• Have several years’ experience in the design, analysis and interpretation of observational studies evidenced through reports, peer reviewed publications and presentations at professional meetings. 
• Be a competent and experienced line manager or supervisor of analytical colleagues.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to present complex information to broad audiences in an accessible way. 
• Be able to work independently and as part of team, working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

The role:
This is a key role at the organisation which will help bolster the capacity of our Grants Team. Reporting to the Head of Grants, the main purpose of the role will be to contribute to the smooth and efficient running of our grant-making activities.

The person:
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in grant-making in the charity sector, ideally having worked for a Trust, Foundation or Grant-making organisation which supports charities in the UK which strive to improve people’s lives.  This will have included experience of carrying out due diligence/charity analysis, grant monitoring, making funding recommendations and managing relationships with young people and stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds. Exposure to youth mental health or a related field will be useful but not essential for the role.

This person will have exceptional levels of emotional maturity, discretion and diplomacy and will be an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing. An outstanding administrator with proven IT skills including MS Office, video conferencing and databases, this person will also have a keen eye for detail, the ability to multi-task and to plan ahead and to prioritise effectively. Whilst being able to process quite complex information easily, this person will be able to communicate simply and positively and will have a “can do” approach to their work. Experience of guiding and advising grant applicants will be important in addition to being responsive to others’ needs whilst being flexible and adaptable in a constantly evolving environment.

About the role:

You are able to work a hybrid with 3 days working from the office in Southampton and 2 days working from home.

As a Caseworker you will:

• Make calls to offer support to victims of crime, delivering immediate support.
• Develop, deliver and monitor safety and support plans for those affected by crime who accept ongoing support, which will include providing resources, interventions, and information to all service users

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To support the flow of legacy income ensuring the smooth, efficient and sensitive handling of gifts received through bequests, wills and estates. The role requires a close attention to detail, accurate record keeping, and good numeracy. Appropriate and sensitive written and oral communication with families, legacy supporters and solicitors is very important.

The role requires compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. In essence, an Assistant Legacy Officer is a vital part of a charity's fundraising efforts, ensuring that legacy gifts are processed efficiently and effectively, maximising their value and impact. Most of all, it is about honouring the wishes of those who support us by way of gifts in their Will.

Although the role of Assistant Legacy Officer sits within the Finance Team, it will also include some elements of legacy fundraising and marketing in collaboration with the Marketing and Fundraising team. This includes promotion of our free Will service and supporting promotion of legacy giving through campaigns and events.

• Legacy Administration:  Managing a caseload of legacies (pecuniary, specific, etc.), ensuring the organisation receives its full entitlement, and keeping records up-to-date.

• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed records on the organisation's Digbi system, ensuring compliance with regulations and facilitating reporting.

• Collaboration: Working closely with the Senior Legacy officer and with other teams, when necessary, such as Pet Profile, Finance or Marketing teams in relation to legacy giving, legacy fundraising or gifts in wills.

We are now seeking to appoint a Head of Policy Engagement to lead our engagement with policymakers and senior sectoral stakeholders under our four community-led missions and lead our customer support offer. Using your deep understanding of the political and social environment in which our grantholders operate, you will explore the context for new funding initiatives, including potential partnerships, ensuring that we are making the greatest impact possible.   

You will already have well established relationships with Welsh Government Departments, other funders and the voluntary and community sector and you will use this to share learning and insight from our funding, lead consultations and identify opportunities for future collaboration. You will convene both grantholder and stakeholder networks to inform our analysis and ensure that community voice is at the heart of our decision-making. 

Working with our Funding Team you will ensure we provide first class customer support leading our advice service and working closely in support of our outreach work, ensuring an appropriate level of general and targeting applicant and customer support. 

You will be part of a policy and practice network across the Fund, working collaboratively with colleagues across the UK to develop One-Fund approaches to our missions. 

We’re looking for someone who is values-driven, passionate about the Fund’s purpose and deeply committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and environmental responsibility. You will have a strong track record of influencing at a senior level and be able to articulate strategic ambitions clearly and effectively.  You will also have a nuanced understanding of the role of a non-Departmental Public Body in the policy landscape and experience of working collaboratively across organisational boundaries.  As a member of the Wales Leadership Team, you will provide inspiring leadership and strategic direction to the wider team.

FareShare GM redistributed an amazing 1,929 tonnes of surplus food to 306 community groups, supplying 4.6 million meals to those in need in 2023/24.  In June 2025, we distributed 207 tonnes of food or the equivalent of 494,680 meals to our beneficiaries. 

Working with FareShare UK, we help unlock good food from a wide variety of national and local food suppliers, food that otherwise would have gone in the bin.  We support diverse groups including those catering to the elderly, young families, the BAME community, disabled individuals and those facing homelessness or other forms of poverty.

It’s a busy operation with a lot of moving parts: you’ll take ownership for the smooth running of the Allocations office, supervising the safe distribution of surplus food to our Community Food Members by staff and volunteers.  By working closely with the Warehouse team and delivery drivers, you’ll help ensure timely, accurate and food safe compliant deliveries and collections, optimising our income whilst minimising food waste.

To be a success in this role, you’ll need to have experience in a busy office or operational environment, great communication skills, and experience supervising and motivating staff.  You can adapt to regularly changing priorities, are happy to get involved where needed and constantly review daily targets to keep the team on track.  Ideally you’ll have some experience with volunteers (or have volunteering experience yourself), and/or in the not for profit sector working with disadvantaged groups.

We’re looking for confident and influential people who want to be at the heart of their local community looking for an opportunity to have control of creative merchandising within managing a Shelter shop. Do you have experience of managing a team whilst also empowering and motivating individuals? If so, then this could be the role for you at our Ilkley shop.

About you

You will need to be an active team player and be able to demonstrate how you’ve managed and motivated a team previously beyond expectations and experience of providing excellent customer service in a face-to-face role.

Have a good knowledge of recruiting and developing a diverse team and how you have supported and motivated teams to progress and how you would bring these skills into this position.

You will need to have good communication skills to engage with the local community to seek out new opportunities to increase the shops contribution to help further Shelter’s cause. You will develop your own and your teams’ interests in merchandising the shop attracting customers and continually develop yours and your team’s knowledge of Shelter, who we are and what we do.
