Family Support Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers with parenting or child caring experience to support families for 2-3 hours per week, for a minimum of one year upon completing the preparation course.

We provide a preparation course for all volunteers before they start to visit families, which covers all the essential training and information you will require.

Qualifications and Characteristics

• No formal qualifications required
• Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively
• Ability to listen with a non-judgmental and caring approach
• Parenting and Childcaring experience
• Ability to empathies with others
• Awareness & sensitivity to different lifestyles and child rearing practice and attitudes
• Reliability & Commitment
• Sufficient English to participate fully in volunteer preparation course
• Willingness to learn and attend all Home Start Camden & Islington’s Volunteer training
• You should live in the Boroughs of Camden or Islington
