Burnham and Weston Energy CIC is looking for a programme manager to nurture and grow our energy advice service.
The service is delivered by a small team of trained Home Energy Advisors who visit people in their homes to provide advice on how they can save money on their bills and make their homes warmer and healthier to live in. They also install small energy efficiency measures such as LED lights, draft proofing and radiator reflectors. Households are then referred on to further support to help them access welfare payments and grant funding for home upgrades including insulation, boiler replacement and energy efficient appliances.
The current team of 2 Home Energy Advisors have capacity to deliver around 700 home visits per year. We receive referrals from a range of local organisations. We employ a Programme Co-ordinator to manage and generate home visit referrals and bookings, provide follow up support, and manage events and communications.
From this foundation, our growth objectives for the Home Energy Savings service are to:
- Continue to raise awareness of the service amongst local organisations and the public, and increase the number of referrals and vulnerable householders who benefit.
- Grow the team of Home Energy Advisors as demand requires, to at least double the team by the end of 2025.
- Secure additional funding to support the service.
- Develop partnerships which broaden and deepen the ways we can help households, including unlocking funding and support for energy efficiency retrofit.
Role responsibilities

Manage, mentor and support our team of Home Energy Advisors and the Programme Co-ordinator, and oversee its growth.

Responsible for team safeguarding, H&S, mental health, team building, mentoring and training;
- Manage the delivery of our Home Energy Saving Service across North Somerset and the former districts of Sedgemoor and West Somerset and Taunton, seeking opportunities to strengthen and grow the service.
- Manage the delivery of grant funder requirements including ensuring KPIs are met, budgets managed and reports provided.
- Manage the delivery of our referral partnership contract with LEAP AgilityEco including ensuring KPIs and contractual requirement are met and that households referred to LEAP receive the best possible support.
- To secure and manage further funding partnerships (such as Redress or MCS funding),
- Responsible for ensuring company policies relating to the advice programme are kept up to date and consistent with requirements or partners. Responsible for ensuring working practice is in accordance with our policies and that risk assessments and management plans are in place and adhered to.
- Manage relationships with organisations referring households to the energy support programme and receiving onward referrals from us.
- Develop partnerships which broaden and deepen the ways we can help households.
- Develop our CRM and IT systems.
- Represent Burnham & Weston Energy at local events and forums, nurture and grow our networks and relationships with local stakeholders and deliver our comms via the website and social media channels.
Essential requiremnts:
- Experience of leading and managing home visit teams including safeguarding, H&S, mental health, risk assessment and management, team building, mentoring and training. Experience of managing front line service teams is more important to us than energy advice experience. We can organise mentoring support from other community energy enterprises who have developed and scaled up local energy advice services.
- Experience of overseeing complex case work.
- Experience of grant programme and service contract management including management of budgets, KPI delivery, reporting and meeting funder requirements.
- Experience of securing grant and service contract funding including applications, contract negotiation and ensuring funding requirements are in place.
- Committed to and rooted in the communities we serve: Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Highbridge, Mark, Winscombe and the surrounding rural areas.
- Understand the local public, community and private sector landscape and be well networked.
- An ability to bring people together, bring out the best in people and make things happen.
Useful requirements:
- Understand the complex world of energy support funding.
- Experience of being a home energy advisor and/or managing home energy advice teams.
- A track record of business development, ideally in a social enterprise, charity or public service context.
- Competent with communications and social media.

We are seeking a Fundraiser with a background in lead and income generation with the drive to create change for farmed animals in the UK. You will be part of a small, high-impact team specialising in consumer education and political advocacy to help us grow our supporter base and raise essential income to support our work for animals.
As Fundraiser (Lead Generator), you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission by identifying and cultivating potential donors and supporters. Your primary responsibilities will be to generate leads utilising Engaging Networks on social media platforms and work with the Fundraising Development Manager to build on supporter journeys that maximise conversion rates.
You’ll join us in maximising the value of Engaging Networks, an intuitive, industry-leading CRM which brings fundraising and activism together and provides tools for integrating digital communications. While experience with Engaging Networks is desirable but not essential, you will have experience with CRMs, including reporting and managing campaigns.
Working as part of a highly effective team within a fast-paced environment, the Fundraiser (Lead Generator) will cultivate relationships in the coordination of imaginative and effective fundraising campaigns.
Whilst this position is home-based, it is largely normal office hours, although work outside these times will be required (e.g. relating to stunts, press conferences, talks and events). Time off in lieu will be given as appropriate.
The role will involve:
Lead Generation:
• Develop and implement target-led strategies to identify and engage potential donors
• Utilise various channels, such as Engaging Networks and social media platforms to generate leads and expand our supporter base substantially in 2024
Relationship Building:
• Cultivate meaningful relationships with prospective donors, understanding their interests and motivations for supporting animal rights
• Collaborate with the Fundraising Development Manager to ensure a personalised and donor-centric approach
• Collaborate with the Social Media & Marketing Manager to set up Google Ads campaigns, with ongoing monitoring, making improvements to enhance the quality and quantity of the leads generated
Communication and Outreach:
• Craft compelling messages and campaigns to effectively communicate the organisation's mission and impact
• Represent the NGO at events, conferences, and community gatherings to raise awareness and connect with potential supporters
Engaging Networks Management:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor information in Engaging Networks
• Track and analyse key performance metrics to assess the success of lead generation initiatives
Collaboration:
• Work closely with the fundraising and marketing team to align lead generation efforts with overall fundraising strategies

Skills:
Fundraising Expertise:
• At least three years of experience in fundraising within the non-profit sector
• A good working knowledge of direct marketing for donor recruitment, appeals and stewardship across different channels, with a particular focus on digital

Job Title: Admin/Customer Services

Main Purpose of Job
To ensure the smooth running of the sales floor and main office to offer a high-quality service to donators and customers.
Main Responsibilities
- Serving customers, dealing with enquiries, arranging delivery when necessary
- Processing cash, card and other customer payments
- Arranging for approved donations of furniture to be collected
- Handling product returns and payment refund requests
- Helping with movement, inventory and presentation of stock in the warehouse
- To assist in the movement of stock by road transport, including van driving.
- To assist and support new volunteers as directed. Ensure that volunteers understand the customer service standards that we aspire to as an organisation
- To follow all statutory Health and Safety requirements and those detailed in the organisation’s Health and Safety policy and risk assessments
- Work flexibly and to be prepared to contribute to all areas of work in the organisation
