About the role

This is a hands-on, practical role for someone who can hit the ground running. You’ll be leading the design and delivery of Anti-Racism, Equity and Inclusion (AREI) plans that turn vision into reality — working across directorates to embed change where it matters most.

You’ll work closely with Directors, HR, and a range of stakeholders to build and deliver programmes that support Shelter’s strategic aims. That means helping teams shift from intention to action — shaping and delivering interventions that have a real, measurable impact. From advising on best practice, facilitating workshops and training, to reporting on progress and helping the organisation stay accountable — this is a role with reach and purpose.

Role specifics

An excellent leader and project manager, your career to date will need to include extensive experience of mobilising teams to support the development of measurable initiatives to drive and embed cultural change and inclusion within an organisation. We’ll particularly be looking for a pragmatic and proactive approach, with a history of co-designing and delivering Equity and Inclusion (E&I) initiatives that resonated with an organisation’s core values and were pivotal for driving forward their ambitious goals. A flair for turning concepts into actionable plans is essential too, as are strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation. In short, you’re a strategic thinker with a values centred approach, E&I expertise and proven experience of leading and managing others. You are a confident leader and experienced project manager, with a solid track record of driving cultural and organisational change. You know what it takes to co-design and deliver initiatives that are grounded in an organisation’s values and relevant to its people.

You bring a practical, collaborative approach — and you’re not afraid to challenge, ask the right questions, and get things moving. You’ve led or supported measurable EDI or anti-racism work before, and you understand how to turn strategy into action. You will take a structured yet flexible planning approach, ensuring delivery stays focused while adapting to the realities of a fast-paced environment.

The Role

Active Together is a multimodal prehabilitation and rehabilitation service that has been developed by world leading academics and practitioners at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) at Sheffield Hallam University and funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Reporting to the Services Manager, The Service Administrator will support the operational and patient-facing functions of the Active Together service. This role involves managing NHS referrals, patient bookings, service appointments, and team administration, ensuring seamless coordination of facilities and resources.

The role involves close collaboration with the Yorkshire Cancer Research Active Together Service team and the Hull University Teaching Hospitals (HUTH) clinical staff delivering the Hull service. You will support the Service Manager in delivering the day-to-day operational management of the service premises. Additionally, you will support the administration involved in onboarding new Yorkshire Cancer Research staff, ensuring a smooth transition into the service. 

Specifically, you will:

Patient Flow & Service Coordination

• Process patient referrals and book initial assessments, supporting patient onboarding into the Active Together service.
• Schedule and manage patient appointments, including cancellations, waiting lists, and transport arrangements.
• Assist patients with completing necessary questionnaires.
• Maintain accurate service records including any Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system data and oversee efficient discharge processes.
• Support Service Manager in the management of monitoring and quality assurance data and processes.
• Communicate with service users and stakeholders to provide information about Active Together.
• Support service users in navigating the program and signpost them to relevant health and wellbeing resources.

Administrative & Operational Support

• Support the development, implementation and improvement of service administrative systems and processes.
• Support team administration, including diary management, email monitoring, postal management and staff induction support.
• Oversee stock control for office and service consumables and manage third-party cleaning and maintenance contracts.
• Facilitate room bookings for service appointments, team meetings, and events.
• Undertake minute-taking for team meetings.
• Maintain a welcoming and professional environment, ensuring high standards of customer service.
• Manage service facilities ensuring cleanliness, presentation, and functionality.
• Report and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with Yorkshire Cancer Research policies.

Financial & Procurement Management

• Process purchase orders, invoices, and expenses as required.
• Maintain optimal stock levels for patient literature and welcome packs, service equipment, office, and centre supplies.

Other duties

• Support service data collection and evaluation initiatives.
• Provide cover during staff absences and assist in general administrative duties.
• Ensure compliance with mandatory training, governance procedures, and service improvement initiatives.
• Be trained as a First Aider and Fire Marshal and manage the rota for First Aid and Fire Marshal cover

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• To be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent qualifications /experience) to include English Language at grade 4/C or above.
• To have NVQ 3 Business Admin or Customer Services or equivalent experience
• To have demonstrable short courses or equivalent experience in report writing, data collation and analysis of results

The Church at Carrs Lane, a United Reformed Church and Methodist Church Local Ecumenical Partnership, seeks an experienced, dynamic Project Co-ordinator to represent the church in our city centre redevelopment opposite Moor Street station and near the new Curzon Street (HS2) station, managing the next steps towards establishing and running a new church building and community hub.

The building will be part of a large, mixed-use development in Birmingham City Centre. Working in partnership with Birmingham City Council, community groups and a development partner, our plan is to redevelop the existing church site to create a flexible, eco-friendly space which is the centre for the church and its partners.

You will be a confident and effective communicator, acting as ‘client/church representative’ on this major capital project. You will understand the congregation’s comments and concerns, helping to reach consensus, devise strategy and maintain direction on behalf of the church. You will represent the church to a variety of providers including the Building Development Project Manager and potential partners for the new church building.

Knowledge of the Methodist and/or United Reformed Churches, their structures and practices, and the charity sector, is desirable.

Head of the Public Mental Health Implementation Centre – Maternity Cover

We are looking to recruit for maternity cover for 7 months in the first instance for the Head of our Public Mental Health Implementation Centre (PMHIC), which we host at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The person in this role will lead our PMHIC team alongside the Clinical and Strategic Director. Applicants should have a track record of leadership in research and an interest in public mental health. We are looking for people who are able to work flexibly and creatively in developing the portfolio of the centre, forging productive relationships with partners and responding to the needs of the mental health sector. 

We will also consider applications from candidates who may better fit maternity cover for the ‘Head of Research’ role within the broader NCCMH.
