What the job involves

As Communications Planning Manager you’ll be reviewing all incoming internal communications briefs, ensuring they have clear objectives, audiences, and timelines, and are aligned to organisational priorities and goals. You’ll be responsible for leading as well as updating, when necessary, our briefing and communications team process.

You’ll be responsible for workflows across the communications directorate, having oversight of capacity, prioritising and scheduling work accordingly. You’ll support annual business and resource planning; helping the organisation prioritise and understand the potential impact vs effort in business decisions.

To ensure our teams can work at their optimum we’re currently updating our approach to communications processes, including updating our project management tools, prioritisation structure and our wider programme management office.

What we want from you

To be successful in the role you’ll need to have exceptional organisational skills and be a strategic thinker who thrives on implementing and driving new processes to deliver efficiency.

You’ll have demonstrable experience with stakeholder and relationship management – building rapport at all levels, managing conflicting priorities and ensuring effective use of resources. In reviewing briefs you’ll be comfortable in challenging the details provided and developing briefs with product owners to ensure resources are being used effectively.

A background in marketing communications or similar would be ideal for understanding the needs from the start in developing effective campaigns. Experience in using workflow tools (like Trello) or Agile methodologies will be desirable but not essential.

The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will work as part of the wider team to help develop our supporter base, increase engagement with the charity, and increase our fundraising efforts using a variety of marketing, research, storytelling, and communications tools.

You will have excellent written skills to help share the stories behind the people and the charity, with responsibility for managing our social media output, sharing stories across traditional and online media, and the charity’s own digital platforms.

You will work with the wider team, as well as our supporters and volunteers to help increase awareness of, and engagement with, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund’s charitable work, including internal projects and external grant making.

You will assist with the creation of design work using Canva and other platforms to deliver general promotional flyers and materials for events adhering to brand guidelines and assist with the general promotion of LD events and fundraising initiatives.

You will work with both the internal team and external agencies to deliver content while operating within the ethos and values of the charity.

 You will be self-managing, motivated, have excellent interpersonal skills and be computer savvy!

This is a permanent role for 22.5 hours per week (0.6FTE). There will be work out of office hours where TOIL will be occurred.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a lively, dynamic and driven fundraising events team. Over the last decade, Breast Cancer Now has built up a strong events function community fundraising and events currently accounting for nearly a quarter of the charity’s overall voluntary income.

Sobell House is a hospice based in Oxford. It is jointly funded by the NHS and Sobell House Hospice Charity. The hospice offers specialist palliative care to those facing life threatening illness, death and bereavement in Oxfordshire.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Charity Fundraising Team in a newly formed role. We are looking for an individual with a passion for making a difference and who thrives on building long-term, multi-faceted relationships.

You will be responsible for the delivery and growth of our philanthropy and corporate fundraising programmes, building significant donor relationships including creating, developing and implementing a portfolio of donor cultivation, stewardship and touchpoints.

Your role will highlight the vital work Sobell House does, and raise vital income for Sobell House.

Overall Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Work proactively to deliver and maximise philanthropic and corporate relationships and delivery of income targets
• Secure long-term, sustainable income from High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and Corporate Partners to meet fundraising targets
• Work with the Director of Fundraising and Fundraising Management Team to build and grow a donor pipeline by identifying potential prospects and connecting networks
• Diversify the Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy income streams by developing a suite of opportunities for income generation including; multi-year donations, sponsorship, Gifts in Kind, Charity of the Year, Sobell Business Club and payroll giving as well as stocks and shares
• Build, manage and maintain a portfolio of HNWI and Corporate events
• Steward relationships to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term financial commitment, including detailed and timely reporting
• Manage effective and collaborative relationships with colleagues across Sobell House to support prospect cultivation and donor stewardship
• Review and develop strategic plans with the Director of Fundraising and Relationship Fundraising Manager to ensure growth and sustainability
• Manage and maintain donor records and plans on our CRM, Donorfy.
• Develop and maintain stewardship plans to ensure successful development of prospects

Salary: £32,853

Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia and Alzheimer’s disease research charity, is seeking a Head of Philanthropy to lead the organisation’s work with their philanthropy audiences including major donors, trusts and foundations.

Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) works to encourage debate, drive collaboration, and build partnerships across academia and industry that increase the probability of transforming discoveries from the lab bench into treatments for people living with dementia. Since funding their first project in 1998, the charity has now committed over £171 million of funding for ground-breaking dementia research.
As part of the ARUK Leadership Team, the Head of Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in leading the charity to accelerate progress towards a cure. Working closely with the senior stakeholders across ARUK, the post-holder will lead the organisation’s philanthropy work by defining and implementing the team’s strategy and ensuring that these plans support the charity’s vision, mission and strategic objectives. 
The Head of Philanthropy will lead a team of approximately 8-10 people. The role holder will also personally lead on relationships with a small group of ARUK’s most generous supporters, and prospective supporters, across Philanthropy audiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a philanthropy team to deliver significant income growth, as well as demonstrable knowledge and experience of major gift fundraising. They will have a background in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and a proven track record in establishing, monitoring, and achieving ambitious fundraising targets.

Alongside excellent communication and planning skills, they will be highly motivated and target driven as well as being a strong team player who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. They will also possess strong negotiation, influencing and decision-making skills, with an ability to present arguments logically and confident and to inspire confidence and respect at all levels.

This is a fantastic role working to support world-leading research into dementia across the UK and beyond and with a team of passionate and driven employees.

MSA Trust is a UK and Ireland-wide charity, supporting people with a life-limiting rare neurodegenerative disease. It has home based staff around the UK and a small office in central London. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the CEO and senior team to undertake their roles.

Working arrangements

This is a home-based role with some travel (approximately 2-3 trips per month) to meet with partners, prospects, and Community Fundraising teams across Scotland, North West and North East of England. In addition, there will be occasional travel to Northern Ireland and Wales. You’ll be reimbursed for all reasonable travel expenses.

As this is a regional role and given the current pipeline of opportunities, we are looking for candidates who live in the North East or North West of England, or Scotland.

On occasion, you may also be required to work flexibly to support evening and weekend activity. Where this is the case, you will be compensated for this with time off in lieu.

About you

As our perfect candidate, you bring end-to-end experience of identifying a partnership opportunity, taking the prospect through the sales cycle, and securing the corporate partnership. You have demonstrable experience in thinking commercially and winning high value opportunities. 

With excellent communication, networking, influencing, and relationship building skills, you have proven experience of working with others to secure significant bids, sharing skills and experiences with those around you.

A results-oriented go-getter, you are always willing to pick up the phone and reach out to cold prospects and have a demonstrable track record of building and writing partnership proposals and delivering presentations to board-level decision makers.

Integral to coming into this role is your experience in winning new business, whether it’s from working for a charity in corporate partnerships or in the private sector in a sales role.   

A strategic thinker, you’ll be brimming with innovative and creative ways to win new business. You'll also be confident in presenting to internal and external stakeholders at all levels and have experience of developing CRM/product promotion and sponsorship partnerships.

You can work under your own initiative from a home base while still contributing positively to the regional teams.

It is desirable (although not essential) for you to have a full UK driving licence and access to a car.

We are looking for a Philanthropy Executive to join our small, yet dynamic and passionate philanthropy team. In this role, you’ll raise income from major donors, trusts, foundations, and corporate supporters, as well as supporting broader team efforts. Key responsibilities include identifying, engaging, and stewarding potential and existing donors, developing proposals and impact reports, and managing a portfolio of donors. You will also lead the annual Christmas mailing and expand the Summer mailing to increase support from mid-level donors and new trusts and foundations. You’ll be responsible for achieving your own income targets and objectives, ensure compliance with fundraising best practices, and report on milestones and KPIs. Ideal candidates will be thoughtful, driven, and passionate about amplifying fundraising efforts and celebrating the charity's impact.

Our Philanthropy Lead will join an established Major Gifts team, who collectively raise in excess of £5m+ a year. We are looking for a visionary, dynamic, entrepreneurial and empathetic leader who is excited to work closely with the Parkinson’s community to secure vital donations towards our strategic priorities - including our multi-year Parkinson’s UK Nurse Appeal, ground-breaking Parkinson’s research and the Virtual Biotech, our international drug discovery programme. 

Maximising the value and contribution of our supporters is fundamental to Parkinson’s UK delivering the impact we want to see for people affected by Parkinson's. Building networks, understanding what motivates our supporters, and aligning our programmes to their philanthropic interests is key to our growth plans for Major Gifts.

