What’s the job?

Working under the direction of Academic Representation Manager, you will coordinate and develop a Course Rep scheme that accurately and legitimately represents Manchester Met students and creates positive change and supervise and support the Faculty Organisers throughout the year in supporting course reps and the work of other union departments within faculties.

• You will lead on the course rep recruitment plan and training, including the delivery of the lead volunteer program, maintaining a partnership approach to delivering the Course Rep scheme, through positive relationships with university stakeholders and Union colleagues.
• You will organise and deliver events and workshops for Course Reps around particularly issues identified as relevant to their academic community and support the Academic Representation Manager with any projects, consultations or research into the academic experience at MMU.

What are we looking for?

• You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience organising and delivering events, workshops or training.
• You will have experience of supporting or supervising volunteers or staff members alongside an understanding of HE issues and issues affecting HE students

In October 2022 Salford City Council commissioned Salford CVS to undertake research into the strengths of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector as part of their Joint Needs and Strengths Assessment.

Every three years since 2008, Salford CVS leads on State of the VCSE Sector research in Salford and also across Greater Manchester. Working with other local infrastructure organisations, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the VCSE sector. Our last research report was published in 2021 and we have started planning for the research to be conducted this year.

In August 2023 we further developed our VCSE sector research and insight work with the commencement of our Salford 99 longitudinal study. This research project is designed to understand the issues affecting the VCSE sector in Salford and aims to track 99 VCSE organisations every six months for a three-year period, so that we gain ‘live’ insight in between our three-yearly State of the VCSE sector large research project. Alongside this work we conduct a Pulse Check survey with a variety of VCSE organisations to get a snapshot of what is changing for them each quarter.

This exciting VCS Research and Insight role involves a combination of VCSE engagement and insight work across Salford.

About the Role 

The Events Fundraiser will support the charity’s aim to provide all life-limited children, their families, and carers, within their hospice, emotional support through the power and pleasure of nature. The post holder will be responsible for generating income through the management of a range of fundraising events, as well as supporting individuals organising their own fundraising activities within their community and/or corporate environment. 

You will ensure efficient event management and administration as well as provide excellent supporter care. 

The Event Fundraiser will:

• Project manage a range of events, including planning, marketing, and supporter stewardship, through to event delivery and evaluation. 
• Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders to deliver and schedule events, on time, within budget, meeting fundraising goals.

They do this by advocating for policy changes and campaign tirelessly to ensure that decision-makers address the inequalities experienced by families with disabled children. This amazing organisation are entering a period of exciting change and are searching for Head of HR on a permanent basis to head up their dynamic HR team and bring their performance and capacity to the next level. This role within this incredible charity is very suitable for those with experience in the not-for-profit sector.

This is a hybrid role, and only requiring a minimum of one day a week in their main office which is a short walk from Old Street Station (National Rail) and Angel Station (London Underground). This position will be reporting directly to Director of Finance and Resources and the main responsibilities for Head of HR are:

• Deliver fit-for-purpose HR services, including people management strategies, performance development, and employment relations advice.
• Act as a proactive business partner, offering support and guidance to key stakeholders such as line managers, team heads, and the senior management team.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance & Resources to enhance internal HR policies and systems for effective organisational functioning.
• Lead the development and implementation of the future people strategy in alignment with Contact's broader strategy and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Manage two direct reports, oversee relationships with external partners, and ensure efficient HR and resource support services for Contact.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Extensive experience as a primary resource for all HR policy matters throughout an organisation.
• Possession of a professional HR qualification, minimally CIPD Level 5 (Associate) or equivalent.
• Proficiency in organising and prioritising dynamic workloads for optimal operational outcomes.
• Skilled in conducting difficult conversations, conflict resolution, and fostering compassionate communication.
• Qualification/experience in project management
• Experience in reward and benefits review process

A large prestigious Local Authority is seeking an immediate experienced Events Officer to join an interesting and developing events team for a 6-month period, or longer.

Purpose of Post

To produce major outdoor events as part of an ambitious new Plan for the City of London, which is set to transform its attractiveness, and to build on its reputation as a destination that is fun, inclusive, sustainable, and welcoming. To deliver a high-quality and popular visitor experience that appeals to a diverse range of audiences within this context.
To support the Events Manager in planning, executing and establishing an annual programme of high impact 'must do' major events that are bold, popular, inclusive, sustainable and truly stand out in the national calendar.
To deliver value to defined audience groups, inviting people to share in the City's unique treasures and providing them with memorable opportunities to experience these through the events programme.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Undertake planning, coordination, production and stakeholder-relations duties for the major events programme.
• Manage internal approval processes, including required applications to Highways, Environmental Health, City Surveyor's and other internal teams.
• Coordinate production logistics, including infrastructure, power, cleansing and security.
• Support the Events Manager by ensuring compliance across licencing, health and safety and other areas; creating, collecting and processing relevant event documents supported by the role (e.g. risk assessment and method statements, public liability insurance certification etc).
• Support the Events Manager to programme and schedule major event content, contributing ideas, assessing timings in relation to the proposed calendar, and advising on logistics.
• Attend all events designated for the role and assume an event/stage manager function as appropriate, responding to any issues as they arise during the event (deferring to the Events Manager where necessary) and ensuring that the highest standards of production and visitor experience are maintained at all times.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure all relevant teams are aware of the events programme, there are no clashes with the wider organisation's events calendar and all relevant information is circulated internally and communicated effectively.
• Be the main point of contact for artists, event producers, production teams, agencies, suppliers and contractors regarding all event specifications and requirements.
• Support the Events Manager so that all events are delivered on time and to budget, updating budgets and records as required.

• Experience required

• Project management qualification or significant experience of managing event-based projects, ideally (but not essentially) within a cultural or tourism context.
• Training (or good level of experience) in compliance, to include licencing, health and safety, crowd management and/or traffic management.
• Experience of managing cultural events, ideally in an outdoor context. .

• The ability to multitask, prioritise and manage multiple events and projects against challenging deadlines.
• Proven event and stage management skills with demonstrable experience of planning and delivering events
• A well-organised and methodical approach to event planning and delivery.
• The ability to think on your feet; to crisis manage and take corrective action at events if required.
• Demonstrable ability to work closely / communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to discuss detailed arrangements for events and form successful working relationships with people at all levels.
• A demonstrable interest in the culture, the creative industries and/or public events.

Working hours: 35 hours p/w (Mon-Fri); occasional evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work at events will be required with TOIL offered in return.

About the role

The role will be central to coordinating our learning and development journey for staff and volunteers. You will be passionate about creating a learning culture and be the first point of contact for learners, organise online and in-person training workshops, and manage our Learning Management System. You will work closely with the People and Culture teams to build an efficient learning and development service and ensure that learners have access to what they need to engage in our learning and development offer. You will also collate evaluation data and create quarterly reports on our training programmes to share our learnings and successes.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, succinct reports and data.
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and with excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
• Experience of supporting learning and development programmes and managing Learner Management Systems such as Moodle.
• Confidence in using Microsoft Excel at a basic or intermediate level
• Able to work effectively within a team, supporting multiple stakeholders including staff, volunteers and managers
• A flexible, solutions-focused and creative approach.
