The Branch Manager will manage the business activities associated with the Branch, per the Society’s rules and on behalf of the Branch Trustees. The Branch Manager will work alongside the Animal Care Coordinator in maintaining RSPCA Welfare standards and recruiting fosterers.

General Management

• Undertake all admin duties as defined by the Trustees.
• Responsible for the recruitment of animal fosterers and volunteers, alongside the Animal Care Coordinator.
• Create and implement an animal welfare awareness programme for children under 10.
• Attend Branch Trustee meetings and present relevant information (1 evening a month).
• Maintain all electronic platforms and social media.
• Ensure staff and volunteers are aware of and adhere to the Branch and National Society policies, procedures and rules.
• To facilitate the employment, deployment, appraisal, training and discipline of staff.
• Ensure that training needs are identified and brought to the Branch Trustees’ attention.
• Ensure that Branch staff have current job descriptions and are aware of their responsibilities.
• To establish local volunteer groups to support with their own fundraising and events, offering them advice and support.
• To have overall responsibility of the Branch charity shop.
• As required, organise and run key fundraising and/or Public Relations events in the Branch Calendar.
• Attend key sub-committee meetings as appropriate or nominate a representative.
• Discover and maintain various grants and responsible for creating and running fundraising events.

Communication

• Responsible for effective and appropriate communication with all Branch employees and volunteers on matters concerning the Branch and Society.
• To ensure effective and appropriate communication between Branch, the Region and National Headquarters.

• Responsible for ‘Public Relations’ of the Branch, using a range of media to promote a positive image of the Branch.

• Responsible for the coordination of guest speakers and visits to schools and local community groups on behalf of the Branch Trustees.

• Responsible for coordinating visits to the Branch and Animal Centre.

 Health and Safety

• Responsible for all safety-related issues, including the ‘Health and Safety at Work’ Act, COSHH regulations, fire prevention, first aid at work and Trading Standards legislation and that the Branch is fully compliant.

• Ensure that all staff are aware of and comply with Health and Safety requirements.

Role Summary

As our Director of Philanthropy, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future where everyone chooses delicious, healthy food that is good for all humans, animals, and the planet. Responsibilities

1. Major Gifts, Corporates and Foundations

• Identify and prepare proposals for new revenue streams (think outside the box!), with an emphasis on the climate-food nexus. This includes potential HNWIs as well as large institutions, corporates and climate foundations.

• Identify and develop processes and systems to support the growth of major-donor and foundation income.

• Identify suitable projects within the strategic plan to create the case for support for ProVeg countries and programmes, which fulfill donor preferences and foundation strategic priorities.

• Oversee fundraising events for major donors, and assist the President in managing donor relationships.

2. Management & Leadership

• Lead the International Fundraising team, setting annual goals, providing regular feedback, conducting annual performance reviews, and supporting continuous professional development.

• Mentor country-specific Fundraising colleagues and support ProVeg's country revenue-generation strategies.

3. Development Planning

• Design, develop, and implement a resource mobilization and cultivation strategy for one and three-year periods in collaboration with the President and CEO

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum of five years’ experience in senior fundraising at a non-profit, preferably with an international focus. A similar or additional corporate background would also be useful.

• Understanding of effective altruism, and up-to-date knowledge of European fundraising trends.

• A track record of identifying and securing significant, multi-year funds from donors (minimum five to six-figures), particularly new donors and foundations. 

• Significant experience in researching and developing strong stakeholder relationships, as well as experience with writing concise reports.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including confident demeanor and experience in engaging with a diverse range of high-net-worth individuals. 

• Proficient CRM skills and familiarity with fundraising tracking tools and project management

• Willingness to travel, approximately six times per year.

• Strong motivation to support the plant-based movement.

• Knowledge and understanding of the global food-system transition towards alternative proteins.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Individual Giving Team for a nine month secondment as Individual Giving Manager managing our regular giving programme. 
Regular giving at Alzheimer’s Society is growing year on year with an ambitious target of £8.5M for 2024/25. In this role you’ll get the opportunity to lead a high performing team of two, working across all regular giving campaigns including face to face fundraising, telemarketing, payroll giving, digital and SMS. You’ll provide strategic direction to the team and manage the significant expenditure budget, assessing and optimising spend to give the best value to Alzheimer’s Society and make the best investment to grow regular giving. 

There are lots of exciting projects coming up in regular giving including launching a test of door-to-door fundraising and our new Membership product which has shown great results in initial testing. You’ll also be building strong relationships with our new agency partners for 2024/25.

Senior Philanthropy Manager

As Senior Philanthropy Manager within our Fundraising Team, you will focus and lead on:

• External facing relationship manager, both building new relationships and effectively stewarding existing ones 
• Support the High Value Lead to set budgets and conduct regular reforecasting 
• Maintain an effective pipeline of philanthropy prospects 
• Ensure a high standard of impact reporting to donors 
• Work with stakeholders across RNID (particularly in the programmes teams) to ensure that propositions are compelling and develop funding cases for support and accompanying funding budgets 
• Ensure exceptional relationship management experiences for high value donors, including cultivation planning 
• Effectively deploy senior staff and volunteers across RNID to work with high value donors, including appropriate briefings and direction on relationship aims

You will have experience of developing and managing relationships with donors (directly and through peer-to-peer relationships) worth 6 figures and above, alongside pipeline building and proposition development.

You will have considerable experience of presenting proposals and reports to prospective and existing donors, able to translate the work of RNID to inspire high value donors and secure significant long-term gifts. 

This role will be operating at a senior level within RNID, contributing to plans and strategies, and have line management experience.

At an exciting time of growth, they are now recruiting for temporary Telephone Fundraisers to join their team, on an ongoing basis.

As a Telephone Fundraiser, you will represent a range of charities and non-profits over the phone. You will call across supporter acquisition, welcome calls, cross-sell, membership, legacy fundraising campaigns and more. You will be speaking with existing supporters who have previously donated or shown an interest in supporting the charities work, no ‘cold calling’ and will be making a strong fundraising ask on a charity’s behalf.

To be considered for this role, you will have strong background in a sales-based role, interpersonal skills transferable to telephone conversations, a confident and clear speaking voice, and the ability to follow a structure (call guide). You will also be resilient, able to handle objection, empathic and have the ability to perform to a target based working environment.

This is fully remote role, with a choice of working hours between 17.5 – 35 hours per week, shift patterns include afternoon and evenings, 12:00-4:00pm or 4:00- 8:30pm. Please only apply if you are available to start ASAP or have no more than a 1 weeks’ notice period.

This is a great opportunity for someone with at least three years’ experience in a similar role, who has an interest in contemporary literature and is looking to develop their career in the creative industries. It’s an exciting time to join the organisation as we develop new audiences and work towards creating a Centre for Writing and Publishing in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This role is central to NWN providing marketing support across all of New Writing North’s varied programme, including international literary prizes, young writers’ groups, and festivals and events. You will also shape the marketing and communications and audience development strategic plans and, will work closely with colleagues from different programme teams developing relationships with audiences and stakeholders online. The ideal candidate will have expertise in marketing and communications, and especially digital marketing and its potential for developing audiences. You will be a creative self-starter with a willingness to engage with audiences and to devise, test and evaluate new marketing initiatives.
