Title: Fundraising Manager
Responsible to: Director/Head of Operations
Hours: 14 hours per week

BIAS is a leading local Irish charity which has supported England’s largest community in Brent for over 45 years. We deliver our support across London through our welfare advice drop-in service, our active ageing clubs and our Be-a-Friend volunteer scheme. This is an exciting new role in which you will proactively generate and grow fundraising income across all fundraising streams to enable us to continue supporting the most vulnerable members of the Irish community. You will support our fundraising strategy by contributing to digital communications and creative content across all channels, in cooperation with project delivery teams. The role will play a central part in raising awareness and growing supporter engagement through digital campaigns, donor events, individual giving initiatives and the development of relationships with local businesses.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver BIAS’s community fundraising strategy.
- Develop and implement a varied portfolio of events, community fundraising activities and campaigns, all of which reflect the spirit of BIAS.
- Explore marketing opportunities to raise the profile of the charity.
- Ensure relevant processes are in place to deliver successful, profitable community fundraising activities.
- Oversee the management of fundraising systems and platforms in order to create the best possible experience for donors and participants.
- Develop a robust supporter journey for community fundraisers which leaves them with an excellent experience and generates a long-term relationship with BIAS.
To achieve these objectives, the post holder will be expected to:
- Plan, budget, coordinate and attend an annual community fundraising and events calendar with set objectives, budgets and KPIs for each activity.
- Regularly review the performance of fundraising activities/events, making recommendations for improvement.
- Build and maintain a variety of community relationships across varying stakeholders.
- Explore and coordinate fundraising opportunities such as online donation platforms, auction platforms and text-to- donate services.
- Work with colleagues to ensure that all events are adequately supported with staff, volunteers and post-event debriefs.
- Ensure that all events and activities are compliant with the Code of Fundraising Practice, GDPR and internal policies.
This job description reflects the basic duties required of the Fundraising Manager. What we’re looking for…
- Experience of designing and delivering successful community fundraising events, campaigns and activities, preferably with a track record of at least two years.

About The Job:
This is a vital role in delivering our fundraising strategy and goals. The role holder will be responsible for raising income from individuals and legacies and increasing the volume and value of our supporter relationships, engaging new audiences and driving sustainable income growth. We will also trust the role holder to deliver fantastic supporter journeys and supporter experiences and contribute to the overall implementation of the Fundraising Team’s objectives.
Main Areas Of Responsibility:
Income Generation
· Lead on raising income to an agreed target, through acquisition, development and retention of individuals and legacy pledgers, as agreed with the Head of Fundraising and Communications.
Strategy
· Work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to build and deliver a highly effective, sustainable, audience-centred public fundraising and supporter experience plan.
· Engage in market and supporter insight to inform decision-making and development of new activity/products.
· Develop a good understanding of our supporter base, their motivations and behaviours. Use our CRM database (Raisers’ Edge NXT) and data analysis and insights to inform the development of new fundraising campaigns and products.
· Take the lead role in the development of effective supporter journeys, working with the Community Fundraising Team to convert community fundraisers and events participants into regular donors.
· Lead the design and delivery of individual giving campaigns (including the Christmas campaign), using direct mail, digital marketing and advertisements to drive supporter acquisition and retention.
· Develop and design our legacy programme, working with Farewill and local law firms to encourage supporters to include Homeless Oxfordshire in their will.
· Work with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to develop and deliver a mid-level giving programme, driving the major donor pipeline and effectively stewarding donors giving at the £300-£1,000 level.
Operational Delivery
· Be responsible for the setting and managing of budgets, targets and KPIs. Report on progress, trends and take action when required. Analyse results and evaluate activity to inform future plans.
· Act as the lead-user for Raisers’ Edge, supervise the Data Administrator to ensure accurate data entry and reconciliation, and support the team with reporting and data analysis.
· Work collaboratively to ensure that all income generation activity is integrated and opportunities for cross-team working are maximised.
· Develop processes that enhance the team’s capacity, efficiency, and ensure effective fundraising.
· Manage external partners and agencies involved in fundraising delivery, ensuring due diligence, high quality and effectiveness.
· Ensure the highest standard of supporter experience in order to make the most of every interaction.
· Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all areas of the public fundraising portfolio, including the Fundraising Code of Practice, Data Protection and Gift Aid. Model best practice and coach team member as required.
Leadership
· Line manage the Data Administrator, supporting them on reconciliation, data entry and gift processing.
· Provide management information for SMT and the Board of Trustees as requested and attending meetings when required.
· Build positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
· Represent the charity at external meetings as and when required.
· Engage with the wider charity sector, learning from peers and sharing best practice.

