About The Access Project

We support students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access top universities, through a unique combination of tuition and in-school mentoring. We work with them to make good applications, get the grades and transition to university. Our volunteers are trained and supported to be effective tutors who work with our students for an hour a week to raise their grades. In addition, a dedicated school-based staff member mentors the students so they have the knowledge and support to make strong university applications. Our results show this approach works.

About the role

This role is available at an important time for The Access Project as we expand our mission, seek to pilot a new programme model, and move into new school contexts. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the skills for programme improvement, a strong interest in research, and a deep passion for our mission to support students to place and succeed at selective universities.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who is comfortable working across teams to make change. You’ll be the lead and expert on The Access Project’s in-school university readiness work with responsibility for designing and quality assuring the provision, supporting the learning and development for our school-based staff to effectively deliver the programme content. This position is integral to ensuring The Access Project is delivering a high-quality programme that supports the needs of our students and drives the outcomes of the programme across all regions and schools. The postholder will also be responsible for amplifying The Access Project’s voice in the sector and responding to policy updates; with a focus on bringing their knowledge of the Higher Education sector and the experiences of our students to decisions about the direction of our own programme. They will also support further development of our programme-level Diversity and Inclusion work, to ensure that the programme is tailored where feasible to the needs of all students.

Duties and responsibilities

1) Design & Development

• Act as a senior collaborator to the annual programme design process. Work with the Head of Process Improvement & Programme Quality to incorporate University Access Officer, Programme Leadership, school, and student feedback on how best to drive our short term and long-term outcomes across our programmes.
• Project manage the implementation of changes driven out of programme design. This includes the creation of or changes to delivery resources and training materials, as well as to our university readiness framework and the Salesforce system that supports delivery.
• Work with Programme Managers to understand their delivery challenges, develop solutions and answer questions around university admissions, widening access and The Access Project’s own University Readiness Programme.
• Act as a senior contributor to the development of The Access Project’s programmatic Diversity and Inclusion work, working closely with the University Access Officer D&I Lead. This includes strong engagement with the D&I working group and designing and implementing systems and support to better serve our students with inclusion needs.
   

2) Research and Policy

• remain critically engaged with the widening participation/social mobility sector, and able to synthesise key changes/challenges and ensure that they are applicable/actionable by the organisation.
• Ensure that any relevant widening participation sector developments and trends are fed into The Access Project’s way of working. For example, this might be changes to resources for the programme or working with colleagues to communicate with students (e.g. on plans for A Level Results Day).
• To be an ambassador of The Access Project’s work and impact externally in the widening participation sector, including speaking at conferences, writing articles on our work, and engaging in external relations.
• Holding responsibility for The Access Project’s policy and research workstream, including contributing to the strategic direction of this work and undertaking research to drive the delivery of this workstream to promote The Access Project’s voice in the widening participation sector.
• Liaising closely with the Communications team to ensure that The Access Project’s responses to sector information and updates are timely and relevant to our Mission.
• Provide nuanced insight about the widening participation/Higher Education sector, with a clear take / coherent view on the landscape and how it’s changing, which would then enable us to make informed choices about our programme.

3) Quality Assurance

• Take responsibility for the operational implementation of the university readiness strand of the quality assurance strategy, to drive the quality of the activities The Access Project delivers to young people in schools.
• Participate in The Access Project’s quality assurance processes, including performing drop-ins on University Access Officers’ programme delivery, and coordinating with other members of the team to perform drop-ins in an efficient and effective manner.
• Embed learning from The Access Project’s quality assurance process into our standard practice. This will include delivering training and development sessions for University Access Officers, updates to resources and guidance for what best practice looks like.
• Contribute research on wider pedagogical best practice into our quality assurance work to ensure the highest quality in our delivery of educational programmes.

4) Student Voice

• Maximising student voice within programme design through the organisation and facilitation of student Delivery Review Meetings.
• Lead the development and administration of The Access Project’s annual student survey, considering the needs of key stakeholders across the organisation.
• Hold and contribute to The Access Project’s overarching Student Voice strategy.
• Continue to drive improvements in The Access Project’s student voice work through research and engagement with sector leaders.

