About this role
The Philanthropy Manager will own an assigned portfolio of prospects and donors at five to six figure level and act as the day-to-day relationship manager within that portfolio.
The role plans and delivers cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activity to agreed KPIs, makes timely operational decisions within scope, and escalates risks/opportunities early.
The post holder contributes evidence and insight into team planning, supports senior colleagues on major/strategic accounts, and collaborates across teams to ensure high quality, inclusive delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Own and manage an assigned portfolio of prospects and donors at the five to six figure level, delivering agreed income and engagement targets.
- Build and maintain professional, long-term relationships within the portfolio, escalating strategic issues or risks promptly.
- Act as the day-to-day relationship manager for donors in your portfolio, adapting style to audience and context and ensuring clear, timely communications; seek support for major strategic relationships.
- Maintain structured cultivation plans with milestones, update stakeholders proactively, and adjust plans based on learning.
- Develop clear, evidence-led proposals and reports using agreed templates, definitions and KPIs; quality check data before submission.
- Support senior colleagues on major prospects with briefings, meeting notes, and follow ups.
- Supporting Senior Philanthropy Managers, Development Directors and the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships on key accounts (typically £500k–£1m+), preparing high quality materials and inputs and maintaining accurate records of progress through the fundraising cycle in Salesforce.
- Contribute insights to identify and prioritise new grant opportunities and themes; share relevant sector updates with the team.
- Co-develop stewardship plans tailored to donor priorities in collaboration with Engagement, Pro Bono and Events teams.
- Maintain accurate, complete records in Salesforce; apply definitions consistently and quality check data before reporting.
- Maintain Salesforce and contribute inputs for SMT/committee reporting via the Senior Philanthropy Manager; propose lightweight improvements to existing processes.
- Keep professional knowledge current; share useful updates/resources and ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
- Support delivery of major fundraising, cultivation and stewardship events, and ad-hoc Philanthropy Team activities.
- Demonstrate professionalism and best practice in all duties, complying with organisational policies and procedures, and proactively supporting the wider team.

Person specification
Essential
- Demonstrable experience generating gifts at five to six figures from UK trusts, corporate partnerships and/or foundations.
- Ability to work through the fundraising cycle with donors to initiate, renew and grow gifts.
- Experience developing partnerships and managing an allocated portfolio of donor relationships.
- Excellent research and prospecting skills.
- Strong experience using Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, and substantive experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM.
- Strong planning and organisation skills – build structured plans with milestones/dependencies and track portfolio income/expenditure, highlighting variances early.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong bid-writing and storytelling ability.
- Ability to grasp and convey complex ideas, including Impetus’ model and the private equity industry.
- Able to engage confidently and professionally with senior stakeholders, adapting style and seeking support where appropriate.
- Ability to work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects and maintain excellent attention to detail.

Who we are:
BMSTC's mission is "to support the physical health and mental wellbeing of local people living with Multiple Sclerosis", not just now but for the rest of their lives.
We provide practical help - including neuro-physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, footcare, counselling and a range of complementary therapies to help manage symptoms. We also run very popular "live" online exercise and mindfulness sessions.
We are not just about therapies - we also offer a friendly, supportive space where members, families and carers can socialise, share information and take more control over their lives. Understanding that MS impacts not just the person diagnosed.
Our purpose-built Therapy Centre in central Reading serves and strengthens the MS community across Berkshire and nearby counties. As a self-funded charity, we receive neither NHS or government support and must raise £700,000 annually to continue making a difference to local families affected by MS. This year, we delivered over 15,000 treatments to more than 400 families and were honoured to receive a King's Award for Voluntary Service, equivalent to an MBE, in recognition of our service to the community.

About the Role
Fundraising and philanthropic advocacy are at the heart of GiveOut’s work. As Philanthropy Coordinator, you will be a key member of the Philanthropy team, supporting our philanthropy programme and working closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Senior Philanthropy Officers.
You will have responsibilities in three main areas: helping with internal programme coordination, supporting colleagues on key donor relationships and fundraising, and events.

