 Job Title: Head of Governance

 Salary:£83,000 per annum inclusive of OLW and MS this represents band I

 Location:   Gilwell Park (Hybrid), Chingford, London.

The Head of Governance will ensure that the organisation (including subsidiaries) has robust and effective governance in place which complies with statutory requirements and good practice in relation to company and charity law and charity governance. They will be a key strategic leader, expected to lead the development and improvement of governance at The Scouts.

The post holder will provide strategic leadership of the governance, and associated functions, supporting the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to proactively and effectively lead and manage the organisation to operate efficiently at its best. They will also be a natural collaborator, working with key stakeholders such as The Head of Legal to provide high level technical advice to members of the Movement and TSA staff concerning governing documents and key decisions, whilst also supporting effective governance at headquarters.  

Key Responsibilities:

• As a key senior leader in the charity, and critical support to The Board of Trustees, provide strategic leadership for governance and its development at The Scouts
• Design and implement a strategic plan for the Governance function to meet the needs of the organisation
• Ensure that all legal vehicles across The Scout Association comply with all regulatory requirements and remain compliant with changes in charity law and the wider regulatory environment
• Work closely with the Head of Legal to ensure legal, regulatory and statutory compliance, and in particular that appropriate legal advice and guidance is applied to The Scouts decision making and governance processes, wherever, appropriate

As an Employment Advisor, you will sit within the Employment & Careers team, supporting the direct delivery of our employment service by recruiting beneficiaries through outreach and supporting them to secure or progress in employment.
 
Reporting to Head of Employment & Careers you will be required to manage and support a varied and challenging caseload into employment by providing high quality information and guidance. You will be expected to conduct in depth and comprehensive initial assessments in order to produce SMART and tailored action plans. 

Your role will also require meaningful weekly contact with beneficiaries, conducting regular reviews of agreed actions and setting revised actions where applicable. It is imperative that you are able to demonstrate and encourage a positive mind-set among beneficiaries by adopting a strengths based approach to their journey into employment. 

As an Employment Advisor, you will be expected to conduct employer engagement activity for the service, as well as support the delivery of job fairs and sector specific workshops. The role will also require you to ensure the service is at capacity levels by establishing and maintaining a network of referral partners and attending outreach events. 

You will have at least 1 year of experience working in a similar post supporting disadvantaged groups back to work and/or training and education. You will have experience of working in an evidenced based practice and working to set targets. You will be equipped with influencing and persuasion skills. 

You will also be responsible for conducting caseload reviews weekly/monthly and maintaining up to date beneficiary records on our internal systems.

This role requires you to work collaboratively with carers and professionals to meet carers’ needs and shape the service, building and maintaining strong partnerships to do so. You will support our wider organisational objectives and help out with events, communications and other ad hoc work.

About the role

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we have our own unique role to play in reaching the North Star. We know our strengths and where we can have the most impact to best support children and young people with cancer. Within our new strategy ‘The Time is Now’ we set out four strategic ambitions, the first stating we will continue to be a major service delivery provider: offering high quality, impactful services. We are proud to lead the way in delivering high-level, psychosocial support and accommodation services throughout cancer treatment, end-of-life, and bereavement and we want to ensure our investment in this area is optimised to make sure we always provide the tailored support that children, young people and families need and that our services remain relevant.

You will be joining an established operational leadership team who are committed to continuous service improvement. Service Managers play a key leadership role in the management and development of a region, which is made up of three social work teams located alongside Principal Treatment Centres which are Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield. Your responsibilities will include delivering service standards, and compliance. You will interface with NHS stakeholder colleagues to promote effective governance and multi-disciplinary relationships with a focus on smooth referral pathways. The team meets weekly to discuss management of the overall service-this effectively allows all team members to play an active role. In addition, to your designated region you will have a lead area of responsibility-this will be Deputy Safeguarding Lead. This role works closely with the Head of Safeguarding to ensure effective management of safeguarding across the charity as well as spanning workforce development and the promotion of best practice.

This position has four direct reports, 3 Team Managers and one Regional Service Coordinator, the latter provides support to the Service Manager and regional teams.

We actively invest in your development and set clear expectations about deliverables and culture. We are looking for someone who is committed to best practice and responsiveness to the needs of children and young people. You will need to be a confident relationship builder, with a track record in social work management. This post requires registration with a professional social work body and criminal record checks.

About the role:

Respect is seeking two Helplines Advisors to provide support to male victims of domestic abuse on the Men’s Advice Line and perpetrators of domestic abuse on the Respect Phoneline.