My Life My Choice (MLMC) is a multi-award-winning self-advocacy charity uniquely run by and for people with learning disabilities, founded in 1998.  The charity delivers a diverse range of innovative user led projects that enhance and empower the lives of adults with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire.  These established projects include a fee earning training and consultancy Professional Services team, gig buddy, travel buddy scheme, a nightclub, campaigns and self-advocacy groups.

We are now looking for a committed individual to join our Gig Buddy team. The role holder will help to deliver a broad range of social activities which increase fun, friends, confidence and independence for our members with a learning disability.

Job Description

Communications:     

• Develop, contribute to and implement impact-driven and strategic communications campaigns that build Kineara’s fundraising capacity and raise awareness of the issues
• Develop brand identity for Kineara’s new charitable arm, ensuring it is consistent across all activities in the organisation, while maintaining Kineara’s overall ‘look and feel’ to ensure coherence in branding, colours, messaging, style and approach.
• Oversee the creation, development, distribution of compelling, impact-driven story-telling about Kineara’s work and beneficiaries using interviews, blogs, case studies, etc.
• Use a range of platforms to distribute print and electronic content including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, leaflets, posters reports, e-newsletters, and Kineara’s website
• Work closely with IT and business managers to ensure smooth running of internal communications

About the PVRI
We’re a small charity with a global reach and an important purpose: to reduce the burden of pulmonary vascular disease.

PVD is a serious condition which can lead to heart damage and trigger symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, poor growth, fainting and light-headedness. It can reduce both quality of life and length of life, but it isn’t widely recognised, or well-understood.

We bring together an international network of professionals to improve clinical care, education and PVD research. The network comprises thousands of clinicians, scientists, academics and industry partners, supported by our small team in Bermondsey, London. Together we deliver conferences, e-learning, an academic journal, and we raise awareness of the condition.

Much of the work is done by international working groups, and we’re seeking a new Project Coordinator to provide administrative and project support to those groups.

The job involves co-ordinating and servicing meetings across different time zones, maintaining workgroup records, developing surveys, pulling together academic papers for publication, event planning, and project work.

WISH2 is one of three components of the FCDO-funded WISH Dividend programme, which follows on from the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) programme (August 2018 - March 2024). It will be implemented alongside two other components, which will focus on 1. Policy and Systems, i.e. a demand-led, flexible technical assistance programme on SRHR and Demographic Transition and 2. Evidence and Learning, i.e. a Third Party Monitoring and verification, evaluation and learning support. As for WISH 2, it will aim to support targeted countries on comprehensive SRHR including support for service delivery and technical assistance, and will be implemented through two consortium structures, called Lots. MSI-led Lot 1 will focus on West and Central Africa (namely in DRC, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Chad and Mauritania) and IPPF-led Lot 2 on East and Southern Africa. Lot 1 consortium partners will be MSI, Ipas, Options, Sightsavers, RAES and WILDAF-AO. The programme should start in May/ June 2024 and last 60 months.

As a core member of MSI’s WISH2 Lot 1 Management Team, the Project & Communications Officer (PCO) will contribute to the fulfilment of the MSI-led consortium’s mission under the programme, taking responsibility for providing administrative support and ensuring good communication about the project with external and internal stakeholders, to ensure the smooth implementation of the project -

• Contract management, including compliance, and due diligence;
• Administrative support to the management team, coordination of all WISH 2 Lot 1 Management Team meetings and consortium meetings to ensure strong collaboration, communication and learning through meetings, workshops, country visits, etc;
• Technical support with creation and maintenance of shared systems, and ways of working to ensure best practice and the achievements of the project are documented; and communications, reporting and compliance requirements are adhered to;
• Communications support and materials production, i.e. support the Project Director and Deputy Project Director with the development and implementation of a WISH2 Lot 1 communications and visibility strategy, increasing knowledge and awareness of the project and ensuring compliance with FCDO communications requirements. This will include support to the development of a range of communications materials and their dissemination.