You will be the first point of contact for the organisation, providing a welcoming and professional service to colleagues, partners and members of our global community, many of whom do not have English as their first language. You will support the smooth day-to-day running of the office by providing high-quality administrative support.
This is an entry-level role, and no previous work experience is required. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is a fast learner, enjoys helping others, and is keen to develop their administrative and customer service skills. You should have good telephone manners, be organised and comfortable using IT systems; experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail) is desirable, but full training will be provided.
This is a full-time, temporary position with a hybrid working pattern (3 days in the office and 2 days working from home). We’re seeking a highly-motivated creative campaigner to support our work in reducing the environmental harms caused by advertising. You will become an expert in the tactics used by major oil firms to maintain their social licence to operate, including advertising, PR and lobbying; as well as co-developing creative interventions and strategies to counter these. You’ll keep a watching brief on how big oil firms respond to cultural and political trends regarding climate and net zero, attend coalition meetings in Britain and mainland Europe and join a growing movement to end the greenwashing practices of the world’s worst polluters.
About Adfree Cities
Adfree Cities is a network of ‘Adblock’ groups across Britain. We campaign to reduce the harms of corporate advertising by building grassroots power to oppose plans for new billboards and showcase community arts, nature and ad-free space as positive alternatives. We lobby for policy change at a local council and national level and work with a growing network of allies to address the social and environmental impacts of advertising. In particular, we work closely with the ‘Badvertising’ campaign to stop adverts fuelling the climate emergency. In recent years we have supported councils such as Edinburgh, Sheffield and others to prohibit advertising for polluting products on council-controlled sites. We’ve filed successful complaints to the UK ad regulator leading to greenwash adverts by Shell, Total, HSBC and Toyota being banned. We supported a coalition of groups to instigate Parliament’s first debate amongst MPs on banning fossil fuel advertising and sponsorship in July 2025.
What we do:
- Hold the line: We stop new advertising sites in our cities. We support residents and community groups to oppose planning applications for new digital billboards.
- Positive alternatives: We showcase arts, nature and ad-free space as positive alternatives to corporate advertising.
- Movement building: We produce resources, train new organisers and run events to raise awareness about the impacts of corporate advertising on mental health, wellbeing, environmental damage, climate breakdown, body image and the local economy. We also contribute to international coalitions working to reduce the harms caused by advertising.
- Lobby for change: We engage in a constructive dialogue with the advertising regulator, local councils and MPs to strengthen the regulation and legislation of advertising.
We are currently a team of six part-time staff based in Bristol. We are an official partner to the Badvertising campaign which aims to stop advertising fuelling the climate emergency. This includes ads and sponsorships for cars, airline flights and fossil fuels. Badvertising is a project run by the New Weather Institute with Adfree Cities.
Big Oil Creative Campaigner: Primary Responsibilities
a) Keep a watching brief on the fossil fuel industry
- Develop expertise in the tactics used by major UK oil firms to maintain their social licence to operate, including outdoor advertising campaigns.
- Maintain a ‘watching brief’ on the major political, marketing and policy movements of UK-headquartered oil firms, for example through news articles and social media. (e.g new partnership and sponsorship announcements, business decisions or new advertising campaigns)
- Liaise with other movement actors working to end the advertising and marketing practices of major fossil fuel companies (Big Oil), especially UK-headquartered firms
b) Develop and deliver creative campaign interventions
- Co-create artistic interventions to expose misleading greenwash practices of major oil firms. Examples and inspiration from other groups include Darren Cullen’s Hell Bus, Glimpse’s spoof advertising agency Atmospheric, Brandalism’s ‘subvertising’ campaigns, Badvertising’s Ministry for the Climate Emergency, Fossil Free London’s street protests and Channel 4’s documentary Joe Lycett vs the Oil Giant.
- Develop press plans around these interventions
- Deploy a health message framing around the topic of advertising for high carbon products and create outreach plans to engage health workers and air pollution campaigners around the need for fossil ad bans
c) Liaising with policymakers and delivering workshops
- Deliver workshops about advertising for high carbon products to policymakers, campaigners and residents.
- Travel to different parts of Britain to run events, build local campaigner networks and lobby local councils. This will include co-managing transport and logistics of our Billboard Dystopia art installation – supported by other members of the Adfree Cities team.
- Support Adfree Cities’ policy team in engaging councils wishing to implement a ban on advertising and sponsorship for high carbon products, especially in collaboration with publlic health officers.
Days per week: 3 days per week.
Start Date: Late February 2026 / March 2026
Salary: £34,000 pro-rata.
Contract: 2 year fixed term contract – with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

This is an exciting position for an exceptional person with a strong campaigning background to work for one of the UK’s leading rights NGOs. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to devise high-impact campaigns to achieve real change, co-ordinating a multi-disciplinary high-performing team to further privacy, free expression and data protection rights. Ideally, you’ll also be a key Big Brother Watch spokesperson in the media.
You’ll have both people and project management responsibilities, leading our campaigns on key civil liberty issues such as digital ID, free speech and protest rights, facial recognition, AI and mass surveillance.
You’ll plan, execute and evaluate campaigns across all areas of our work.