You will support service users by phone, email and webchat, providing emotional support, practical advice, information on the available options, and signposting to other services. As well as work with male victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse in ways that support them to increase safety and reduce harm, as described in the Models of Work and relevant policies and procedures.

About you:

• An understanding of the nature of domestic abuse and its effects on victims, in particular male victims
• An understanding of the help-seeking barriers for male victims of domestic abuse 
• An understanding of the reasons why perpetrators use abusive behaviours towards partners in relationships 
• Experience of providing information, advice, and support by telephone, email and webchat in a helpline environment 
• A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and an approach that centres survivors, in particular Black and minoritised survivors.

The Role

To undertake all aspects of warehouse duties, ensuring effective, safe and efficient distribution of food each day. You will have responsibility for coordination of our food stock, from goods-in to picking, dispatch and stock rotation and will be expected to drive vans, and Fork Lift Trucks (training provided). Working closely with the wider team and volunteers, you will also support the monitoring and utilisation of warehouse space, stock, deliveries and collections to ensure food reaches its destination amongst our members safely, on time and in full.

Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Operations

• Undertake all warehouse duties, ensuring effective, safe and efficient co-ordination and distribution and of food
• To work to performance indicators so that stock is accurate and delivery routes are efficient to allow the organisation to grow
• To ensure that all work areas – both inside and outside the warehouse - are clean, organised and safe to work in
• Follow all H&S and Food Safety standards set out in the FareShare policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all our colleagues & visitors, and the safe receipt of food by all our members.
• Undertake van/Fork Lift Truck driving duties to ensure effective, efficient timely and safe delivery & collection of food, in line with compliance standards
• Ensuring great customer service in delivery
• Loading and unloading, sorting for, and following deliveries, ensuring safe lifting, and carrying
• Keep vehicles refuelled, maintained, operational and clean and tidy, ready for the next delivery run
• Refer van “issues”, in a timely manner to Transport Department to ensure minimum disruption to service delivery
• Undertake all checks and procedures from pre-delivery to post-delivery
• Ensure lock up, parking and storage of vans and equipment following completion of deliveries

2. Volunteer Communication & Co-ordination

• Work closely with the volunteer teams a diverse group ranging from regular and long-term, volunteers, placements (e.g. Job Centre) to business people having just a 1-day volunteering experience – to ensure that all shift duties are covered and teams work effectively

• The role requires manually loading stock into a van (up to 20/30kg) and unload each delivery
• A good geographical knowledge of the County and surrounding area would be helpful.

About the role:

Respect is seeking two Helplines Team Leaders. You will be the main point of contact for the team of Advisors and provide line management support along with other focused meetings that guide their work with service users.

You will manage concerns raised by Advisors and make decisions on safety actions, and deal with complaints. You will oversee the implementation of a rota system that maximises resource capacity at peak call times to meet high demands. Work collaboratively with partner agencies that deliver programmes of support for both male victims and perpetrators, and set up signposting and referral processes that supports our work.

About you:

• At least two years’ experience of working on complex cases in a multi-agency environment and working with other professionals/agency to manage risk and safeguard vulnerable adults and children 
• An understanding of the root causes of domestic abuse, both individually and societal, and its effects on victims, in particular male victims 
• An understanding of the help-seeking barriers for male victims of domestic abuse 
• Ability to lead a team using motivational strategies that inspire and create a positive working atmosphere
• A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and an approach that centres survivors, in particular Black and minoritised survivors.

Respect is seeking two Helplines Advisors to provide support to male victims of domestic abuse on the Men’s Advice Line and perpetrators of domestic abuse on the Respect Phoneline.

You will support service users by phone, email and webchat, providing emotional support, practical advice, information on the available options, and signposting to other services. As well as work with male victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse in ways that support them to increase safety and reduce harm, as described in the Models of Work and relevant policies and procedures.

1. Overall strategic development and management of the Community Hub Programme

Manage and develop the Community Hub providing activities, personal development opportunities and information for refugees and people seeking asylum.

Line manage ESOL Coordinator with supervision and appraisals supporting their CPD

Work with the ESOL Coordinator and volunteers to develop activities and client engagement within the project.

Plan and ensure delivery of short courses, workshops and events either in house or facilitated by partners.  Promote local activity and encourage client participation in line with the requirements of the Big Lottery funding.

Oversee project activities in all venues ensuring practical and active implementation of all policies and procedures, particularly Health and Safety, Risk Assessments, and Safeguarding 

Work with Volunteer Coordinator to support and supervise volunteers to a high standard.

Manage Venue bookings

2. Collaborative work with and engagement of project partners and other agencies in the borough

Source and work with project partners on successful delivery of activities and events within the project and promotion of wider activities in the borough
