Sessional Youth Programme Horse Specialist (Part Time)
An exciting opportunity to help young people build confidence, connection and resilience through horses and life on our Skipton farm. Following the success of our day visits, our residential programme will launch in January 2027 and we are looking for a horse specialist to join our growing team. This unique role combines equine-assisted therapeutic work and hands-on farm life, helping young people see themselves differently.
What is Jamie’s Farm? Jamie’s Farm is a charity that supports young people by combining therapeutic work, farming, and purposeful activities to help them thrive. Through residential visits to our working farms, we provide a nurturing environment where young people can reflect, build confidence, and develop the resilience they need to overcome personal challenges.
Known within the organisation as ‘Sessional Worker – Horse Specialist’
More about the role: You will plan and deliver engaging horse-based sessions for visiting young people, using an equine-assisted therapeutic approach to create opportunities for connection, reflection and personal growth. As part of the wider delivery team, you will contribute to the shared rhythms of farm life, from feeding rounds and walks, to mealtimes, group discussions and occasional evening activities. Working closely with with rest of the Skipton team you will help ensure each visit runs smoothly and provides a positive experience for all.
Alongside programme delivery, you will lead the day-to-day care and welfare of our horses, maintaining high standards of husbandry, stable management and wellbeing.
About you : We are looking for someone with strong practical experience of horse care, welfare and management, alongside experience of using equine-assisted work with children and young people. You will be able to build positive relationships with young people from a wide range of backgrounds and create safe and engaging experiences that help encourage participation, reflection and growth.
You will bring excellent communication and organisational skills, together with a warm, patient and collaborative approach. Above all, you will share Jamie’s Farm values and be motivated to use your equine expertise to make a meaningful difference for young people.