Campaigns

Develop and execute quarterly campaigns plans to manage and schedule relevant advocacy, policy and research work to further our strategic aims

Co-ordinate a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team to pursue campaign goals

Role: Habitats and Fisheries Campaigner
The Habitats and Fisheries Campaigner will manage and deliver our marine habitats and sustainable fisheries campaigns.
Reporting to the Head of Campaigns, this role will be responsible for the design and practical delivery of innovative, engaging, and clear campaign plans to meet Oceana’s goals to deliver effective marine protected areas and safeguard well-managed fish populations in UK seas and reduce the pressure of destructive fishing and overfishing.
Eligible candidates should have proven experience in managing and delivering complex public campaigns to drive national policy change. They must be passionate, and able to develop and implement creative and bold campaign activities, alongside our small but experienced team.
The position will be hybrid, based three days per week (Tues-Thurs) in Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Regular national, and occasional international, travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations, including Washington, DC.

Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and deliver Oceana UK’s Habitats and Fisheries campaigns, taking accountability for their quality, timeliness and success.
- Contribute and advise on campaign strategies through annual planning and budgeting process, and through on-going detailed project planning.
- Design and manage delivery of all of Oceana UK’s Habitats and Fisheries campaign activities, including (but not limited to) campaign actions and launches, public mobilizations, digital actions, NGO partnerships and allies, coalitions and potential legal challenges.
- Plan all projects in detail, securing approval of all details, and documenting clear methodology, roles, responsibilities, and timelines in advance.
- Manage the campaign calendar and budget, ensuring that all campaign deliverables are managed and delivered on time and to budget, with any updates accurately reflected in the quarterly reforecast process.
- Monitor and evaluate progress against plans, ensuring effective delivery of campaign objectives. • Work with Science and Research colleagues to ensure that the Habitats and Fisheries campaigns have scientifically robust foundations and evidence.
- Work with Policy colleagues to ensure campaign plans deliver effective lobbying and advocacy toward our goals, including through drafting briefings and letters, meeting and engaging decision makers, planning and attending events, and responding to consultations.
- Support the Communications team to ensure our campaigning plans and delivery are effectively reflected to engage supporters and other relevant audiences.
- In collaboration with the Communications team, manage consultants to design and deliver creative, digital, and design assets in support of campaign actions.
- Collaborate internally with UK Leadership Team and other relevant colleagues, including internationally, taking on board all relevant input, to ensure strong campaign impact.
- Commission and manage consultants to deliver campaign activities and events.
- Build strong external relationships and represent Oceana UK to ensure we advance our campaign goals with a wide range of stakeholders, including civil servants, politicians, the fishing industry, NGOs, and businesses.
- Be spokesperson for these campaigns, representing Oceana externally in the media, social media, events, relevant networks, with partners, and in meetings. • Line manage the Habitats and Fisheries Campaign Officer, offering day-to-day support and learning, as well as longer term career development.
- Be present in person in the London or Cornwall office 3 days per week (Tues-Thurs), promoting a positive working culture.
- Help to draft timely, accurate and compelling funder and supporter reporting.
- Ensure a strong commitment to the organisation's values and vision, as set out by Oceana globally.
- Travel occasionally, both nationally and internationally, to meet with team members and wider internal and external stakeholders.
- Other responsibilities as appropriate and necessary to achieve campaign and organisational objectives.
Candidate Requirements
Education and work experience:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in campaigning, ideally toward ocean or environmental goals (essential).
- Experience managing environmental protection or oceans or fisheries related campaigns in the UK, with an understanding of the main issues, processes and stakeholders involved.
- Experience turning complex policy issues into innovative and engaging campaigns.
- Degree or masters in fisheries, marine science, or a related field (preferred).
- Line management experience.
Skills and knowledge:
- Familiarity with fisheries or marine and environmental regulations, legislation and policies in the UK, as well as with the key institutions and decision-making processes.
- Proficiency at understanding and distilling complex scientific issues for campaigning purposes.
- Excellent project management skills, with demonstrable experience managing and prioritising multiple workstreams, tasks, projects and timelines effectively.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and impactful campaign outputs.
- Excellent management skills, and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and with other organisations and allies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good understanding of the principles of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and a proven commitment to improving these in the environmental space.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to speak confidently in the media and at events.