We're looking for an IT Project Manager to join our Data and IT team. The IT Project Manager will oversee the planning, implementation and tracking of assigned IT projects within the charity. Job Purpose - Facilities Manager - Projects 

The role holder will report directly to the Head of Estates whilst working closely with the Facilities Manager and the wider team, as well as operational colleagues.

The role holder will be responsible for the delivery of specific ad hoc estates projects, whilst also providing support to the wider Estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activity to ensure the development of an estate that delivers outstanding outcomes for the people we support, ensuring the portfolio is managed safely, cost effectively and in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

This role requires an individual with strong project management capability within an estate’s environment, with a demonstrable track record of delivery of projects on time, to Budget and to the requisite level of quality.

Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, the role holder will: 

• Lead the estates input in the expansion of the existing property footprint.
• Onboard new additions to the estate’s property portfolio efficiently and effectively.
• Work collaboratively with operational colleagues ensuring “best outcomes” are delivered for the people we support in the development and maintenance of the estate.
• Support the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activities.
• Be visible and on site to ensure the smooth running of projects and the timely resolution of issues. 

Dimensions

Whilst the role currently has no direct reports assigned, the level of project activity and the consequential resource requirements will determine any additional staffing needs. The nature of individual projects will determine this although it is anticipated that project spend will be circa £0.5m+ per annum.

Principal Accountabilities

Estates and Facilities Management 

• Responsibility: Act as the senior estates and facilities professional on project work assigned. 

• Project Plans: Ensure there is a clear and documented estates plan for each project assigned and lead the implementation of these plans to ensure best possible outcomes for the people we support. In the planning and delivery of projects, the role holder must ensure that due consideration is given to operational requirements. 

• Project Performance: Ensure a robust contract performance management framework is in place for each project. 

• Regulatory: Ensure all project work is undertaken in accordance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements. 

• Resource Management: Manage and co-ordinate both AFG staff and external contractors in the delivery of projects. Where required mitigating actions/plans may need to be taken to ensure that projects are delivered to requirements. 

• Onboarding: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. property acquisition (both support with the identification of appropriate property and subsequent due diligence). 

• Expansion: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. the expansion of existing estates footprint. 

• Business Cases: Prepare business cases, feasibility studies for consideration by the Head of Estates and onwards by the Executive/Director team. 

• Business as Usual Estates Activity: The role holder will be required to work alongside the Estates Manager and the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual estates activity (including site visits, contract monitoring meetings, supervision of reactive repairs etc.), where project requirements mean the role holder has capacity to undertake this work. 

Financial Management

• Financial Performance: Manage project related budgets, ensuring projects are delivered to Budget, to the requisite quality and to time. 

• Procurement: Work closely with the Procurement team to source potential suppliers for services and ensure those services are sourced on a “Value for money” (VFM) basis, and in accordance with the terms of the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation. 

• Tenders: Working closely with the Procurement function of the Charity, take the estates lead in tender activity where assigned, ensuring that activity is undertaken in accordance with the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation.

 About the Role

The Africa Death Penalty Team Project Manager is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. Our casework includes work on individual cases on behalf of people facing a death sentence; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing; and  long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter.

Regional context

 There is a trend toward the abolition of the death penalty in Africa. In recent years, countries across the continent have taken the decision to limit the application of the death penalty or to abolish it altogether. This has been seen as a turning away from old laws and systems that were imposed by former colonial governments, which obstructed alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and were designed to remove discretion from the local judiciary. African lawyers and judges are now at the forefront of a wave of progressive jurisprudence on issues related to the death penalty including methods of executions, torture, sentencing practice, conditions of confinement, and intersections of gender, disability, and socioeconomic status with criminal justice. This jurisprudence has become a model for the international movement to limit the death penalty, and is being held up as best practice in jurisdictions around the world.

Contract and location

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model with staff working part of the week from home and part of the week from the office. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel.
