About the Role

This is an exciting time to join our small and dynamic team and offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of both our volunteer and Membership programmes. You will be passionate about working with people, and responsible for nurturing our existing volunteer and Friends communities. You will be highly organised and self-motivated, and have experience in developing and delivering volunteer programmes. Our volunteers play a vital role at the Museum by enhancing the visitor experience and supporting our programme of activities and events. With an exciting new programme of engagement activities planned, we are keen to attract and support more volunteers to help deliver our vision of connecting cultures through art.

Our Friends also play a key role in supporting the Museum and, with the right strategy in place, there is great potential to build on this loyal base, develop a larger and stronger community of Friends and improve income generation from this programme.

We have well-developed systems and an ethos of collaborative team-working. You will work closely with the team to design and implement a comprehensive training programme for new and existing volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver an exceptional visitor experience. You will work particularly closely with the Retail & Front of House Manager on scheduling a rota of front of house volunteers and ensuring volunteers feel supported in their role at all times.

About the role

This is a hands-on, practical role for someone who can hit the ground running. You’ll be leading the design and delivery of Anti-Racism, Equity and Inclusion (AREI) plans that turn vision into reality — working across directorates to embed change where it matters most.

You’ll work closely with Directors, HR, and a range of stakeholders to build and deliver programmes that support Shelter’s strategic aims. That means helping teams shift from intention to action — shaping and delivering interventions that have a real, measurable impact. From advising on best practice, facilitating workshops and training, to reporting on progress and helping the organisation stay accountable — this is a role with reach and purpose.

Role specifics

An excellent leader and project manager, your career to date will need to include extensive experience of mobilising teams to support the development of measurable initiatives to drive and embed cultural change and inclusion within an organisation. We’ll particularly be looking for a pragmatic and proactive approach, with a history of co-designing and delivering Equity and Inclusion (E&I) initiatives that resonated with an organisation’s core values and were pivotal for driving forward their ambitious goals. A flair for turning concepts into actionable plans is essential too, as are strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation. In short, you’re a strategic thinker with a values centred approach, E&I expertise and proven experience of leading and managing others. You are a confident leader and experienced project manager, with a solid track record of driving cultural and organisational change. You know what it takes to co-design and deliver initiatives that are grounded in an organisation’s values and relevant to its people.

You bring a practical, collaborative approach — and you’re not afraid to challenge, ask the right questions, and get things moving. You’ve led or supported measurable EDI or anti-racism work before, and you understand how to turn strategy into action. You will take a structured yet flexible planning approach, ensuring delivery stays focused while adapting to the realities of a fast-paced environment.

Crucially, you are someone who brings people with you. You can engage and influence at all levels, communicate clearly, and translate complex ideas into achievable plans. You are values-led, focused on impact, and ready to help push this agenda forward in a meaningful way.

We have an excellent opportunity for an Individual Giving Officer to join King’s College Hospital Charity. The money the charity raises helps to fund cutting-edge facilities and equipment as well as pioneering research and treatment. In joining them you are joining a team of passionate and hardworking individuals with an excellent culture.

The Individual Giving Officer role has come about due to growth and investment in the team. You will report into the Individual Giving Manager and will help achieve the income target of £1.3 million. You will be given the opportunity to work across all channels (f2f, telemarketing, direct mail and digital) and income streams (regular giving, lottery, in memory and legacy giving). Tasks will include, day to day admin for campaigns; running a direct mail appeal (with income between £10-20K); copy and content creation; research; invoice processing and complaint handling; speaking to donors; liaising with external agencies; and working on the stewardship journey.

There is a wealth of potential in the fundraising team at King’s College Hospital Charity and there is a lot of opportunity for you achieve new things and help shape the direction and future success of their IG programme.  

To be successful as the Individual Giving Officer, you will need:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Prior experience in Individual Giving or Fundraising would be a plus

We are looking for a new policy adviser who will work primarily in our natural environment to help deliver ambitious leadership for the environment. They may also work on projects for one or more of our other themes.

You will be a strong researcher and confident communicator who can understand the main environmental and political challenges in the UK. As well as understanding the bigger picture, you will have experience of working in policy areas covered by our natural environment theme which are food, farming, land use and nature.

You will work as part of a team that uses political, policy and analytical insights to drive forward UK government policy on food, farming, land use and nature. You will be able to synthesise complex information rapidly, including in areas unfamiliar to you. You will take initiative in using that information to propose policy positions to the team that are sensitive to the wider political context. You will be organised and independent, ensuring outputs and events are executed to a high quality and to deadlines.

Communication skills are important. You will be a skilled writer, capable of turning complex information into easily understandable briefings, reports, and blogs for our audiences. You will have the ability to build relationships with politicians, environmental NGOs, business partners and other stakeholders. You will be comfortable presenting our work to internal and external audiences, helping to secure support for projects and policy proposals.

Green Alliance balances long and short-term projects, as well as being responsive to government agendas and public discourse. This means team members need to be eager to rapidly build knowledge in new policy areas and be willing to learn from colleagues and bring a flexible and dynamic approach to their work.
