Step into a role at the heart of Westminster, where insight and influence combine to shape decisions that matter. As our Senior Public Affairs Adviser for Westminster, you will have strong experience in public affairs or Parliament, alongside a clear understanding of how policy, legislation and political debate are shaped.

A key part of this role will include contributing to the planning and delivery of parliamentary activity, including the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Motor Neurone Disease (MND), parliamentary events and inquiries, while also supporting campaigning activity and ensuring high-quality briefings and communications that strengthen the MND Association’s voice and impact.

You will be working in an exciting and fast-paced environment, balancing priorities and responding to emerging political developments with focus and judgement. As an effective communicator you will engage with senior parliamentary and government stakeholders, drafting clear and persuasive briefings, and identifying opportunities to influence change for the MND Community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the political system in Westminster to achieve positive change for people affected by MND
  • Support the delivery of public affairs activity across Westminster to influence policy and debate
  • Work with the Public Affairs Manager, to identify and develop effective relationships with key parliamentarians, influencers and decision makers
  • Support on the development and delivery of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on MND’s work programme
  • Draft high-quality briefings and correspondence for parliamentarians
  • Support parliamentary events, inquiries and party conferences
  • Work with the policy and campaigns teams to progress shared priorities
  • Represent the MND Association in coalitions and external forums
  • Support campaigning volunteer engagement with Parliament

About You

  • Experience in a public affairs role or working in Parliament
  • Strong understanding of UK parliamentary processes, procedures and the political landscape
  • Experience of working with Parliamentarians
  • Excellent influencing ability, and confidence to engage with a wide variety of people from senior politicians to local volunteers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience drafting briefings and policy communications
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond at pace
  • Ability to use databases and social media for public affairs purposes
  • Experience in health or social care policy

Hybrid working expectations: London office attendance at least one day per week, in line with any in-person meetings. Able to attend Parliament regularly and at short notice, and available for occasional evening and weekend work.
