Job description

Our client, a leading London University are currently looking to recruit a temporary Appeals, Complaints and Conduct Officer on a full-time basis (35 hours per week). Looking to start as soon as possible and running for 1 month in the first instance, the post will be hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week on site and the remainder remote.

Key responsibilities for this post will include:

  • Providing clear, tactful, and professional communication for staff and students involved in the appeals processes.
  • Supporting in investigation and bringing cases to resolution in line with the university’s regulations and processes.
  • Proactively contributing to the student experience and monitoring data and reporting trends in student casework.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and training to stakeholders, promoting best practice when handling appeals, complaints, and conduct matters.
  • Preparing investigatory reports, assessing detailed information and evidence.
  • Engaging with various stakeholders on continual improvement to procedures and policies.

To be considered for this post, you will have:

  • Experience in a similar role, from within a Higher Education setting.
  • Experience in leading complex investigations, conducting interviews, analysing information, and preparing reports, transferable experience will be considered from other areas of higher education.
  • Confident IT proficiency, including using Excel and mail-merging.
  • Experience managing a varied caseload and independently prioritising tasks.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, GDPR and data protection standards.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with sensitivity and tact.
  • Previous experience in line managing, or mentoring and training new team members, if you have not directly line managed previously.
