Job description

The Opportunity

MLC Partners are delighted to be partnering with a Charity based in Hampton to recruit an Associate People Partner to join their People and Culture team.

Salary: £37,000 - £39,000 per annum

Location: Hampton and Guildford, Surrey

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a purpose-driven organisation, supporting managers and employees across a broad range of people-related matters while contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive working environment.

The Role

Reporting to the People Partner, the successful candidate will provide practical HR advice and support across the organisation, ensuring employment matters are managed effectively and in line with legislation and best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on employment law, policies and procedures.
  • Supporting employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, performance management and sickness absence.
  • Managing HR processes relating to maternity, paternity, flexible working, contractual changes and employee exits.
  • Working closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee changes.
  • Supporting equality, diversity, inclusion and employee wellbeing initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records, HR systems and reporting.
  • Reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Supporting recruitment, retention and wider People and Culture projects.
  • Partnering with managers to promote positive employee relations and effective people management.

The Ideal Candidate

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or part-qualified, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous experience in a generalist HR role, providing advice and support to managers.
  • Experience working within HR in the public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and employee relations processes.
  • Experience managing disciplinary, grievance and absence cases.
  • Confident using HR systems and producing management information.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, approachable and pragmatic approach to resolving HR matters.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a car.

Experience within the charity, healthcare or not-for-profit sector would be advantageous.

Benefits

  • 35 days' annual leave, including bank holidays, increasing with service.
  • Employer pension contributions, with enhanced contribution options.
  • Two weeks' paid sabbatical leave after 5, 10 and 15 years of service.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay.
  • Generous sick pay and death-in-service benefits.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support.
  • Reimbursed professional membership fees.
  • Blue Light discount card and cycle-to-work scheme.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected charity where your work will directly support the people delivering vital care to children and families.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to a broad range of HR responsibilities, work closely with experienced People leaders and contribute to the ongoing development of the People and Culture function.
