Groundwork aims to be the UK’s leading regeneration charity, working through partnership to create communities in which people are proud to live and work. This programme will deliver Groundwork’s mission of supporting people to improve their prospects and reach their full potential. As an organisation, we are proud of the effective role that our Community Project Managers play in delivering significant social, environmental and health outcomes with communities across the region.

About the role

Big Local Gateshead is a small community lead organisation operating in Teams, Gateshead, governed and operated by passionate local people, with the aim of empowering residents to improve the area in which they live and work.

The 4 key community aims of Big Local Gateshead are:

  • Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them.
  • People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
  • The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
  • People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.

We are looking for this role to help expand operations, increase engagement from the local community, and strengthen relationships with other third-sector organisations.

A bit about you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working in a community setting being confident and approachable to people of all ages, cultures and ethnicities
  • Ability to use social media platforms and Office 365, for communication and the promotion of The Big Local Gateshead
  • Ability to coordinate activities and motivate others including our network of volunteers
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends
