Cranstoun is an independent charity and leading provider of specialist treatment, harm reduction and recovery services to those affected by drug and alcohol use. This is an exciting opportunity to become a Key Worker within our high performing psychosocial drug and alcohol service in HMP Birmingham.

We provide a range of services for those affected by drugs and alcohol. Our skilled and compassionate team work closely with people who use our services to change and save lives. We combine proven expertise in treatment and recovery with innovative approaches and actively involve those we help in improving the design of the services we provide.

You will be based in our psychosocial team working with adult males (over 18 years old). You will be responsible for delivering a range of elements of our substance use work including case management, assessments, care planning, the delivery of one-to-one interventions to include harm reduction and motivational work, group work, and engagement support as well as other associated duties. You need to be committed to supporting people who use our services to make positive changes to prepare them for release into the community, and you will arrange continuity of care. You will work in collaboration with the clinical team and integrated working is a key element of this role. You will work within the prison setting and contribute towards the wider prison drug strategy.

Having experience of supporting people with complex health needs including substance use, you will bring knowledge and commitment to deliver drug and alcohol treatment. You will have a non-judgemental attitude and a desire to support the lives of people who use our services to be healthier and safer by delivering a high-quality service.

Experience of working with drug and alcohol use is essential. You will be a competent communicator, with the ability to work independently and be comfortable and enthusiastic, both with the highlighted client group and working in partnership with other service providers. Previous experience or knowledge of working with individuals on opiate replacement treatment, and/or involved in the criminal justice system will be advantageous.

The Junction is an out of hours service, open 365 evenings a year, to support and assist individuals experiencing a mental health concern. The aim is to alleviate the need for people in the Swindon locality to access A&E acute mental health services and primary care GP services unnecessarily by managing the presenting symptoms/mental health crisis along with the triggers and context for that crisis. 

As an Acute Mental Health Practitioner, you will be providing a preventative, person centred approach to people accessing the service who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

The service is open from 4PM-11PM, 365 days a year so this position will include some weekends and bank holidays.

About the role

Reporting in to the Partnership & Strategy Lead, the Programme & Partnership Lead for Colombia will be the most senior and key programme, partnership and lead role for each priority country, maintaining oversight of a dynamic and responsive partner portfolio that aligns with organisational values and goals.

The post-holder will ensure Christian Aid's work in partnership employs a decolonised approach to improve locally led work and maximise impact. The role is key in exploring and contributing to multi country programme initiatives across the cluster. The role provides
oversight and leadership to embed a culture of impact. The role plays a lead role in convening spaces with partners and key stakeholders, including faith leaders, and catalysing for change. It plays a key role in strengthening civil society, and fostering coherent linkages among programme, humanitarian and advocacy interventions across priority countries.

The role works collaboratively with partners to shape our response to poverty across the priority countries, to enable a culture of continuous learning. The role leads on ensuring that initiatives contribute to impact in CA’s four global thematic areas.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Programme & Partnership Lead - Colombia include:

• Drive and lead the programme/project delivery ensuring that it is connected to work across the cluster.
• ‘Horizon scan’ to identify new potential partners that would enhance impact, and review portfolio under each of the 4 CA thematic areas (plus sub-themes of resilience, protection and inclusion) to maximise impact.
• Drive and enhance collaboration with partnerships and Christian Aid (convening) to effectively co-design, develop, plan, budget, implement, evidence, learn and communicate the impact from interventions within the programme. This will involve strengthening our collaboration with church leaders and FBOs, as part of bringing to the fore our faith identity and aligning with organisational values and goals.
• Manage a priority programme partner portfolio and ensure a collaborative approach in project design and delivery with partners to drive meaningful change.
• Be accountable for donor reporting and compliance, supporting proposal co-development and design with partners to foster a mindset of support and connection
• Lead in convening regular programme review, learning and reflection spaces with partners and key stakeholders, and when we bring CSOs together to enhance our mutual impact.
• Lead on representation for the programme and on country specific issues, and on ACT Alliance collaboration, including exploring joint programming.

Business and Administration Coordinator

Coordinate the administrative function of the Southwark Catholic Youth Service, ensuring the smooth planning, and evaluation of youth events, training programmes, pilgrimages, and Mission Team administration. The post-holder acts as the central operational hub for planning, finance, admin, communications and volunteer coordination, ensuring systems and logistics run efficiently and on time so the Director and mission staff can focus on strategy and operational delivery. This is a hands-on coordination role for a natural organiser who makes things work seamlessly behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities

1) Strategic Administration & Planning

a) Maintain the master events calendar, ensuring all youth service activities are scheduled, planned and tracked.

b) Maintain simple project boards (e.g., Asana/Trello) with owners, deadlines and status.

c) Support the Director with all aspects of administration and planning, including timelines, progress monitoring, and post-event evaluation.

d) Keep planning documents, checklists, and contact databases accurate and up to date.

e) Take initiative in identifying and implementing improvements to administrative systems, ensuring the Service runs efficiently and professionally.

