Overview
Our client is a well-established charity based in West London, seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join them on a 6-month interim basis. This role will provide expert ER support during a period of increased casework and organisational change, ensuring outcomes are fair, consistent, and aligned with employment legislation and best practice.
You will work closely with managers and the wider HR team, offering pragmatic, confident advice while maintaining the charity's values and people-centred culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end management of complex employee relations casework, including:
- Disciplinary and grievance processes
- Absence management (short- and long-term)
- Performance and capability issues
- Bullying, harassment, and conduct matters
- Advise and coach managers on ER matters, ensuring confidence and consistency in approach
- Draft and review correspondence, investigation reports, outcome letters, and management guidance
- Conduct and/or support formal investigations, including witness interviews and evidence gathering
- Ensure all ER processes comply with employment legislation, internal policies, and best practice
- Support the implementation and review of ER policies and procedures, recommending improvements where appropriate
- Liaise with trade unions or employee representatives as required
- Contribute to a positive employee experience while balancing organisational risk and pragmatism
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in an Employee Relations-focused role, ideally within a charity, public sector, or values-led organisation
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice
- Experience managing high-volume and complex ER cases independently
- Confident communicator, able to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels
- Pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with strong judgement and emotional intelligence
- Ability to hit the ground running in an interim environment
Desirable
- CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working in unionised environments
- Previous interim or contract ER experience
