Overall Purpose of Role

This role will lead the operational team at Saint Paul’s with inspiring and effective line management to release ministry in the wider team and congregation. This is a hands on leadership role, supporting and working closely with the Senior Leaders to ensure effective operations and business continuity. You will lead on all operations functions including Finance, HR, Facilities, Procurement and all other operations that help our team thrive and carry out the vision of Saint Paul’s. Reporting in to boards and other management bodies, as well as experience running and leading teams, you will have an eye for detail with the ability and experience in carrying out change. You will carry the vision and mission of Saint Paul’s and lead the team in a way that supports the vision, balancing both strategic and operational goals. Saint Paul’s is a constantly changing environment and one where supporting and empowering team is at the forefront of this role.

Key Responsibilities

Finance

• Lead and manage Finance and Procurement, ensuring value for money, maximising financial efficiency through accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to inform decision making and projections related to the operational and financial functioning of Saint Paul’s.
• P&L reporting and responsibility.
• Managing and supporting the Finance Manager.
• Managing Payroll alongside Finance Manager.
• Overseeing gift days.
• Managing and monitoring team budgets ensuring compliance with financial protocols.
• Timely preparation, monitoring and communication of monthly accounts, budgets and forecasts for Finance Committee and PCC.
• Assisting in the preparation and reporting of financial accounts for HMRC, Auditors, Diocese and Charity Commission.
• Preparation of financial information for grant funding and financial reporting for successful bids. 

HR & Team

· Line Managing the Operations team including the Finance Manager, Operations Manager, LCL Manager, Receptionist and Bookings Manager and Facilities Manager.

· Ensure the overall smooth running of HR, ensuring we are using best practice and are up to date with knowledge at all times.

· Monitoring of Citrus HR to ensure all team are using the programme to its full ability.

· Governance of payroll, overtime and leave.

· Running annual appraisal processes and updating where needed.

· Meeting with wider team members as and when needed to ensure health of team.

· Being a first point of call for any HR issues that arise and advising on these.

· Overseeing and leading of recruitment processes.

Facilities Management

· Ensure the historic fabric of the church and associated buildings is maintained and developed in line with prescribed regulations and standards and where appropriate that the historical and heritage aspects of the buildings are appropriately profiled and made available to the community and general public. 

· Manage all operations budgets and external contract relationships in line with forecast ensuring value for money and delivery is in line with agreed project scope/specifications and high-quality service. 

· Proactively agree (and monitor) standards for buildings maintenance and adherence.

· Leading on our Carbon Net Zero journey.

· Business Continuity and Disaster Management Plan reviewing to ensure risk management/mitigation.

Other

· Strategic management of the Saint Paul’s Centre and all business related to it, ensuring we meet our targets and ensuring good working relationships with clients to help secure repeat business from large clients.

· Oversight of the café, helping to improve our offerings and ensure management of the team and operational effectiveness.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

You will be flexible and able to work dynamically to respond to needs as they arise, whilst keeping a strategic eye on upcoming opportunities and challenges. You will bring strength to the day-to-day running of St Paul’s, as well as be planning for the short-term and long-term future health of the team and church.

· 5+ years experience in operations management, with a proven track record of line management. 

· Strong finance capabilities and experience.

· Strong HR experience and understanding of the function.

· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

· Leadership and management experience in a diverse team.

· Personal maturity, wisdom, and discretion.

· Flexible, adaptable, ‘can do’ attitude, offers solutions to problems.

· Ability to seek clarification, adapt approach to resolve (or avoid) conflict and manage complaints.

Working Requirements

• Proof of right to work in the UK according to UK Legislation.
• Days of work: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday with occasional evenings required
• Work hours: 9am – 6pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.

Cranstoun is a social justice and harm reduction charity empowering people to empower change. We offer a wide range of services across England within drug and alcohol, domestic abuse, young people’s services, criminal justice and housing.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the children and young people’s team and be part of a new and pioneering pilot at Merry Hill shopping centre in Dudley. Within the role of a Service Manager, you will shape, develop and lead the team to provide an early support youth hub, supporting young people aged 13 – 25yrs. It will serve as an easy to access, youth friendly space which will allow young people to get help at the earliest opportunity.

The hub will provide: -

· Accessible open access information, advice and guidance that is available Tuesdays – Fridays 3-7pm and Saturdays.

· Tailored emotional and practical support that is trauma informed.

· Timetable of access for partner agencies including sexual health, substance use, mental health.

· Promoting positive well-being through themed events and clubs.

· Preventing escalation including wellbeing coaching to those who access the hub that may need short term goals focused support.

You will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the hub, including staff supervision/performance, safeguarding, day to day delivery and implementing a wellbeing coaching model. You will need to have a strong understanding of how to maintain close working relationships with stakeholder and partnership organisations. Your role will include working with your team to achieve performance related targets across the outcome’s framework, achieving standards/kitemarks, managing the partnerships, especially with regards to data and information sharing for those using the hub, audits, HR related matters, H&S, budgets, and supporting ongoing funding applications.

SARSAS exists to relieve the trauma and distress, and help rebuild the lives, of survivors who live in Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives.

SARSAS also campaigns and raises awareness about rape and sexual violence to change the narrative about sexual violence and enable survivor’s voices to be heard. Partnership work with a range of agencies locally and nationally is a priority to enable social change.

Contract information

Salary: £36,000 pa (Full Time Equivalent)

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Staff Management:

2. Provide day-to-day management and supervision of service-based Co-ordinaters and other support staff, ensuring business plan targets are achieved.

3. Recruit, select, train (product, systems and procedures), coach, motivate, supervise and appraise staff in order to meet the Neighbourhood Support Business Plan targets.

4. Analyse the training needs of staff, identifying skill sets and the need for development where appropriate. Work with the HR Officer to ensure training is relevant and conducted in a structured manner as part of a personal development plan.

5. Plan and arrange staff work patterns, in conjunction with Service Co-ordinators, ensuring that annual leave and flexi-leave arrangements meet the needs of the service.

7. Lead the development of a robust Volunteer Strategy.

Direct Services & Project Management:

8. Plan new projects in collaboration with senior management.

9.  Source and respond to funding opportunities (grants, donations, contracts) – completing applications and tenders with associated budgets.

10. Create work plans which identify and sequence the activities needed to successfully deliver and complete projects.

11. Control projects and write reports for management and for funders

Financial Management:

17. Ensure Service Co-ordinaters fully understand and adopt financial systems and that adequate records are in place to exercise budgetary control.

18. Regularly report progress against the Business Plan targets and budgetary information to the Chief Officer for reporting through to the Board.

19. Supported by Head of Operations, create annual budgets and Business Plans for the service and projects in line with the company planning cycles.

Neighbourhood Development & Resident Engagement:

20.  Promote and develop good relationships with local service providers and delivery partners - helping them to be responsive and sensitive to local needs.

21. Oversee the maintenance and promotion of the Braunstone Neighbourhood Management Board.

JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Finance will be active in preparing monthly management accounts and commentary for the Senior Management Team.

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the ongoing development of the financial systems, processes and procedures, monthly accounts, cash flow, as well as budgeting and forecasting.

BUDGETING & REPORTING

• Preparation of annual income and expenditure budgets for the Charity, working collaboratively with Heads of Department and members of SMT.
• Review and collate all Head office service costs and professional fees and calculate cross company charging for financial reporting.
• Provision of income and expenditure reports, variance analysis and reconciliation of fundraising activities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including balance sheet, metrics, and commentary.
• Provide a quarterly report for submission to the Board of Trustees
• Formulate monthly rolling forecast cashflow for the Charity and Trading Company including phased income budget and planned expenditure.

FINANCIAL SYSTEMS CONTROL

• Ensure the organisation operates robust accounting procedures and systems of internal financial control in line with current good practice and legislation.
• Oversee and facilitate the annual external audit but effective liaison with the auditors and preparation of accounts ready for inspection.
• Regular review of access rights and permissions for accounting, banking & HR software systems
• Ensure the Charity works in accordance with Charity SORP, HMRC, Charity Commission Regulations and other relevant bodies’ recommended code of practice.
• Keep up to date with changes in legislation affecting finance, payroll & HR ensure this information is cascaded down to other members of the Team.

KNOWLEDGE

• ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualified with significant post qualification experience
• Excellent technical and analysis skills, including advanced Excel modelling and analysis.
• Knowledge of the Charity SORP and Charity Commission requirements and guidance

The Role 

An exciting Café Manager position has opened at our Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre, which houses a fully integrated Cancer Rehabilitation Centre, Shop, Donation Centre, Office, and our first-ever Café, named Café Hornbeam. 

We are looking for an experienced Café Manager who will provide excellent customer service, prepare delicious food, and create a warm and welcoming space, inspiring their Deputy Café Manager and team of employees and volunteers to do the same. This role will be accountable for the overall management of the Café, including process and policy adherence and development, and Food Safety. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Uphold and manage café operating procedures and policies, including Food Safety, Allergens, Health and Safety and Trading Standards.

• Manage the product mix, introducing new products where appropriate and maximising profit margins.

• Identify appropriate food and drinks suppliers and build and manage supplier relationships.

• Maintain an up-to-date awareness of developments within the café/food service industry to make or recommend appropriate changes to the delivery of café services and products.

• Ensure the café is presented to the highest standards with attractive merchandising of food and drinks. 

• Effectively manage time to work alongside the team, whilst completing managerial duties.

• Plan and oversee the implementation of new menus, specials, and food and drink related offers.

• Manage the Deputy Café Manager and Café Assistants, including supporting them with their continued development, managing rotas and timesheets, providing training and providing appropriate support when needed. 

• Maximise profitability through driving sales and managing and controlling costs, stock, and margins effectively. 

• Be trained as a First Aider and Fire Marshal.

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• Proven experience of working in a catering or hospitality role at a similar level. 

• Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certification.

One large service you will be responsible for is our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is a tri-borough out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00(midday) – 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. You will be responsible for managing peripatetic teams: we currently have 3 in person Safe Spaces and based in 3 A&E.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis.

The objectives of the service include:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
• To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
• To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
• To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
• To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.

The Role

The role of the Crisis Alternative Service Manager will provide operational management, mobilisation and service development of all Crisis Services within Adult Services. The ideal candidate will have experience of mobilising and developing high quality, large services. In addition to managing and supporting staff working within challenging environments and experience of working with challenging behaviour and complex needs. The Service Manager will hold all operational risk.

Excellent organisation and decision-making skills are essential for this role, as it requires being able to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised during evenings and weekends. You will also be required to be rostered into the on-call rota.

The Crisis Alternative Service Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Services and will be proficient at communicating effectively with staff at all levels, a wide range of key stakeholders and service users. They will ensure the service is well resourced from a staffing perspective and embed high-quality operational plans and processes.

They will be responsible for the delivery, progression and continual improvement of the service. They will have responsibility for ensuring Crisis Services operate in line with organisational H&S processes and procedures, HFEH Mind policies and CQC requirements.
