You will bring experience of driving commercial business in the cultural or charitable sector, with skills and knowledge of either launching new products or achieving success in breaking into new markets. You’ll have excellent client relationship skills, with experience of converting interest into sales and may have found success in brokering lucrative corporate relationships in a non-profit setting.  

You’ll have a strategic approach to sales with experience of achieving targets and will be skilled in monitoring and analysing finances to develop concise reporting and sales projections.

You will be pivotal in securing new business for Clean Break’s training and hires offers, delivering strategic marketing plans and driving lucrative relationships with cultural organisations and businesses.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Partnerships Manager to join our team.  This is an exciting opportunity to join our Business Development Team and make a significant contribution to delivery of the charity’s high quality services to children and young people, providing them with opportunities and inspiration to enable them to achieve their potential, create a positive future for themselves and open doors to their success.

2. Researching funding opportunities, competitors and market trends.

3. Developing and maintaining an annual calendar of community fundraising activities.

4. Identifying new business development opportunities and developing a pipeline of opportunities and proposals.

5. Management and growth of Inspire's entry to mid-level corporate partnerships.

6. Working with delivery team colleagues to ensure funders’ reports are completed on time and to a high standard.

We are looking for an exceptional Centre Manager to help us ensure that everyone who works in and visits our Centre is well looked after and has a fantastic experience. 

The role is based at our beautiful Grade 2 listed building in Southwark. We will consider either a full-time application for a period of maternity cover, or a part-time job share of the role, with the potential to extend beyond the initial period of maternity cover. Our Centre houses an amazing collection of 25,000 children’s books as well as being a training and event centre for teachers, publishers and everyone else who works with children’s literature and cares about children’s literacy.

This is an extremely interesting and varied job. In one week you could be doing any number of things from ensuring our teachers can access the right equipment for their training, to planning a book launch with our librarian, welcoming our trustees to a meeting, scoping and overseeing maintenance works around our building, or looking after a famous children’s author.

Reporting to our Director of Finance and Operations (DFO), our Centre Manager will:

• Ensure efficient processes and quality facilities are in place to support the daily operations of our staff, our visitors and other organisations that share our building
• Maintain the building to ensure that the Centre can function as a public space that looks great, and is secure and safe
• Be a welcoming and generous host for visitors to our Charity and for event hires at the Centre
• Support the DFO in maintaining HR systems and processes that adhere to best practice
• Ensure our staff have the tools available to do their best work by overseeing the outsourced IT support company and maintaining our IT systems and assets.

The person we are looking for will have:

• amazing organisational skills and the ability to work and manage others under pressure

• the ability to liaise and communicate effectively with a wide range of people within and outside of the organisation

Usual hours are within 9am to 5pm but the post requires occasional out-of-office hours and flexible working in order to fulfil event commitments. The Centre Manager is the first point of contact for any building issues that occur out of hours, supported by our security and external keyholder companies.

A generous holiday allowance is provided - 30 days a year for a full time position (rising to 35 after 5 years service) plus Bank Holidays and closure between Christmas and New Year.

We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team. The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support, with a focus on trusts and foundations and a willingness to explore other sources such as individuals, corporations, community and other donors. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a highly effective frontline charity supporting migrant women and pre-school children living in temporary or insecure accommodation across London.

Fundraising Manager – Job Description

Contract: 3 days a week

Location: Hybrid/home-based with at least half a day a week on site in Newham.

Reports to: Finance and Operations Mananger

Salary: £30-32k pro rata’d to 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve annual income targets in alignment with organisational goals.

· Work with the COO to develop long-term income forecasts to support organisational
plans.

· Identify new fundraising opportunities across all donor groups and develop innovative approaches to diversify income streams.

· Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals to trusts, foundations, and other grant-making entities.

· Ensure timely and accurate reporting to grantors to fulfil grant requirements and maintain compliance.

· Support the organisation in the use accurate and relevant monitoring and evaluation data and individual stories, for the purposes of reporting and building a compelling case for support.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors at all levels (trusts and foundations, corporate partners, community organisations, etc), ensuring a positive donor experience and long-term support.

· Identify and secure new relationships with partners including corporate entities and community groups, to support our mission and objectives.

· Collaborate with colleagues to identify funding needs and develop compelling grant proposals and reports.

· Ensure transparency and accountability in financial management and ensure that spending is in line with grant conditions.

Person Specification

· Experience of trust and foundations fundraising in a charity is essential. Additional experience of other forms of fundraising is a bonus.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling fundraising proposals and reports.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with stakeholders including donors, volunteers, and partners.

· Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies and plans.

· Experience using Salesforce is a bonus.

· Commitment to The Magpie Project’s mission and values, with a passion for fundraising as a tool for creating social impact.

Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including TEAMS, Outlook, Xcel, Word, Sharepoint.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing sound, motivating leadership and creating a work atmosphere where our dedicated, talented team can thrive. You will be responsible for leading on delivering the charity's services, which includes managing and overseeing projects, policies and procedures within the organisation. 

You will be working as part of a growing, busy, collaborative and motivated team and be able to adapt well to changing priorities. You will have oversight of a team of 10-12 people including contracted staff, volunteers and directly manage 3-5 members of the team.

You will work alongside the CEO, staff team, trustees and charity accountant in ensuring strong financial management of all projects.  You will report to the CEO and Board of Trustees, attend quarterly board meetings and produce regular reports on the activities and outcomes to stakeholders.

The role will also involve evaluating the organisation’s processes and ensuring they are efficient and accessible, as well as ensuring we meet our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This will inform operational development and future strategies.

Essential Criteria 

• An understanding of autism and experience working with autistic adults without a learning disability
• Strong understanding of the duties of statutory services and key legislation that underpins the rights of autistic people
• Knowledge and practice of relevant legislation – Autism Act 2009 and National Strategy, Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Equalities Act 2010, GDPR 2018
• Experience developing and optimising support services for disabled people 
• An understanding of the third sector and health and social care landscape in London
• Proven track record in an operational, managerial role within the third sector
• A strong leader and manager, with proven experience mentoring a staff and volunteer team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities, and driving towards excellent outcomes
• Experience leading the delivery of high-quality services for charity beneficiaries

• Defining and delivering organisational goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational efficiency
• Ability to plan and manage budgets and contribute to decisions on the allocation of resources
• Developing infrastructure- policies, procedures, and processes within the developing service provision

• Provide strategic vision and leadership for the operations team, setting overall goals and objectives for team members 
• Ensure robust implementation and efficiency within the agreed processes in conjunction with the operations team
