Job title: HR Officer
Duration: 3 months
Location: South East London, short walk from Stratford station
Pay: £18 an hour + holiday pay
Hours: Full time, hybrid
In your role as HR Officer who will look after the day to day HR operations from recruitment to onboarding and L&D. This is a diverse role and your duties will include but will not be limited to;
- Assisting with recruitment and selection - including, advertising, and arranging interviews
- Onboarding of new starters including raising contracts
- Updating monthly personnel changes and files
- Assisting with L&D administrator such as finding course providers, and arranging training sessions
- Looking after the HR inbox
In this varied and busy role you are required to effectively manage a variety of different duties and the skills you will bring to the role will include;
- Knowledge of HR confidentiality
- Prior experience in managing high volume recruitment
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
- Ability to work as part of a team in varied and busy role

About Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge
Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham & Redbridge (Mind THNR) is a local Mind association and community mental health charity. We endeavour to make sure that everyone with a mental health or emotional issue has somewhere to turn for advice and support.
Our vision is a society where everyone is accepted and included; where there is no stigma or discrimination towards people because of mental health issues; and where our clients' needs and ambitions are supported. We provide an extensive range of support services- including for those in crisis, through our work in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge.
About the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead and shape our People and Culture practices, playing a pivotal contribution in driving the organisation towards its vision and future goals. You’ll collaborate with colleagues at all levels to understand their needs and objectives, ensuring the People and Culture plan facilitates positive organisational change and a great colleague experience for Mind THNR 70 or so staff.
As a key member of the Leadership Team, this role is responsible for ensuring that all human resources functions, including strategy development, governance, staff leadership, and wellbeing, align with and support the overall mission and values of the organisation.
Additionally, the role will be critical in championing diversity and inclusion, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and driving continuous improvement through innovation and strategic leadership.
About you
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- CIPD:
Must hold a relevant CIPD qualification, demonstrating a solid HR management and strategic leadership foundation.
- Proven experience in senior-level strategic people management:
Demonstrable ability to provide high-level strategic HR advice, evidenced by specific examples of successful interventions.
- Track record in leading and implementing cultural and organisational change:
Successfully led and facilitated major change programmes, including cultural transformation, that support the organisation's growth and adaptability.
- Expertise in developing and executing complex workforce strategies:
Showcases deep professional knowledge and relevant experience in crafting and implementing comprehensive workforce strategies.
- Effective communicator with diverse communities:
Ability to engage, inspire, and communicate effectively, demonstrated by past successes in fostering inclusive environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices and methodologies:
In-depth understanding of current HR practices, with a proven ability to apply this knowledge to drive organisational success.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and diplomatic skills:
Proven ability to diplomatically influence and negotiate with key stakeholders, with examples of successful outcomes in complex situations.
