FITNESS FRIDAYS LEAD (VOLUNTEER)

Create Fun, Accessible, Confidence‑Boosting Sessions That Help People Facing Loneliness Feel Stronger, Happier & More Connected

About SUNSHINE

SUNSHINE is a small but ambitious grassroots charity on a mission to reduce loneliness and help people feel truly seen, valued and connected. Every week, our volunteers bring warmth, joy and human connection to people who feel isolated, overlooked or alone.

Fitness Fridays will be one of SUNSHINE’s weekly wellbeing rituals — gentle, inclusive movement sessions designed to help people feel good in their bodies, boost confidence and connect with others in a supportive environment. We’re looking for a Fitness Fridays Lead to bring these sessions to life with energy, encouragement and care.

Your sessions will help people feel stronger — physically and emotionally. Your leadership will help people rebuild confidence and connection. Your Fridays will become a highlight of the week for people who feel alone.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Designing Fun, Accessible Fitness Sessions

  • Plan and host weekly Fitness Friday activities.

  • Create sessions that are gentle, inclusive and suitable for all abilities.

  • Focus on movement that boosts mood, confidence and connection.

2. Welcoming People Facing Loneliness

  • Greet participants with warmth, encouragement and positivity.

  • Support people who may feel anxious, unfit or unsure about joining.

  • Help everyone feel safe, included and proud of themselves.

3. Building Community & Confidence

  • Facilitate group movement, light exercise or wellbeing‑focused activities.

  • Encourage teamwork, laughter and a sense of belonging.

  • Celebrate small wins — every step counts.

4. Supporting Volunteers & Coordinating the Team

  • Work with volunteers who help run the sessions.

  • Ensure everyone understands their role and feels supported.

  • Create a calm, organised environment for volunteers and participants.

5. Helping SUNSHINE Grow Across London

  • Gather simple feedback to help improve future sessions.

  • Share insights about what participants enjoy or need.

  • Help shape a model that can expand to more neighbourhoods.

This Role Is for You If…

  • You’re energetic, friendly and love bringing people together.

  • You care deeply about loneliness, wellbeing and community.

  • You enjoy leading gentle fitness, movement or wellbeing activities.

  • You’re patient, encouraging and comfortable supporting people who may feel nervous.

  • You’re based in or connected to London.

  • You want to help build a new charity from the ground up.

Practical Details

  • Location: In‑person across London + some remote planning.

  • Time: Approx. 3-5 Hours per month (This is a fully flexible volunteer role with no set hours)

Why This Role Matters

For someone facing loneliness, fitness can feel intimidating. Your sessions will make it feel safe. Your encouragement will help people rediscover confidence in their bodies. Your Fridays will become a place where people feel stronger, happier and more connected.

This is not just a fitness session. It’s community. It’s empowerment. It’s hope — shared through movement, week after week.
