We’re expanding our Income Generation team with this new role, which will be critical in securing funding to enable us to support more people, in very different ways.
As the Trusts and Foundations Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our fundraising efforts, generating income through grant applications to fuel our essential programs and pioneering pilot initiatives. You'll be the driving force behind building strong relationships with grant-giving bodies, family foundations, and corporate supporters, crafting compelling proposals that secure vital funding.
Previous grant writing experience is not essential, but the successful candidate will have well honed writing skills and the ability to pitch proposals to a variety of audiences.

The Income Generation and Communications department is a small team, working flexibly to support the charity’s frontline services. From time to time, you will need to represent the charity at events, support bids for contracts, and meet potential corporate and individual supporters. This will mean occasionally working evenings, weekends or on your non-working days. We’ll give you notice of when this is required and you’ll be able to claim your time back.
This role can be office based or predominantly remote to suit you (albeit there will be times when you need to be in Billericay or elsewhere in Essex). We’re open to negotiating the working pattern with the successful candidate, to be as flexible as possible.
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
- Full driving license. Able to drive Hamelin vehicles as well as use of own car
- Experience of writing professionally and persuasively
- Experience of working across teams and influencing other Managers • Experience of presenting complex information for a variety of audiences
- Great communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and credibility
- Bravery to challenge the status quo and embrace a continuous improvement approach • The ability to understand complex information and analyse data
- ICT skills such as MS Office suite It would be great if you had:
- Formal qualification or training in bid writing, marketing, grant applications or other fundraising disciplines • Experience of building relationships with grant giving bodies
- Experience of working with individuals with a learning disability or neurodiversity
- Experience of change management and service growth.

Are you passionate about supporting people and making a real difference within your community? We are looking for a motivated and passionate self-starter who is confident that they can support individuals back to employment.
As an Employment Adviser, you will play a vital role in helping autistic adults and people with learning disabilities to find meaningful and fulfilling employment. You’ll be joining an established horticultural project, Roots and Shoots, in Rochford, Essex and starting up a new project to use the training opportunities that Roots and Shoots offers as a conduit for helping people learn the skills to achieve paid work.
We welcome applications from all experience levels and backgrounds, you do not need experience in the learning disability sector to apply. What you will need is the ability to motivate and build relationships with clients, strong organisational skills, the confidence to communicate and engage with a range of employers and stakeholders and a fundamental belief that anyone who wants to work can work.
Main job duties:
- Supporting and motivating individuals with to access and sustain paid employment
- Regularly meeting with participants to listen, offer support and help them identify their best job match, reflecting their skills and aspirations
- Supporting participants through CV production, interview techniques and managing their health at work
- Building relationships with community partners including local GP practices, Social Prescribers, Job Centres and other charities to gain referrals to the project
- Advocating for your participants by educating and engaging with employers regarding the benefits of recruiting autistic people and people with learning disabilities
- Sourcing job opportunities for your participants through regular contact with local employers within the community
- Promoting employment and raising expectations around the ability of participants to access paid employment, breaking down the barriers for them
Who are we looking for?
You will need to be supportive and empathetic with great communication and listening skills. Also, the ability to initiate and develop relationships with individuals and be able to engage employers using a variety of methods including phone or face-to-face in the community, alongside having excellent time management and organisational skills.
We are actively interested in individuals who have experience in roles in at least one of the following areas; coaching, mentoring, recruitment, training, human resources, pastoral support or education.
Finally, you will be passionate, self-motivated, and ready to make a difference to the lives of the adults you are working with.

Exciting Opportunity: Media & Communications Officer Wanted!
Join an esteemed membership association as a Media and Communications Officer for a dynamic 12-month contract, working four days a week!
Your primary focus will be crafting and executing proactive and reactive print, online, and broadcast media campaigns to amplify the association's benefits. Additionally, you'll contribute to broader communications initiatives by planning and generating content across various platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive media campaigns to showcase the association's advantages through diverse media channels.
- Strategically engage with journalists to expand message reach, collaborating closely with subject matter experts.
- Craft and distribute timely press releases, comments, and statements.
- Compile media lists utilising media contacts platforms.

Person Specification:
- Demonstrable experience in media relations at an officer level.
- Proficiency in crafting content for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Track record of successfully pitching stories to journalists with tenacity and follow-through.
- Strong written communication, proofreading skills, and attention to detail.