This role will lead, influence and embed the major donor strategy and line manage a high performing team. You will deliver your own prospect/donor cultivation activity and generate new leads through working with senior volunteers.  You will work with colleagues and leaders across the charity to identify prospects and opportunities to give at a transformational level. You will present and inspire philanthropic support for our work including our information and support services and our Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech drug development programme which is leading the way in driving forward new pioneering treatments. 

You’ll contribute to a step-change in the charity’s income, particularly in soliciting gifts from new supporters. Now is an exciting time for Parkinson’s UK as we accelerate our ‘Transforming Parkinson’s Together’ strategy and we drive forward our growth ambitions within major gifts. 

What you’ll do:

• Lead the Philanthropy team to deliver our ambitious multi-year income targets 

• Build on the team’s existing strategy, working closely with the Head on the overall strategic direction

• Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with your pipeline of donors and prospects (focused on £100k+ gifts)

• Collaborate with colleagues to build the £1m+ transformational gift pipeline

• Oversee, support and coach the Philanthropy team with their prospect/donor cultivation and stewardship activity 

What you’ll bring:

• Extensive experience of successful major donor fundraising, with a track record of securing five and six figure gifts through making verbal and written asks

• The ability to proactively identify, qualify and generate new prospects to help grow the team’s pipelines 

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, coach, motivate and inspire a high performing team 

• Excellent relationship building and communication skills

• Experience of delivering activity with fundraising boards/senior volunteers

This is a great opportunity to join Parkinson’s UK as a Special Events Lead, based within an established Major Gifts and Special Events team who collectively raise £5m+ a year. 

As Special Events Lead, you will play an important role in shaping our UK wide portfolio of high value prospecting and stewardship events, as well as a range of special events for a range of diverse audiences.  These include inspiring events about our research, gala events, comedy nights, catwalks and much more!

We are looking for a special events expert, with experience of leading a team to deliver exceptional events and experience with the view to cultivate and deepen engagement with prospects and existing supporters with a view to maximise income opportunities.

An innovative, creative approach is desired with the ability to provide consultancy and work collaboratively across the charity. 

What you’ll do:

• Develop and deliver the Special Events strategy focused on driving engagement, maximising income and delivering against varied KPI’s

• Lead a team to provide exceptional event project management, working within an agile framework

• Review all event activity and make recommendations for improving and developing future activity 

• Build long lasting, trusted relationships with key supporters and committees to devise and promote events- maximising networks, engagement opportunities, long-term giving and support 

• Share skills, best practice and experiences of events fundraising, donor stewardship, and cultivation - providing consultancy across the organisation as required

What you’ll bring:

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and coach a team

• Demonstrable experience of successfully innovating and delivering a high value events portfolio 

• An understanding of stewardship and supporter/partnership engagement

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including networking and theconfidence and ability to influence and negotiate with senior staff,  senior fundraising volunteers and with established and new committees

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the market, legislation and best practice affecting events and cultivation

We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Officer preferably from the North of England to join the fundraising team at the Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA).

The BDFA is the only patient organisation in the UK for families affected by Batten disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition that affects children and young adults. The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation, which has grown to offer additional support services for families affected by Batten disease and to implementing a long-term strategy to develop its advocacy, education and research capabilities. We’re looking for an individual who has the experience and skills to manage and nurture relationships with our existing funders from charitable trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies, ensuring they feel inspired by our work and the patients and families we support.

The role will incorporate managing a sizeable portfolio of Trusts and Foundations through excellent stewardship, and to build on this strong foundation, developing and submitting winning funding proposals to create a high-quality pipeline of new funding opportunities. The successful candidate will work as part of the Fundraising team, under the guidance of our Chief Executive Officer to continue our strategy to diversify income through this key funding stream.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

- Experience and a proven track record of successful Trusts and Foundations income generation.

- Demonstratable experience in researching potential Trust funders, submitting compelling proposals, securing funding and project managing successful bids through to completion of the grant award.

- A background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders and individual/major donors.

- Experience of providing excellent supporter care and building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders.

- Experience of targeting large grant-making bodies and securing 5-6 figure grants

- Expert knowledge of fundraising landscape, particularly Trusts & Foundations.

This job requires a motivated individual who has a passion for all those within our Batten community and a strong desire to support the development and financial growth of the BDFA. The role is full time (35 hours per week) and is home based with occasional travel to Yorkshire (where the CEO is based) and around the UK to meet donors and support fundraising events.
