About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to for an experienced Finance Operations Manager to join our team based at our Head Office in Abbots Leigh. This key role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, accuracy and compliance of all day-to-day financial operations for both Freeways and Freeways Trust.

You’ll lead a small finance administration team, oversee financial processing and play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our financial systems and controls.

As this role includes direct line management responsibilities, it requires the successful candidate to be based in the office for a minimum of 75% of their working time to provide effective leadership, mentoring and day-to-day support to the team. Ample free parking is available on site.

As part of our Finance Team, you will:

· ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information across both organisations

· oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and cashbook processes

· line manage and develop the finance administration team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture

· ensure accurate and timely processing of all transactions to support effective management reporting

· support the Finance Business Partner with the production of monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations

· lead preparation for annual audits and ensure compliance with financial controls

About You

You will be a part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA) or have equivalent experience at a similar level. With a strong background in financial operations and systems, you’ll bring excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. Experience within the charity or public sector is desirable.

You will also have:

· Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel

· Experience with computerised accounting systems (e.g. Access Financials, Dimensions)

• The Community Veterinary Surgeons report into the Senior Community Veterinary Manager
• We are all remote workers but successfully support each other through weekly catch-up meetings, in-person meetings and a strong team ethos of collaboration and case discussion
• We support many other teams across the organisation involved in the welfare of our cats in care. These teams include our operational colleagues, the cat welfare team and our team of regional behaviourists

What we’re looking for in our Community Veterinary Surgeon:

• Experience of working in small animal veterinary practice with associated shelter/charity experience
• Sound, current knowledge of feline medicine, contextualised care, animal welfare, veterinary medicines legislation
• Degree in veterinary medicine
• Must be currently registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to practice in the UK

At the Motability Foundation, we fund, support, research and innovate so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose.  

We’re building a Transport Solutions Team that can work flexibly across all the tools in our delivery kit – from grants and innovation pilots to research, partnerships, and commercial interventions. This includes a growing portfolio of projects tackling key challenges like inclusive EV charging, complex community transport funding opportunities, and large-scale research such as the National Centre for Accessible Transport.  

We are now recruiting several Grant Managers to join this team and help us deliver our vision. This role works within a dedicated team to assess grant applications from charities and organisations applying to the Motability Foundation for grant-funding to support their work in the disability transport sector. 

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, purpose-led team driving change in the transport system for disabled people and to work on some of the most interesting and impactful projects in the sector. 

What you will be doing:

• Manage grant delivery, including assessment, due diligence, contracting, monitoring, and closure, across our funding rounds.  
• Engage with all levels of applicant and grantee organisations to understand their work, assess their proposals, and provide support and challenge to strengthen delivery and outcomes. 
• Undertake financial, reputational, governance, and operational due diligence in line with our policies and risk appetite. 
• Produce high quality assessments of applications for review by our grant panels, including award recommendations.
• Work with applicant organisations to develop and agree contractual grant agreements. 
• Manage and monitor multi-year grant awards to ensure objectives and KPIs are achieved within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Ensuring all of our data records are kept up-to-date including reconciling payment schedules to grant records. 
• Work closely with colleagues across the TST to provide insight from delivery into programme development, and to learn from others’ work across research, innovation and partnerships. 
• Staying abreast of key issues facing the disability and transport sectors, to understand how these shape and influence applications to Motability’s grant programmes. 
• Support delivery of non-traditional funding mechanisms such as challenge prizes, research calls, or commercial commissioning approaches, contributing to assessment and management. 

Your experience:

• Experienced in assessing, managing, monitoring and evaluating grant applications or similar roles related to charitable grant making. 
• Understanding of not-for-profit structures, including charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations. 
• Experience in writing a variety of styles including academic, reports, and impact.
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise when faced with a continuous flow of applications and variable work load.
• Experience of effectively engaging at all levels within applicant organisations leading discussions where necessary. 
• Good with numbers, and the ability to understand and interpret budgets and accounts.
• Able to engage with grant applicants and build an ongoing positive rapport. 
• Strong IT skills including experience working with the MS Office suite. 
• Experience within the disability sector and/or direct or indirect experience of the mobility challenges faced by disabled people would be advantageous, but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase income across multiple channels.
• Manage relationships with individual fundraisers, supporting their journeys and ensuring excellent stewardship.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver fundraising events — both third-party events (such as the SuperHalfs series) and M7-run initiatives.
• Research, write, and submit compelling grant applications to trusts and foundations.
• Lead creative fundraising campaigns that engage new supporters and promote M7 Education’s mission.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, sponsors, and community partners.
• Monitor fundraising performance, prepare reports, and evaluate impact to inform future growth.
• Contribute to the development of a future fundraising team, including volunteers and, in time, staff members.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in charity fundraising, with a track record of generating income.
• Proven experience in event planning and delivery.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational and project management abilities.
• Confident working independently and taking initiative in a small, fast-moving team.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically about income growth.

Desirable:

• Experience in the education or children’s charity sector.
• Skills in communications, social media, or email campaigns.
• Understanding of sporting events and community fundraising (e.g. marathons, challenges).
• Experience writing successful grant or trust funding applications.

A key part of the new FEA strategy 'Neighbourhood to National' is our work with Combined Authorities, who we believe are an incredible unit for change for children and young people’s outcomes and we are now hiring three Heads of Collaboration Partnership to lead on this work employed by the FEA and working alongside a MCA Partnership Lead in each area. They will provide expert leadership to establish deep partnerships and enable cross-sector collaboration.

You’ll report to our Director of Place-Based Collaboration, within our expanding Place-Based team, drawing on expertise from across the FEA. You will also work with a dedicated lead for the Partnership in the Combined Authority. You will play a key role in ensuring that: learning and evaluation are bedded into the approaches; youth engagement is a key factor driving the work, and what is being uncovered in MCAs is feeding into policy change.

We are looking for a professional who is highly collaborative, committed to systems change, comfortable with working through ambiguity, sees the incredible potential for MCAs, and will be passionate about long-lasting change for children and young people.

Key duties and responsibilities

Main responsibilities

In line with our income generation strategy:

· Lead on the strategic planning and implementation of income generation activities to help build sustainability of The Carers’ Centre and its services for 19,600 unpaid carers across Bath and North East Somerset.

· Develop and implement a stewardship programme for donors and funders building support and securing new income for The Carers’ Centre.

· Work collaboratively with colleagues to help deliver The Carers’ Centre vision for carers.

Income generation

· Design and deliver a diverse income generation plan to support philanthropy and fundraising in line with The Carers’ Centre Strategic Plan.

· Co-produce annual philanthropy and fundraising targets and take the lead responsibility to instigate and co-ordinate the activity that will achieve them.

· Build long-lasting relationships with key local philanthropists, donors, and funders.

· Work proactively with colleagues to research, identify and scope a portfolio of compelling projects and proposals that will appeal to donors and funders.

· Work closely with communication colleagues to develop appropriate communications campaigns and activities for different supporter groups.

· Contribute towards the charity’s communications and marketing strategy ensuring fundraising is embedded.

· Develop, maintain, and implement relevant policies and procedures in line with our growth plans.

· Provide effective line management and support to direct reports to help them maximise their potential and effectiveness.
