Development Director

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

The Development Director will be a key part of the Action4Youth Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic development of the whole organisation and taking responsibility for the leadership and management of all aspects of business development, sales, fundraising, marketing and communications.

The Development Director will ensure development to support the Strategic and Operational Plans in order to achieve growth, sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e.  programme delivery and outdoor education.

Because Action4Youth is a relatively small organisation, teams are small and this means that even senior members of the team like Directors may have to cover for a team member when on leave or generally help out as necessary to achieve targets. In this particular role, that could mean undertaking basic tasks like completing a funding bid to meet a deadline, updating a webpage, writing blog posts or handling sales calls. This job is unusual in genuinely being both strategic and hands on.

Networking is an important part of this role so the post holder will often be expected to attend out of hours events to represent Action4Youth and to develop valuable relationships and connections.

•  Developing and implementing ambitious strategies for fundraising, marketing and sales to increase     income, support and growth
• The line management of the Marketing, Fundraising and Sales teams, ensuring achievable but stretching targets are set and met
• Creating captivating marketing campaigns and activity to promote all areas of Action4Youth’s work and to support sales and fundraising activity
•  Managing external supply contracts for design, print, website and all communications
•  Developing and managing the fundraising, marketing and sales budgets

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Development/Sales

• To identify opportunities for the growth of Action4Youth through sales, contracts or fundraising
• To increase sales of The Caldecotte Xperience
• To increase awareness and sales of The Inspiration Programme, The Breakout Programme and other A4Y programmes and offerings
• To identify and secure appropriate new contracts in line with the strategy and business plan
• To monitor and evaluate business development success

Fundraising

• Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to take account of economic conditions and to meet the needs of Action4Youth.
• To meet fundraising targets for both the fundraising team and personally
• To be responsible for building strong relationships with fundraising bodies and partner agencies.
• To ensure reports to funders meet requirements
• Monitor and evaluate the fundraising mix
• Achieve targets as set out in KPIs

Marketing and Communication

• To be Action4Youth’s brand guardian, protecting and extending the organisation’s reputation and profile
• To initiate and manage a communications and marketing strategy which supports and enhances Action4Youth’s profile, sales and fundraising
• Oversee the development of all communications in line with the strategy including the website, PR, social and print media
• To lead on Action4Youth’s aim to be a voice for and of young people, developing a significant platform in a wide variety of fora.

Leadership

• To be a key part of Action4Youth’s leadership team
• To be responsible for the recruitment, training and appraisal of the development, fundraising and marketing teams

General Responsibilities

•  To attend, where appropriate, local, regional and national meetings
•  Support the continued development of quality standards as specified by Action4Youth.
• ·To have regard for the vision of Action4Youth and to display a commitment to equal opportunities and to the   protection and safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
•  Report any behaviour, conversations or comments which are inappropriate within a setting for children and young people.
•  To carry out any other Action4Youth duties as required by your Line Manager, CEO or Directors.
•  Administering own workload which includes meeting targets and deadlines in line with the Action4Youth   Performance Management System.
•  Attending relevant CPD training events in line with Performance Management appraisal.
•  Undertaking responsibility, as part of the team, for all Health and Safety work related matters.
•  Working within the guidelines of Action4Youth policies and procedures.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

• Business development experience to include bid writing, fundraising and contract management
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
• Proven experience of managing a staff team and motivating and developing the team over at least 5 years
• Proven record of achievement in a senior position
• Demonstrable financial management skills including budgeting and delivery of cost and income targets
• Highly organised, hard working and personally effective
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of marketing and communications channels
• Excellent IT skills and experience of using a CRM system ideally Salesforce
• Knowledge of the voluntary sector
• Educated to degree level or have relevant business related qualifications

• Fundraising skills and experience in all areas of fundraising, especially in corporate and individual giving.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the role will manage and motivate the Treasury team ensuring that it runs as an efficient and effective service whilst fulfilling internal and external customer requirements.

Key to the role is managing the Association’s portfolio of over £850m of bank loans and capital borrowings, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date records are maintained, and excellent relationships are preserved with our banking and institutional investor partners.

The Head of Treasury is also responsible for creating and maintaining the long-term financial business plan for the Association and producing detailed sensitivity analysis and multi-variant stress-testing.

About you

You will be a subject matter expert and will drive continuous improvement in the efficiency, security and control of daily treasury and business planning activities.

Holding a professional accountancy qualification, (eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and ideally a treasury qualification (eg MCT, ACT) you will:

• Be proactive with the ability to work to a general brief with minimal supervision
• Have excellent financial analytical and treasury skills
• Have experience of managing a loan portfolio in excess of £500m
• Have experience of negotiating and managing loan agreements with banks
• Have experience of arranging borrowings from institutional investors through the capital markets
• Have the ability and experience to develop and maintain appropriate treasury systems procedures and internal financial controls
• Have experience of building and maintaining complex business plan models
• Be a great leader and able to manage and motivate staff to achieve high standards of performance

About the Role

The aim of Advice Service Supervisor is to maintain a consistent quality of advice and help for clients by providing support, guidance and feedback on a day to day basis. There are 4 main areas:

• ensuring quality - actively supporting the quality of advice by guiding the team to information sources, checking that all aspects of a client's situation have been considered, checking that follow up work is progressed, and that research and campaigns issues are identified

• providing support - actively supporting each team member to develop their skills and competences, by explaining, guiding, demonstrating, encouraging, suggesting, coaching, giving constructive feedback 

• challenging appropriately - adapting the level of support to individual competence and need, and taking account of the team as a whole

Requirements

1. A minimum of 12 months experience of advice work in a Citizens Advice setting or similar quality assured environment.

3. Ability to monitor and maintain Quality of Advice standards including checking accuracy of advice and benefit calculations.
4. Good understanding of safeguarding principles and willingness to adhere to them
5. Experience of using ICT systems and packages, and electronic resources in the provision of advice, record keeping and document production.
6. Ability to work on own initiative and be flexible to business need.
7. Demonstrable understanding of the issues affecting society and their implications for Citizens Advice clients and service provision.

Qualifications and experience

About the role

In this role you’ll contribute to the operational delivery of innovative health partnerships for BHF. These partnerships help us to reach, on a mass scale, people at risk or living with heart and circulatory diseases; working with large corporate organisations, other charities, and community groups to provide information, support and skills in innovative ways to improve health awareness, support self-management and reduce health inequalities.

As part of the Health Partnerships team, you’ll support several health partners, delivering agreed activity and maximising the opportunity to reach their workforce and customers with our free health initiatives.

You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across BHF particularly in our Medical and Marketing, Fundraising and Engagement teams, as well as external partners to meet agreed aims and objectives. Working arrangements

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

About you

RESPONSIBLE TO: YOUTH AND COMMUNITY TEAM LEAD

SALARY: £28,000 - £32,000 PER ANNUM

Enact have a vacancy for a Senior Youth and Community Worker to lead our open-access community youth provision.  We are looking for an experienced youth practitioner to manage our youth team and work within the enact team to develop a range of engaging activities and training opportunities for young people with particular focus on those aged 10 to 19 in the Enfield community. 

The Senior Youth and Community Worker needs to be a passionate, enthusiastic and professional. They will lead the youth team to create community-based opportunities for the whole family, in accordance with the ethos and values of Oasis. The Senior Youth worker will also support the enact team to develop and be involved in community cohesion projects involving children, families and youth.

Enact actively encourages continued professional development and opportunities for further education for all its staff.
