Charity.

Ideally you will have experience in growing income from trust and foundations from both longstanding and new potential partners, or be able to demonstrate highly relevant transferable experience. You will be capable of compiling strong fundraising proposals; produce high quality reports; partner with financial colleagues in preparing complex budgets and financial reports. A compelling written communicator, you will have a keen understanding of the humanitarian sector, and of what motivates trusts and foundations to support this work.
Key Activity Areas
Lead Generation

Be responsible for account management of caseload of mid-range Trusts & Foundations.

Work collaboratively with the Engagement Manager, Engagement Support Officer and volunteers in the identification, approach and management of UK Trusts and Foundations.

Regularly research and review opportunities for building potential relationships with prospective Trusts and Foundations and progressing relationships and applications with them through compelling communications.

Work with existing networks and contacts to identify and approach potential trusts and foundations and develop relationships with key decision makers there

Communications and Management

Work towards an agreed target each year of engaged trusts and related income, both restricted project and unrestricted funds.

Write compelling cases for support and proposals in order to secure grants

Effectively work with internal contacts throughout the global Medair organisation in the preparation of approved proposals, reports and supporting financial and impact information

Manage Medair’s engagement plan, initiating and delivering creative touchpoints throughout the year for all of Medair’s trust and foundation partners, as well as building relationships with trustees and representatives through video, online meetings, events and face-2-face opportunities
Planning, monitoring and pipeline management

Maintain a good record of the application pipeline and CRM (salesforce), monitoring application output, income targets, fund allocations and reporting deadlines.

Ensuring all grants from trusts and foundations are correctly allocated to Medair programmes, with the appropriate grant card on Medair’s project management platform and maintaining good contact with country programmes and finance partners throughout the lifecycle of Medair UK co-funded projects.
Internal Liaison

Liaise with Medair’s Heads of Country Programmes, Country Directors and Communications Officers in order to gather information and data for the purposes of applying and reporting to funders

Fundraising & income generation
· Trusts & grants: Research, write, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies to secure new and repeat funding.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern:
This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our sector-leading Community Fundraising team as a Community Fundraising Executive.
We’re an ambitious charity with a bold mission and fantastic culture. As a key member of the Community Fundraising team, you’ll work alongside the Community Fundraising Managers, Executives and Co-ordinators to achieve the exciting growth plans in our new 3 -year fundraising strategy.
In this role, you’ll take the lead on our DIY walking and cycling fundraising activity, which currently raises over £750k each year. We’re looking for someone with knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment – ideally within a community or events context. You’ll have a proven track record of delivering brilliant supporter experiences, building genuine relationships and stewarding fundraisers through their events. You’ll understand the importance of meeting supporter needs and how to keep them inspired and connected to the cause.
You’ll bring excellent organisational skills and experience of planning and managing projects with multiple stakeholders, making sure we hit our KPIs and maximise fundraising income. With knowledge of how to plan, deliver and evaluate marketing activity, including digital campaigns on Meta, you’ll be comfortable finding ways to engage new supporters and keep them motivated.
A forward-thinker and natural problem solver, you won’t be afraid to use your initiative and analytical skills to spot opportunities for improvement and help shape new ideas. You’ll have experience developing, or supporting the development of, annual fundraising plans and budgets, and delivering against these to meet targets.
Clear, motivational communication comes naturally to you, whether it’s writing to supporters, updating colleagues or reporting on results. You’ll also be confident using databases to keep accurate records, analyse data and share insights that help us grow.

About the role
This role saves lives at sea by inspiring and motivating a team of supporter-focused professionals who deliver fantastic experiences and respond to volunteer needs in order to secure the vital income that powers our lifesaving delivery. This will suit someone who has an expanse of fundraising and leadership experience as the job will involve overseeing the community branches, shops, regional partnerships and visits delivery plans for the region as well as matrix oversight of other fundraising functions.
As the Regional Engagement Lead, you will lead engagement activity for the South West region. The South West region covers Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, West Dorset, Wiltshire, Isles of Scilly and the Channel Islands with regular travel to the Regional Base in Saltash (applicants must live within the region).
As part of the Regional Leadership Team, you will provide leadership, guidance, vision and direction to ensure your region delivers its core service in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
In this role, you will be responsible for and accountable for ensuring that the RNLI is the most loved and best-supported charity. About you
We are looking for a visionary, natural leader who loves to inspire people. Perhaps you’ve worked in a variety of fundraising leadership roles in areas such as community fundraising, charity retail and/or partnerships in other charities or organisations. Or, you may have been a Head of Fundraising in a local charity. If yes is the answer to any of these, then the Regional Engagement Lead could be the role for you.

Role Overview:
The Senior Designer will help us deliver creative content which encourages our audiences to take action with us. Working across printed assets (such as mailers and brochures) to video (for feedback emails or social media ads) to digital ads (paid social, display etc.), you will have an array of creative skills and won’t be afraid to think outside the box to deliver content which inspires.
Working at a senior level, you will be comfortable managing your briefs and projects, working to deadlines and communicating clearly with stakeholders across the organisation. You will act as a guardian of our brand, delivering creative which meets brand guidelines.
Main Responsibilities:
· Produce effective creative assets which inspire our audiences to take action with MH. These assets could be across the following mediums, but not limited to:
o Digital static banners/ads
o Video including reels
o Gifs
o HTML5
o Printed collateral such as brochures or mailers
· Confident working across the full adobe suite, as well as Figma with a willingness to learn new tools as needed.
· Be a guardian of our brand, ensuring all collateral produced fits our brand guidelines.
· As part of the fundraising team, you will lead on creative brainstorming sessions to think about how we can create content which further inspires and engages our audiences – putting the audience’s needs at the forefront of all design choices.
· Design tasks may also be needed to support teams outside of fundraising as needed.
· Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.

Main Duties
- Actively manage donor relationships across assigned portfolio of largely UK supporters with first class stewardship and reporting to secure renewals and uplifts of approximately £1m per annum.
