About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate to join our team covering Ayrshire You will be involved in one-to-one advocacy along with group work across the area; this could be in a clients’ home or other suitable community venue and be home based for telephone referrals and administrative tasks.  Therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential. 

This is a full time role for 35 hours per week, applicants who do not hold the Level 2 Award in Independent Advocacy will start on £22,500 per annum.

About you

Desirably you will have some experience of working, providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education, training, benefits, employment, care and support.

Bipolar UK is the only national charity dedicated to empowering individuals and families affected by bipolar. Peer support is at the core of our work. We empower approximately 1,000 people a month to stay well - and we have the ambition to reach thousands more.

About the role:

Bipolar UK is delighted to have this post funded through a new grant and we are seeking to recruit a Senior Peer Support Officer to work 3-days per week.

We are looking for an experienced person who is familiar with peer support and lived experience models to support and engage members of our London community who are affected by bipolar from a range of backgrounds.

Your role will include managing volunteers, increasing engagement in local existing support groups and developing new ones.  Working with our self-management trainers to run psycho-education courses.  The role will require you to work across London both online via Teams and Zoom and in-person.

Young People’s Senior Peer Research Coordinator - Haringey

Are you passionate about working with young people?  Do you have experience of project management, involvement and research methods and helping others to do research?

If yes, we have the ideal job for you. We are working in partnership with the Peace Alliance in Haringey as part of the Peer Action Collective to develop solutions with young people to address youth violence. The work is funded by the Youth Endowment Fund.

Working with young people aged 10-20, as well as local secondary schools and colleges, the project will carry out peer research and develop social action projects.

The person in this role will be excellent at co-ordinating multiple projects and groups, with strong project management skills and will be a core part of our delivery team.  You will also get the opportunity to work on other young people’s involvement projects at McPin.

The post is full time and will suit someone who would like some flexibility in working hours, as there will be evening, weekend work plus school holiday activities, including Wednesdays and Fridays from 4-7 pm at Tottenham Town Hall. Your time will be split between working from Tottenham Town Hall in Haringey, the McPin Foundation offices in London and remote working as needed for project delivery.

You will link with stakeholders – schools, the police, local councillors – to help build networks to drive our social action projects forward.

Background:

First Step Trust (FST) is a charity that provides work experience, training and employment opportunities for people excluded from working life because of mental health problems or other disadvantages (workforce members).

Our approach is about giving workforce members the chance to overcome some of the difficulties facing them by getting them involved as colleagues. We provide ‘on the job’ training, advice and support to enable each person to improve their basic skills and knowledge of the various work undertaken. This will include supporting workforce members to gain recognised qualifications and access to work placements with our customers and other organisations.

We are in the process of developing a more formalised training and employment support programme (SMaRT Pathways) particularly, but not exclusively, in the area of the Automotive trade.  SMaRT Pathways will include the delivery of vocational training through the use of various technologies including video, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and other mediums making the learning process more accessible to those who struggle with traditional learning methods due to issues around literacy, numeracy and low levels of self-confidence/anxiety. 

Job Role:

The main objective of this post is to enable people with mental health difficulties and other disadvantages (workforce members) to engage with and access open employment.  The EDTW will achieve this by taking responsibility for proactively recruiting people to the project, overseeing their development whilst at the project, including delivery of training courses as and when required and supporting them to move on to employment or further training.

Main duties:

Networking with other services in the area to raise awareness about FST, promoting work placements and training courses as well as promoting the business services.

The Role

On 1st June 2024, Richmond Fellowship, part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. Job Purpose

Money Minded is a new service designed to support adults (18 years and over) in Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with the West London NHS Mental Health Teams, operating within the tri-borough area.

The service provides support with welfare benefits, accessing debt support, housing and well-being. The role of the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will be to provide advice, guidance and customer representation to tri-borough residents living with Mental Health difficulties. Advice issues may include housing, welfare benefits, council tax, accessing debt support, signposting etc.

The successful candidate will deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals, as agreed with the Service Manager. In addition to advice casework, the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will also be expected to assist onboarding referrals to the service, as and when needed.

The successful candidate will work closely with the West London NHS Mental Health teams and project volunteers, ensuring adherence to the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS) and Mind's policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed, prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.

Initially, you’ll receive extensive training and support from our Data Team to help build your knowledge of our recording systems and procedures. Then, working with new and existing staff, you’ll be responsible for helping them to understand correct data entry and record-keeping procedures to help us improve data quality and accuracy. Central London Samaritans (CLS) is the largest of Samaritans’ 201 branches.

Based in the heart of Soho (*), 450 volunteers deliver the Samaritans service round the clock, every day of the year providing support for anyone struggling to cope. Our core objective is to deliver services that support the Samaritans vision that fewer people will die by suicide. Assisted by a small staff team, volunteers manage over 100,000 contacts a year of which, pre-pandemic, 4,500 were face to face visits.

As well as delivering services in our Marshall Street centre, we also work in the community across seven London boroughs. From providing emotional support for London’s homeless, to running peer-to-peer listener programmes at Brixton prison, and delivering talks and workshops to schools and workplaces, we pride ourselves on the support we give to our community. Our volunteers also offer emotional support following any form of crisis affecting Londoners, such as the London Bridge attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.

