ABOUT THIS ROLE

In the past five years of running our Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program, we have found that the best predictor of which incubated charities will end up causing the highest impact is the quality of the co-founding team. As we scale up, one of our biggest bottlenecks is identifying highly talented, value-aligned people out of the thousands of candidates from all over the world who apply to our programs. The difference in outcomes between a bad and a good hire can be huge, but this variation is even more extreme when it comes to co-founders. The initial staff of an organization set the pace, tone, and culture for the long-term. We estimate the impact of each average alumna/alumnus of our Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program to be equivalent to donating $200,000-350,000 USD / year to effective charities. Finding 20-30 of these gems each year is difficult but is incredibly impactful. As such, the Recruitment Manager is one of the most important roles we are hiring for. 

The Recruitment Manager will focus on:

• Vetting multi-stage application processes (application forms, test tasks, interviews and psychometrics)

• Improving and adjusting our processes (e.g. coming up with predictive interview questions for new job roles; improving existing questions and tasks on the basis of data collected)

• Developing and formalizing a deep understanding of what traits, motivations, and personality types will be successful in different kinds of career paths and roles

• (if interested and a strong fit) Working with our outreach team to develop and execute marketing strategies that speak to the right people, inform them about our supported career paths, and help them apply

• (if interested and a strong fit) Managing or co-managing the recruitment team

The kinds of tasks involved in this look something like this:

• Evaluating hundreds of application forms and test tasks to figure out which are the most promising, using a wide range of information, formal and informal clues, and heuristics

• Evaluating and conducting candidate interviews to help identify and select the most promising candidates to join our programs

• Formalizing informal hiring heuristics into rubrics and learning algorithms (no programming required)

• Project managing each application round to ensure each candidate gets useful, timely, and relevant test tasks and information on next steps

• Analyzing historical data to pull out findings for future rounds (here’s an older public example)

• Conducting interviews with successful applicants to create feedback loops for improving our processes

• Automating aspects of the process to increase scalability and reduce staff time

• Conducting interviews with experts in vetting and hiring to determine cross-applicable lessons that we can apply

• Building models and character profiles of ideal candidates and talking to alumni from our programs to refine and improve these

• Running analysis and back correlations on historically successful founders to identify traits that may define the most promising applicants

What We Need

We expect excellent candidates will meet many (but not all) of the criteria below. We are looking for high general ability, strong work ethic, and value/methods-aligned mindset more than prior work experience or a specific background.

• Able to move to and work from our London office at least 2 days per week (exceptions may be made for excellent applicants who do not meet this criterion)

• Able to work flexibly and collaboratively in a small team and have a positive influence on the teams they work in and around

• Results-oriented, with a consequentialist mindset, and a love of high levels of intellectual challenge 

• Comfortable with prioritization, numerical quantification, and simple spreadsheet calculations - or excited to learn these

• Able to work both autonomously and in a small team

• Excited to work in this role and feels as though it could be a great fit

• Interested in growing at and with AIM long-term

Bonus Criteria

• Background in fast moving and/or quantitative workplaces (e.g. tech startups, consulting, finance)

The Head of Safeguarding is a senior role responsible for the overall management, development, and strategic direction of the Safeguarding Department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals within the Diocese. The Head of Safeguarding will lead a team, drive strategic initiatives, oversee policies and procedures, and collaborate with stakeholders to create a culture of safeguarding excellence. Homeless Link is the national membership charity for frontline homelessness agencies and the wider housing with health, care and support sector in England. With more than 800 members, we work to improve services and campaign for policy change that will help end homelessness and ensure that everyone has a place to call home and the support they need to keep it.

Fundraising Events and Challenges Lead

This role is offered on a hybrid contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home three days a week.

Purpose of job:

The Fundraising Event and Challenges Lead is responsible for overseeing the fundraising events portfolio, developing and driving the strategy, and leading the delivery of a wide-ranging events and challenges portfolio to deliver ambitious organisational objectives and fundraising growth targets. This includes high-profile celebrity sporting and non-sporting challenge events alongside special events and mass-engagement events.

Key responsibilities:

· Leads the strategy setting and annual planning and budget setting for Comic Relief’s events, including building financial models, developing business cases and strategic plans.

· Lead the operational planning and implementation of fundraising events from ideation, through development and delivery, ensuring an agile approach to changing circumstances and to manage risk and maximise income opportunities.

· Manage and coach the events co-ordinator to support and deliver operational and fundraising activity across the portfolio to deliver against agreed plans and objectives.

· As appropriate, lead or work as part of cross-organisational matrix project teams to deliver all event fundraising elements including developing coherent narrative, fundraising marketing activity, supporter journeys and income/performance tracking and management.

· Lead and manage project teams of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure all aspects of fundraising events are delivered effectively and successfully to deliver income targets.

· Procure and manage the day-to-day relationship with external delivery partners to ensure safe and successful development and delivery of events; this could include events logistic delivery partners, integration of external media broadcast outlets or television production companies.