2) Event & Programme Administration

a) Oversee administrative logistics for all events, including venue bookings, contractor & volunteer scheduling, catering orders, AV requests, travel, accommodation, risk assessments, and consent forms.

b) Prepare briefing packs, participant communications, and evaluation forms.

c) Maintain an event management workflow (including deadlines and task assignments) to ensure all activities run on time and within budget.

3) Pilgrimage Planning (World Youth Day & Lourdes)

a) Lead administrative planning for pilgrimages: itineraries, travel bookings, accommodation, insurance, payments, and safeguarding documentation.

b) Act as the primary contact for pilgrims, managing participant information and correspondence.

c) Organise pre-departure briefings, resource packs, and follow-up processes.

d) Support fundraising and publicity logistics for pilgrimages, ensuring precise and timely communications to participants and parishes.

4) Volunteer Administration

a) Work with other team members to maintain accurate volunteer records.

b) Track and circulate volunteer rotas, ensuring completeness.

c) Manage booking, coordination and administration of the Mission Team.

d) Oversee the onboarding and offboarding of volunteers, ensuring role descriptions, safeguarding checks, and agreements are completed.

5) Communications Liaison

a) Maintain and update the youth service website with event details, news, and resources.

b) Produce and distribute the youth service e-newsletter (via Mailchimp), ensuring mailing lists are accurate and GDPR compliant.

c) Assist with social media to share updates, provide event content, and ensure consistent messaging.

d) Commission printed and digital publicity materials.

6) Safeguarding & Compliance

a) Liaise with the Director of Safeguarding to embed safeguarding procedures in all events and pilgrimages: risk assessments, consent forms, medical records, and emergency contacts.

b) Act as the Safeguarding Representative to manage DBS applications, safeguarding training records, role descriptions, and volunteer agreements.

c) Maintain accurate, digital safeguarding and compliance files and ensure all event leaders are briefed on their responsibilities.

7) Finance & Resource Management

a) Process invoices, expense claims, and participant payments.

b) Monitor budget, reconcile accounts and prepare budget reports for the Director.

c) Reconcile bank and credit card statements with receipts.

d) Order resources, equipment, and printed materials for events and programmes, maintaining a stocklist.

e) Support the Director in financial forecasting and annual budget preparation, ensuring accurate and timely data.

8) General Office Administration

a) Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes when required.

b) Maintain and update digital and paper filing systems.

c) Act as the first point of contact for youth service administrative enquiries, managing the youth service inbox.

d) Keep stock of branded materials, stationery, and event equipment.

e) Ensure the office environment and digital systems are well organised and professional, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.

f) Basic facilities liaison (H&S checks, equipment log).

Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF) provide advice and financial assistance in the form of grants at times of crisis and hardship.  Our work is funded through a combination of donations, legacies and returns on our investments.

The Head of Finance & IT will manage the relationships with the three investment managers and the outsourced IT providers.  It is a varied role, combining the strategic with the hands-on.  It will suit a versatile individual who is happy to transition between multiple tasks.  No two days will be the same.  One moment you might be writing or reviewing Board papers, the next you might be managing an IT support call and then later on you might be rolling up your sleeves to post the final journal entries to complete the management accounts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Finance

• Accurate, timely and user-friendly management accounts, cash flow projections and other relevant financial information, with associated recommendations where appropriate
• An annual budget and accompanying management commentary
• Draft statutory accounts which meet the latest SORP requirements, producing the audit file and being the lead contact for the Fund’s auditors during the annual external audit
• Full compliance with UK charity and company financial regulations; and appropriate financial controls in place and complied with
• The development and keeping up to date of a Finance department handbook, covering finance policies, practices and procedures
• Successful leadership and development of the finance team
• The development of, and assistance with the implementation of, financial strategies to enable the Fund to achieve its long-term goals
• Support The Finance Committee’s investment management and monitor the Investment managers’ performance
• Managing the payroll function (outsourced)
• Managing the relationship with the pension scheme provider and staff salary sacrifice arrangements.

Information Technology

• Responsible for the development and implementation of the RMBF’s Information Technology strategy
• Management and development of an accurate, up to date, user-friendly database to provide relevant information to support all areas of the RMBF’s work including casework, fundraising and communications
• Cost effective development and use of IT within the Fund, to enable staff to make good use of IT for communication, record keeping and management information
• Managing the relationship with the Fund’s outsourced IT support companies.

Person Specification

• Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience
• Good understanding of charity SORP
• Experienced in preparing charity statutory accounts
• Experienced in charity investment management; good understanding of charity investment and restricted funds
• Good understanding of stakeholder pension and latest regulatory requirement
• IT literate including database management and development and an advanced user of the Microsoft Office package

About Us 

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.

The Team

This role sits within the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications team. We are a small team of passionate fundraisers, marketers and communications professionals with one goal - to find homes and better support for homeless LGBTQ+ young people. You’ll be responsible for the management and content of akt’s ‘shop window’ – our social channels and website. You’ll advise the CEO and Director on the best strategy and opportunities for building akt’s reputation, presence and profile.