Role description:

Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community events fundraising plans and activities. You will be managing a select number of events, along with engaging with the community and businesses to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.

Main responsibilities:

• Manage branch Community and Events, taking a lead for specific awareness events and fundraising events or activities.

Hours of work and Location:

The basic hours are 28 hours per week spread over four working days. Within these hours there may be need to work some evenings and weekend days depending on when events happen, so flexibility is essential. The core responsibilities should be carried out during weekdays.

The amount of out of hours work will be agreed on an ongoing basis.

Time off in lieu will be allowed in agreement with the Head of Branch Operations and in line with the staff handbook and the European Working Time Directive.

(*) - At present, the branch office is located in Soho but Central London Samaritans, as an organization, will be moving location to a new site in Marylebone in early 2025. We are disclosing this now as the successful candidate would be expected to move with us when the branch office is rebased, so please do take note of this.

Limitations:

The post holder will be required to work within the rules and regulations of Samaritans and accept the authority of the Director and the Chair of the branch’s Board of Trustees, who have discretion to delegate authority to the post holder and to withdraw it.

About MenWalkTalk

MenWalkTalk is a registered charity in England which aims to support an improvement of mental health in men of all ages by engaging in a walking group which is proven to be beneficial to their mental and physical wellbeing. The Stigma around Men’s mental health needs to be broken. MenWalkTalk also aims to reduce social isolation for men and provide signposting to specialist support for those who may be experiencing mental health problems. We want to provide volunteer-led walking groups in every county across England and then the UK. Our volunteers have mental health first aid training as a minimum and their aims are to discuss mental health within their walking groups, in a caring, supportive, and non-judgemental manner. We currently have 22 walk-leaders and 5 campaigners, all of which are volunteers.

Job Description – about the role

We are seeking to hire a self-motivated and enthusiastic Fundraising Officer to work with the charity team and to support the activities of the organisation.

The ideal candidate will possess a wide range of skills and be interested in playing a key role within a small and committed team, supporting the Trustees and Fundraising & Marketing Committee with the organisation’s activities.

As a Fundraising Officer your primary responsibility will be to develop, engage and grow corporate, trust, and individual supporters to help MenWalkTalk achieve its goals. Working closely with the CEO and Trustees. You'll contribute to the team by conducting research, managing appeals and fundraising efforts, handling administrative tasks, and providing event support across our team.

·Support the MenWalkTalk charity in achieving its annual income target by engaging corporate, trust, and individual donors. 

·Conduct research and develop a pipeline of potential supporters across various donor types to expand the charity's network. 

·Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective CRM system to ensure accurate and up-to-date partnership records, enabling efficient donor management and communication. 

Key responsibilities:

Fundraising

·Support the charity in achieving an annual income target from a mixture of corporate, trust, and individual donors. 

·Conduct research and create a pipeline of potential supporters across different donor categories. 

·Aid in the establishment and integration of a CRM system within the charity. 

·Ensure partnership records are kept up to date and accurate on our income CRM system (TBC).

·Help coordinate email marketing campaigns and provide comprehensive administrative support to the team when required. 

General Responsibilities

·To understand, adhere to and actively implement all the policies and procedures of MenWalkTalk and its services at all times.

·To operate and comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and relevant MenWalkTalk policies during the course of undertaking the role.

·To undertake training as required.

·Assist with other work, events and projects as needed.

Guidance and support to the Chief Executive

·Liaise with the CEO regularly. 

·Liaise with the CEO and other staff to coordinate any external/charity appointments, attendance at such events and the detailed planning of special events.

·Keep the Fundraising & Marketing Committee and Trustees appraised with Funding outcomes. 

·Attend occasional events and exhibitions as requested by the CEO to represent the charity.

Advocacy Project Coordinator
Reports to: Inclusion and Engagement Managers
Salary: £25,272.00 per annum, pro rata

The role

We are seeking to recruit an Advocacy Project Coordinator. The role is to develop and promote the views and needs of people with learning disabilities and neurodiverse people, by coordinating Generate’s self-advocacy activities and self-advocacy group, Generate Voices, with accessible weekly group sessions, associated online campaign (newsletter & social media) and lobbying work.

Your duties include:

• To co-plan and co-deliver weekly Generate Voices self-advocacy group meetings, both online and in person, supporting self-advocates with learning disabilities and/ or autism to ensure they have the tools to make informed decisions, their rights are upheld, their voices are heard, empower them to advocate for themselves and engage members of the self-advocacy groups in planning.
• To work alongside a coordinator with lived experience of learning disability and/ or autism to co-manage all self-advocacy activities, plan future agendas and decide what other speakers and trainers to invite to the forum jointly.
• To provide members with engagement and participation opportunities, and ensure members are meaningfully involved in meaningful and impact focussed projects.
• Develop and deliver effective lobbying and campaigning of key decision makers including attending meetings with those with influence, in order that the views and wishes of self-advocates become known and acted upon. This includes finding ways of encouraging key decision makers to engage with members and take their views and wishes into account when making decisions and setting policy.
• Contact other organisations that campaign for the rights of people with a learning disability and seek opportunities to involve members from the forum in these as appropriate. (Examples – Mencap, Lewisham Speaking Up & Learning Disability England campaigns).
• Delivering and developing project reporting and monitoring and to co-operate with and support any external evaluators.