· Operate as a champion of fundraising events within the wider organisation proactively identifying, sourcing and helping to embed new ways of working, tools and approaches that drive and optimise income from fundraising events across an array of target audiences.

· Foster a culture of high performance and build organisational event fundraising expertise. Work across the organisation to ensure each challenge/event is audience focused and all opportunities to maximise income are explored through a test, learn and iterate approach where data, learning and insight is used to make informed decisions and actioned swiftly. People Management

· Provide balanced, constructive feedback, undertake effective performance management to embed accountability and proactively support the professional development and growth of staff.

TEAM MANAGER – Social Care

We are looking for a social work qualified experienced people manager to take responsibility for operational management and development of our social work services.

You will ensure that effective services are delivered to children and young people with cancer and their families through the professional supervision of our staff group, working across split sites.

You will have:

• You must hold an appropriate social work qualification.
• Extensive experience of working with children and young people including complex case work and risk assessment and care planning, caseload management and interagency working

About First Give

First Give is a national charity that inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc.) in support of them.

At the end of each programme, a celebratory School Final is held at each school, where teams representing each class deliver presentations about their projects. The class considered to have engaged the best with the programme secures a First Give grant of £1,000 for their chosen charity. By the end of the programme, however, the whole year group will have given back meaningfully to their local community. We currently work in partnership with about 200 schools every year across England and Wales.

Programme Manager role

Programme Managers are responsible for coordinating the delivery of the First Give programme in up to 60 schools. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our team of Programme Managers.

Programme Managers support our schools to deliver the programme, engaging approximately 35,000 young people in social action for local causes. The schools this Programme Manager will work with are based in Wales and the West of England, plus some schools in London and the South East.

• Contract: Full time, fixed term maternity cover, approximately 11 month contract. 37.5 hours per week (9am-5.30pm but with occasional early starts and late finishes dependent on events and school visits).
• Salary: £32,000 – 34,000
• Location: Remote working from your Wales-based home, with regular travel to schools in Wales and the West of England. Travel to First Give’s London office in West Hampstead and other locations in England and Wales for team meetings will be required, approximately once per month.

Key responsibilities

All Programme Managers have the following as ‘core’ responsibilities, to ensure the successful delivery and management of the First Give programme in schools:

• Manage relationships with teachers and school leaders to deliver the First Give programme
• Manage programmes using Salesforce
• Attend school Finals and other in school events
• Deliver First Give events (Assemblies, Workshops and Finals) where required
• Renew schools onto the programme year-on-year
• Support recruitment and management of school facilitators as appropriate
• Provide logistic and programme support to teachers delivering the First Give programme at their school, including but not limited to:
  • an introductory Programme Call with the Lead teacher;
  • delivering a briefing to class teachers;
  • responding to queries via phone and email;
  • booking in First Give facilitated sessions
• Collect data for monitoring (student surveys; case studies; teacher surveys)
• Recruit a minimum of one judge per School Final from the wider community
• Actively raise the profile of First Give across Wales and the West of England, creating opportunities to attend networks, promote programmatic offers and develop new school partnerships or funding opportunities
• Some activity to recruit new schools to the programme, including seeking referrals from existing partners and delivering onboarding meetings

In addition to core responsibilities, Programme Managers have ‘Additional Responsibilities’ which make up part of their role and objectives. These Additional Responsibilities are flexibly assigned across the staff team based on the needs of the organisation and caseloads. Examples of Additional Responsibility areas include monitoring & evaluation; facilitator recruitment and training; communications; resource design; Youth Advisory Group oversight.

Your new role
The Deputy Head of FP&A has a key role to play in developing the Financial Planning and Analysis function, particularly in the direct line management of the Management Accounting and Analysis team to deliver core management accounting and reporting services, helping to support the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis to further embed Finance Business Partnering across the organisation and to bring a greater level of consistency, efficiency and quality to financial reporting and planning processes.

You will specifically act to support and oversee the work of the Management Accounting and Analysis team, including developing the capabilities of three newly created Finance Analyst posts through their work on financial analysis and monitoring of grant programmes and wider projects, understanding the business and providing meaningful financial insight and advice to support the delivery of strategic and operational objectives. The grants area requires some development in terms of processes and procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience of financial planning and analysis covering all aspects of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting for a complex organisation
• Experience of finance business partnering, acting as trusted advisor providing insight and analysis to senior colleagues
• Experience of problem-solving and implementing process improvements, particularly in relation to internal reporting (e.g. efficient design of Excel reports)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Debt Adviser who has a proven track record in helping and assisting clients facing financial difficulties and providing creative solutions to help alleviate their challenges in a sensitive and supportive role. They will have an awareness of having successfully provided debt advice in a regulated environment. They will have experience of supporting and supervising a team, and monitoring their performance to ensure this remains in line with internal and external requirements.

The successful candidate would be expected to work a hybrid model of delivery - in an office environment, outreach sessions as well as home based. They would be expected to provide advice via omni-channels such as face to face, telephone and email advice.