SEO
- Develop and implement SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings and drive website traffic.
- Conduct keyword research, on-page optimisation and technical SEO audits.
- Monitor, analyse and report on SEO performance.
Paid Media
- This is a vital and rapidly growing area for the charity, and this role will manage all paid-for digital marketing, including lead generation and acquisition (Meta, Google, etc.).
- Create advertising campaigns and ensure effective tracking, monitoring, improvements, evaluation, and reporting of campaigns.
- Oversee our Google Ads grant (PPC) and (CRO) Google Tag Manager.
- Manage our main Google Ads account and launch Search, Display, and YouTube advertising for our digital-first Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month campaign.
- Deliver detailed advertising reporting using Looker Studio or other similar digital dashboards.
Digital content
- Manage and maintain the content calendar, including planning and scheduling content that aligns to both Pancreatic Cancer Action and project objectives.
- Create and manage the sourcing of high-quality content for blogs, website pages, social media posts, email content and for all other digital channels.
- Write, edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment to Pancreatic Cancer Action’s Text and Brand Guidelines.
- Create engaging design assets for use across all digital channels, including video and animation.
- Responsibility for pixels and unique identifiers for analytics.
Social media
- Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to develop a social media strategy and set goals to increase brand awareness and engagement.

Email marketing

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it’s harming too many lives. At Prostate Cancer UK, one of our top priorities is funding research that leads to real change. It’s vital we do our best to make sure this research makes a meaningful difference to men’s lives, and that’s where you come in.
We’re at an exciting time, with a new strategy coming soon, and so we are looking to grow our Research Funding Team. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Grant Manager to help us deliver our core funding schemes and embark on new, exciting initiatives to fund ground-breaking research that will revolutionise how prostate cancer is diagnosed and treated.
You’ll take responsibility for a portfolio of around a third of our active research grants, providing support and guidance to the researchers leading them. You’ll be a main point of contact for grant applicants, supporting them through the application process and providing them with guidance about remit and eligibility. Using your understanding of research funding and administration, you’ll work with our Senior Research Officers to make sure our funding schemes run smoothly, to time and support our funding Committees in their review of the applications we receive.
What the job involves
It’s crucial that we not only have fair and robust processes to ensure that we fund the very best research, but that we also closely monitor and support the delivery of the resulting projects, to maximise their impact and accelerate the advancements we see through research. Which is why we’re looking to appoint an experienced Grant Manager to join our Research Directorate.
As part of your responsibilities, you’ll manage a portfolio of our active research grants, closely monitoring their progress and finances, and provide valuable support and advice to our grant holders and their teams. You’ll develop a detailed understanding of the science behind these projects and build positive working relationships with the researchers and their institutions. You’ll monitor your portfolio for demonstrable outputs (publications, presentations, intellectual property etc.) and you’ll work closely with colleagues in other teams to help them better understand the research we fund in order to showcase this to our supporters and potential donors.
You’ll support the delivery of our research funding grant schemes, managing at least one of our grant rounds, whilst also supporting our other funding schemes, ensuring that we maintain robust processes and adhere to industry and department standards. You’ll also help direct on our activities to involve people with experience of prostate cancer in research, including their involvement in the assessment of the research proposals we receive, as well as supporting researchers to include patients in the design and delivery of their projects.

Policy Campaigns Officer
A permanent position has arisen as part of the continued growth of our campaigns work within our friendly Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns department. The Policy Campaigns Officer will play a key role in helping the charity deliver high-impact campaigns that mobilise supporters, influence policy, and raise awareness of issues relating to dementia research.
In this role you will support the Campaigns Manager to deliver integrated advocacy campaigns aligned to Alzheimer's Research UK’s strategic objectives. You will contribute to the coordination, development and implementation of activity that connects public mobilisation with policy and government influencing priorities.
You will bring proven experience of working on advocacy or policy-focused campaigns, or in a closely related field where influencing decision makers and engaging the public has been central to your work. You will understand how campaigning activity contributes to political or institutional change and will be confident supporting the delivery of campaign tactics across digital and offline channels.
This role is ideal if you are looking to build on existing advocacy or influencing experience in a collaborative team, contributing to campaigns that aim to deliver measurable policy impact.

Being successful in building effective relationships, self-motivated with the ability to manage a wide range of tasks under pressure and committed to making a difference is essential.
Previous experience of working in a cancer or healthcare charity, talking to bereaved and vulnerable supporters and using Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM system would be an advantage but not essential.
About the role
The Legacy & In Memory Giving Fundraiser will help support and deliver the Legacy and In Memory Giving fundraising strategy. You will have compassionate communication skills, especially when talking to supporters who are recently bereaved and you will develop and deliver outstanding stewardship programmes that offer support and drive retention.
This role requires using data and insight to help deliver the Legacy marketing programme, whilst also supporting the day-to-day Legacy and estate administration, dealing with solicitors, legal representatives and executors. You will proactively develop In Memory Giving fundraising, maximising the fundraising products, channels and messaging already available, as well as identifying new opportunities that are suitable for the Legacy & In Memory audience.
The role will also include working with colleagues, maximising cross team collaboration and ensuring appropriate Legacy and In Memory stewardship across all fundraising specialisms.
